If you aren't making your own engine, then you're not making a game. You're modding something someone else already made. Which is fine, just learn your place.
Kayden Davis
The difference in quality between your pixel art and the portrait is jarring to say the least.
Jacob Wood
every engineDev's engine I've seen here is like a moving .png file and that's it. lol
Anthony Hernandez
That has nothing to do with what I just said.
Jeremiah White
Engine can mean pretty much anything so it doesn't matter anyway
Landon Perry
If you aren't building your own processor, then you're not making a game. You're modding something someone else already made. Which is fine, just learn your place.

your png doesn't even move, you're below me. LEARN. YOUR. PLACE.
while working on the story/level for the prototype demo i've come to the conclusion that this kind of free time questioning is too open because it leads towards breaking my biggest rule for this, no meta-clues... as ive designed the timeline/alibis of the characters, inevitably the important characters have more to say and so the player can shoot in the dark at a day earlier and the important characters will have something to say and the unimportant characters will give the default non-answers. im trying to think of how i should solve this....right now im testing out redesigning the level without the alibis altogether to see if it would work. if not that i need to come up with some sort of logical limit on what times you can ask about.
Ian Mitchell
Too bad. I'm going to use Unity.
Isaiah Richardson
Why?
Josiah Miller
Good goyim.
Christopher Bell
not me, i find UE4 is the simplest
Ethan Hall
What is your game's plot?
Benjamin Cox
you are a dude and you kill bad guys, great evil on the end but you have the power. You win.
Christian Cook
Unity has better 2D support and I figure that would be the best starting place.
Nathan Butler
What about limiting the number of times you can ask the person at once? Like maybe they get annoyed by your interrogation and stop being cooperative. Also, I wonder what happens when you ask what she was doing at, say, 7:31 on Dec-20-1981. It would seem strange to me if she just said "I can't remember" or whatever. I'd expect her to say something like "That's awfully specific... but I think I woke up at around 7:30..."
theres already timelimits on the case and each questioner, being uncooperative doesnt stop you from doing shot in the dark questions and theres an additional problem that none of these limits stop the player from savescumming it, building up an external timeline having a guide of which times to ask about with no internal logic in the game as to why theyre doing that.
Dylan Evans
Artist finished the first NPC and also the first iteration of its idle animation
Nathaniel Roberts
>It would seem strange to me if she just said "I can't remember" or whatever. I'd expect her to say something like "That's awfully specific... but I think I woke up at around 7:30..." oh and i specifically write all the responses to not involve any characterization....there will be characters talking and whatnot in the final game but the actual notes youre seeing and using are in the form of the detective taking notes so theres no fluff on them... how people say things is overemphasized in detective fiction, i want the game to be about detective work in facts instead of hunches.
