Gameplay is pretty simplistic since they were originally nes games but I still had fun with them. Just give mt1 a shot, even if you don't like them its interesting to see the origins of the series.

Depends on the game. For example, if Nocturne's game over is anything to go by, YHVH gets his hands on the protag's soul, which is the absolute worst possible thing that can happen to you in SMT.

Nocturne was my first game in the series, so seeing it for the first time was basically "well shit, sounds like it's better than going through the Vortex World."

Then I finally got around to playing other games in the series and learned just how bad that game over actually was.

YHVH is the one who creates the souls anyway I don't see what's so bad about going back and reincarnating anyway, also even in Noturne there were ghosts all over the vortex world, which means YHVH clearly doesn't give a shit unless you're fucking with the conception for arbitrary reason

Well demons come back. As for human deaths in general, it's usually because once they're gone, the protagonist has no way of changing that and they don't have any other hyperpowered godlike entities in their corner when they go. Nanashi (I have no opinion on DeSu2, having never gotten to it) is a rare exception. Even then, he had to literally replace God to do it which is a pretty drastic measure.

because Nanashi is no better than god and would remove things he didn't like about people like flynn being a slave and i don't think he will revive people the same way cause that would bring everything back to the way it was before. remember belief powers gods and brings them to this universe

DDS games had stomach aches which is pretty funny. SJ had some bomb which I believe isn't in any other game. There is also of course the legendary LOSARM from MTII.
In Raidou 2 her design is the same as the regular pixie but in a kimono.

I think the dyke look works pretty well. Frankly there are plenty of other designs that deserve a second look first.

Who would you say needs a redesign? The two I fell need it are High Pixie and Loki but some others like Agares who have been stuck with their SMTI/II designs really need it however the fact the new games will be 3d and not use 2d sprites can help mask their age.

I'm having a hard time remembering many in particular. It's just one of those things where I'm playing one of the games and see a demon with a design that I'm not a fan of. Ideally the design of every demon in SMT V will be touched up in some way (for the sake of consistently, if nothing else).

I guess I'll throw Strix and Ouroboros in the hat. And maybe have someone redraw Nidhoggr and Asherah since the designs are alright but they seem slightly off.

Speaking of Varnani,
Do her stats increase based on how you leveled up Serph?
For example I leveled up strength alot in my DD2 play through, would she be a strength demon only or would she be more all around balanced?

Her stat gains are fairly balanced with a slight lean towards magic, but she inherits Serph's stats at the point of his death.
