Fuck no they just did basic compound exercises and were active as fuck and ate a shit load of veggies and meat. Bodybuilding isn't rocket science but nerds try to make it to be.

And they were actually athletic. They need to bring back athleticism to bodybuilding.

If I remember correctly, natty lord Eugene's routine is a million rep brosplit with bitch weight.

larry scott arm routine is the only one anyone should do

Tips from the 1920s:


Nasal Breathing – Should be practiced all the time, especially when exercising
Bent Knees – Always keep the knees bent a little as this aids in blood flow
Alternate Sides – By working one side, then the other, the body has better blood circulation
Fresh Air – Whenever possible, exercise in fresh air (open windows, out-of-doors)
Put Your Mind Into It – Focus on the muscles being used and the desired outcome!

most people still didn't look like that, though their endurance was certainly much greater than the average person's today. Lack of nutritious food, especially in childhood, was an issue as well. Being swole as an adult starts with your diet as a child.

Guy in OPs pic looks like he could be natty, not super big and lean, looks like most athletes.

Not exactly 1920,s but this is literally george hack's routine:

>Sun: platz squat 2x5 , jerk 2x5, shrugs
> Mon: deadlift 2x5, overhead good mornings (yes you read that right) 2x5, ohp 2x5, hammer curls
> Tue: , floor press 2x5, sit-ups and leg raises
> wed: hack squat 2x5, pushups sets of 15 (dumbbell push press every other), floor flies
> thurs: power curls 2x5, pullovers 3x10, straight arm front raises 3x10

and his routine for athletes (he suggests you do bodyweight exercises and remain active on days off)

A:
>Muscle snatch 10 total reps
>jerks 10 total reps
>dumbell cleans 10 total reps (per side)
>barbell front raises 10 total reps

B:
>Cleans 10 total reps
>dumbell snatch 10 total reps (per side)
>OHP 10 total reps
>DB jerk 10 total reps (per side)

C:
>Side press 10 total reps
>lifting in bridge (floor press while doing a neck bridge) 10 total reps

do this with moderate-heavy weight, and go for a max evry 3-4 weeks in this fahsion:
2x3,2x2,2x1

for diet he recommends 3/4 vegetables (includes potatoes) and 1/4 meats, though he himself was a vegetarian and believes thats its the best way to go.
