They work well, but they don't really build the kind of grip strength you need for deadlifting. Static holds do by most accounts.

How do you go about putting them in a routine? Sets? Reps? Progression?

That's what I was thinking desu. I'm doing barbell holds Ed Coan style, but figured these might be good because I can do them anywhere.

best beginner powerlifting routine?

I did SS for several months but then stopped to start focusing on cardio to lose weight. i've probably lost a decent amount of strength and I'm looking to get into power lifting.

maxing one lift every session, then do 5x5 backoff sets and relevant accessory work.

Is there any program that involves a heavy single or triple followed by some volume where you lift for around 4 times a week?

every workout like this:
>work up to 1RM
>do 5x5 of the same lift at some weight that is hard, but not impossible
>do some relevant accessory work to your heart's content.

Great work. Not sure if you care, but a couple things you could probably do to improve are not looking up during your ascent in the squat and keeping your elbows tucked more on bench.

Well your first step should probably be starting strength again to get back where you were. If you can't keep adding weight every workout, then move to a program that alternates volume and intensity and adds weight slower. Texas Method, Madcow, Starr, 5/3/1, etc.

on the squat I caught my knees caving and my heels coming up in the bottom a bit, so I think I may have been a bit too forward-leaning. I think sorting those things out should help with the ascent being wonky.

and yeah, my thoughts exactly with bench. I noticed that at the bottom, my forearms could have been more upright than they were.

Yeah. Daily maxing, but instead of a daily max, you hit a daily 3RM and do back off 5s. Deadlift doubles and triples here and there.

Ok so I have a question about calorie intake if anyone wants to help me out.

Currently 6'2" 190lbs 13-15%bf Going to run Blaha's 5x5 this Monday, after about 6 weeks of moderate fucking about (lots of mobility work) that occurred after a years hiatus.

My lifts are currently

225x1 squat
315x1 deadlift
215x3 Dips (full ROM with 25lb plate)

So, background established, I would like to improve those to

315x3 squat
405x3 deadlift
270x3 dip (or bench, haven't had a spotter so I've been dipping)

Without going above 17-19% bf.

How many calories should I be taking in over TDEE, and (ballpark) how long should it take me to get those numbers provided I eat and sleep correctly?

best place you can ask this is a psychic because this isn't an answerable question. Bulk slowly unless you feel you aren't actually bulking. Probably should start benching though. Pick a program and it's progression should help you figure out how long it will take.

And I did say ballpark, I don't expect magic just wanted to make a reasonable goal/timeframe.

Might do a fairly large bulk to really push the 'novice' gains a bit, then switch back to 500 > TDEE.
