You could also drink coffee that isn't shit. Buy locally roasted coffee, grind it yourself, and brew it in a french press or a moka pot. There's absolutely no reason that black coffee should taste like shit.

Funny, I was also a diehard black coffee kind of guy, but I dropped that. It's mostly pretension I believe. There's plenty of types of coffee drinks that are enhanced due to inclusion of milk, however I don't think I would stop drinking black coffee entirely, as I often like it black also.
