Lifting existential crisis

Why do i even lift anymore? To make up for being skinny? Well ive done that, so now what? I was looking up old high school peers and one of his own engineering firm, and im thinking ive had my goals mixed up. Whats the point of fucking lifting whwn you have money? No amount of lifting will make you better than someone who runs his own firm while looking like a dyel.

Lifting was relevant if youre still college age, but after that its just bullshit ive been wasting time in the gym when i should be making the most of financial opportunities. I repeat NO AMOUNT OF LIFTING OR BENCH PRESS PLATES WILL COMPARE TO SOME RICH DYEL WHOS TRUELY MADE IT. Lifting was never making it, it was just me compensating and not seeing what more important goals.

Lifting no longer matters once youre old enough to be making big money, therefore, lifting to big, intimidate, shredded w/e wors you want to throw in is only an early 20s pursuit at he very oldest, if youre still lifting with the same level of obsession as you were in your early 20s then you have tour priorities wrong. discuss

When you're old, do you want to be old and frail or healthy so you can enjoy life?

Stop competing against others good fortune and be healthy so you can enjoy clarity of mind and achievement.

/thread

Old and frail? No
Old, frail, rich, powerful? Yes no amount of muscles will make up for it

You shouldn't become obsessive about any part of your life.

Your peers are probably jealous of your physique and regret spending so many hours in the office.

Balance is the key, balance work and life outside of it. That extends not only to family time but to your own health.
Why work until you're in an early grave because of your long hard hours? Likewise why be healthy and fit but be in a dead end career or job because you didn't apply yourself to that.

Tldr: Be the best you can be at all things.

Then go to university.
Stop asking us to be a hugbox
This is all on you

It's way easier to get laid as a fit person with a dominant personality than it is with a lot of money. The sex is also better, because you can see the lustful desire in their eyes. Don't get me wrong, money will pull tons of pussy, but I also want to look in the mirror and find myself physically desirable. Futhermore, being physically attractive and chasing a goal will assist you a lot in life and translates well to other success, including monetary gains.

Also, lifting is much more of a controllable success, where you get what you put into it and if you don't, you can always do roids.

Why do you assume i don't have a uni degree? Do you know the difference between woeking in a degree job and someone whos capable of running his own firm?

Heres my existential crisis, i couldve been like that, infact, nearly everyone here who put the same amount of dedication into lifting as growing teir wealth couldve done that. You, me, everyone on Veeky Forums all could've been rich as fuck and i mean driving bmw m6 rich like the guy i facebook stalked. All those fucking time wasted on lifting and counting my macros when i should've just been that skinny but rich guy instead of that buff guy who just works in network security (yes it requires a degree)

There's more to life than lifting or money.

You'll never make it with such tunnel vision, bro.

Working out is like 5 hours a week you fucking idiot. You can make big bucks and still hit the gym

And thats where i fucked up. Pulling girls making up for being a skelly in high school. I was working towards any goal i was just compensating for my past. Now i just have a mediocre job when i couldve been more. Lifting is shit now you think brock lesnar has more influence and power than warren buffet or bill gates? What the fuck is looking huge going to do? Like i said you can look like jeff seid driving a bmw 3 series or you can be palmer luckey (founder of oculus rift) with enough money to buy 100 rolls royces

>where you get what you put into it

Exactly this. You don't need to be talented or skilled to be fit, just persistent.

Same with being rich. Keep grinding, you'll get there.

You are aware you could do both right?
Or is this a variant of /r9k/ put-downs meant to sabotage bros from making it?

I forgot to mention all those times partying, and smashing. Its enough to make me realise i wasted my fucking time and all those shit was twmporary and definitely pointless, i mean what do i have to show for it when im re all temporary shit. And yes im venting on Veeky Forums

>Lifting is shit now you think brock lesnar has more influence and power than warren buffet or bill gates?

It's not just your finances that have stagnated man, it's your emotional development.

Start now and shut up whining about it you beta fuck.

Your writing suggests you really just aren't that smart. You aren't a tycoon not because you took the wrong path, but because you weren't good enough to do more than you are now

I'm aiming to work in network security, starting uni in the fall. What's the work like? Was it hard to find a job? Do you have any advice for me going into the program?

It's all temporary.

If your priorities have changed they've changed. Doesn't mean you should rubbish your actions to date.

How old are you?

Having a degree does not ensure success u fag. You just suck and thought doing one thing (in this case, lifting) will unJUST your life automatically.

Just stop obsessing with lifting. Smashing sluts is overrated, partying is overrated because you just end up shitfaced with nothing to show for it but how "cool" you are. Use your time wisely. Do you want to end up like me? Or do you want to own a BMW M6 by 26?

Why the fuck do people make such a deal about lifting. It literally only has to takes up 5 hours a week, and if you're doing it right, you've got gym bros and it's also a fun activity that you look forward too.

Taking diet out of the equation (which is stupid, I know) What other activity can you only do 5 hours a week, less than 5% of your waking hours, and be better than 95% of the general population. Fucking nothing.

You ended up exactly where you belonged with you ability level. Dunning-kruger is in full force.

Just keep at it faggot. Whining gets you literally no where.

Its nit just LIFTING YOU FUCKING BLIND FUCK I WASTED ENOUGH TIME TO REALISE I COULDVE DONE BETTER. Im still a loser, if i didnt want to be the skinny kid in high school i shouldve dealt with that dueing high school. No one gives a fuck if youre skelly now, but if youre successful THATS going to be more impressive than just being buff

>he fell for the "lifting for girls" meme
>he didn't lift for himself
This is where you fucked up; you lifted to get pussy and not to better yourself. Smashing puss should only be the byproduct of a better you, not the goal.

Also this.

I lift because it makes my job easier if I'm built better. I also lift so that in the future I will be able to actually interact with my children.

Personally, I think Jeff Seid in a BMW is going to have more enjoyable sex/life than a dyel nerd with 100 Rolls Royces and model GFs. Being fit and dominant will make you desired in the carnal sense, whereas being rich will make you desired. There's a big difference in the satisfaction that comes from both of those, unless you really, really get off to degradation/humiliation where you know she's just sucking your cock because she's a money grubbing whore, as opposed to her animalistic desire.

>100 Rolls Royces
Diminishing returns. I can't even ride in more than one at a time.

What's with the fixation with cars, OP? Are you also a dicklet?

>no one gives a fuck

Thread is cancer

Mfw i resonate with this
Mfw by the time you had a feeling about it, it's already too little too late

Fuck you zyzz

Status symbol.

OP is very insecure and needs others to think he's powerful.

The very definition of beta.

As we're all user here, might as well tell you, grass is no greener on the other side. Managed to setup my own firm at 23, it was focused on an extremely niche product. Sold it 2 years ago for around 10 million, was pretty lucky even with all the work put in over the years.

Sitting in a $5000 office chair at age 32, weighing 130lbs and barely able to bench 30kg, I regret massively not enjoying my teenage and adult years. Life in now centered on material exploits like restaurants and drinking. Work doesn't interest me. Lifting weights takes away time you could be doing coke or being fawned over by an escort, so even though I want the results, I'm not doing the work needed to get them.

I am unhappy. Like, fundamentally unhappy. I see the CBT threads here, bros with their muscle strings, I would give everything up to be 22 and living their lives.

Envy and jealousy are poison, and will ruin every happy thought you will have. Someone always has it better, but you don't know what struggles they are going through. Don't let them take over user, you won't like the man you become.

Guy i stalked on fb has a bmw m6. And no lets not kid ourslves here, his parents didn't buy him the car

Proof that lifting does not fix brain problems.

>stalking a guy for his car
Literally why? Stalking a guy because he's aesthetic is way less gay than what you are doing.

you're so materialistic

how will being rich change anything? you're just desperate for approval from others

if you're DYEL when you're poor, you'll still feel bad about your body if you're DYEL when you're rich

you can measure wealth, but wealth doesn't correlate to happiness

Op here, no shut the fuck up. With $10 million, nothing is stopping you from doing what you want aside from buying out Apple. You're fucking lying, theres literally nothing stopping you. Id rather have $10 million at 32 so i could starting workout late than be 32 with a nice bod with mediocre wealth. DONT FUCKING MAKE THIS SHIT UP

You can work towards building wealth at 32 with a nice bod if you're not a total loser like you are, OP.

$10 million? Dont think so, by the time i have $10 million (unlikely) id be too old to enjoy it. Its like those people who save up their money to enjoy during retirement, no point.

If you have the skill and drive, sure. The problem with people like you is that your goals and desires are above your drive and skill level. This is why you are miserable. You lust for things you could not have because you are literally shit.

How is lifting for vanity reasons any different from being materialistic?

I should've realised the similarities sooner. Really, how is being materialistic over lifting for vanity any different? Its two side of te same coin except being wealthy is far more valued when youre beyond college age

Think about those mistress who fuck billionaire tycoons at 70. No amount of lifting will compare NONE.

you lift to improve yourself, not to be vain

you want to make money to be vain, not to improve yourself

you're just vain

Ho hum, you might be right. You'd probably do a better job as me, eh? Wish there was like a bodyswap machine.

> theres literally nothing stopping you.

People aren't rational tho OP. You say that you can fix every issue with your life and be 100% happy forever if you had more cash on hand - I really don't think that's true. What makes you happy? Is it literally just money?

Well im making this thread because nearly everyone here is lifting for he same reason i did, so it's appropriate here.

Also youre wrong, if what you said were true i would still be the skinny kid, but i derived enough motivation to change except i had my goals wrong all along

Stop pretending Veeky Forums doesnt lift to look good and to fuck girls. JUST STOP. If you cant be honest in this discussion then just leave.

you're making a lot of assumptions - namely people are lifting for the same reason you're lifting (for girls)

i don't lift for girls and i'm pretty sure that a lot of people on here don't lift for girls, i lift to be happier about my body

it seems like you're going to spend your entire life trying to chase girls and spend your entire life miserable in the process

you need to think about why you're doing the things your doing

>nearly everyone here is lifting for he same reason i did
Speak for yourself retard

Your motivation is only enough for a good physique, not a good professional life. Git gudder or git out

Lets not sugar coat it.
No amount of muscles on me can compare to you in terms of power, influence, and authority.

Money shoudlve been my true goal because money is more power, influence, and authority than any zyzz or jeff seid can muster

>money should have been my goal
Lel retard. Money is not the goal. Money is a byproduct. You are literally stupid

>professional life
What the fuck are you talking about? Don't kid yourself, nearly everyone here lifts for vanity reasons, you canot tell me that isnt true, just fuck off

Why don't you just do both?
Get swole, get rich, pick up a hobby or two, hang out with your friends, eat good food, shoot guns, play videogames, whatever you like.

>he bases his entire life around money

>No amount of muscles on me can compare to you in terms of power, influence, and authority.

Well that depends, doesn't it. I mean, lock us both in a room, who has more power? You could beat the shit out of me. It's subjective. There's different forms of power.

Remember the episode of friends where Monica's boyfriend wanted to become UFC champion? All his millions didn't help him in the ring.

>nearly everyone here
Stop. Like I said, speak for yourself. I lift to look good, but since I'm only slightly retarded lifting is not my ONLY thing, as in I have a personality outside of lifting.

why not both though? It's not black and white.
Im getting a double degree in
information technology engineering and computer science and i workout to offset me sitting for 12 hours a day and to clear my head.
Working out takes like 5 hours a week,it's not like you have to put your life on hold in order to get gains.
Most people in my classes workout aswell.

Okay then how do you obtain power, influence, and authority? Im definitely not saying if i wake up tomorrow with $1billion it'll automatically make me powerful, im talking about the direction of my journey, that is he direction towards making money over getting buff to fuck girls and party

No come on, locking both of us in a room? If you look me with a cocky 18 year old kid with nothing going for him, ill knock him out just to get him out of my face, but lets say you locked me in with justin bieber at 18. In the spirit of honesty, id think twice before touching him

Don't project yourself onto me sperglord.

Your life is shit and you're looking for scapegoats, not going to find them here. Stop lifting and work on your career if you're so convinced of the wisdom of that course of action.

Mfw spent thousands of hours lifting
Mfw spent thousands of hours playing games
Mfw spent thousands of hours enjoying things and hanging out with friends that won't net me any social or economical benefits in the future
Mfw spent thousands of hours learning things that won't make me money

truly a life wasted; mfw I didn't work 18 hours a day for the past 20 years and future 40 to become a billionaire and enjoy my POWER when I'm 60

y even live if you don't have money that can buy power? literally power is the 1 thing for happiness it's going to solve all my problems and insecurities 100%

Read Also, partying and smash girls isnt time-free

...

i don't care about "power, influence, and authority" because i'm satisfied living my own life for myself, not trying to impress others and i don't get some ego boost from thinking i'm important

you're deluded in thinking that being "powerful" is important but the reality is no matter how many people might think you're "rich" or "powerful" or whatever meaningless descriptor you use to talk about yourself isn't at all important

That's because youve experienced true power influence and authority

>having an active sexual and social life is overrated but owning an expensive car isn't
Nice priorities, man, real wisdom here

i'm a college student

>then how do you obtain power, influence, and authority
Don't be you. You reek of loser.

>he thinks its just owning an expensive car

Where does one get the money?
How does one work towards obtain said money to comfortably buy such a car that it wont hurt his financial position?

Youre thinking if god suddenly dropped you a ferrari, it'll automatically make your life better than what your post described. Why do you purposely create fallacious posts to prove you're right?

\I'm 24. I lift. I hate my life.

Why does every oldfag automatically assume just because you're young, you must be happy?

>That's because youve experienced true power influence and authority
Have you? Protip: you haven't

ThEn its because youre a college student. Tell it to me when youre my age (26) or even 30, or 40. Are you still going to lift with the same dedication at 40 than you did at 20? Dont be ridiculous.

It was my first post of the thread, I don't think I am who you think you're talking to. Also, your post is nonsense, I didn't understand the point you're trying to make.

And thats why i said ive been focussing on the wrong goal. If youre just being venomous for no reason, just leave.

Reread your post again, it had zero contribution to this thread topic, idiot

i would hope so

because being happy about my body is one of the best things you can have in life

"your body is the only thing you truly own in this world" is absolutely true and i don't believe in giving up (unlike you, who changes their priorities depending on the actions of other people)

You dont own it when you have to wake up to go to work oherwise youd wont be able to make your mortgage repayments. You don't understand this because youre a college student

you really think that you are just an underachiever who focused on the wrong things? that if you spent your life in a different way you'd definitely be rich as fuck? chances are you'd be bankrupt and broke and not flourishing in riches like that engineer guy you speak so much of, YOU ARE NOT HIM - YOU ARE NOT HIS TALENTS AND WISDOM - HE DID IT NOT YOU YOU WERE NEVER ABLE TOO

>unlike you, who changes their priorities depending on the actions of other people
And here we go again about the "I do things for myself" meme. If you didn't say you were a college student, anybody could have guessed.

>this retard fixated on status symbols calls me an idiot
Oh wow

>implying i'm ever going to own a house
houses cost too much, completely overrated, what would i need a house for? raising a family? because "i need to" have a house? fuck that noise

you do own your body, and if you're some guy having power fantasies about wanting to make billions of dollars whilst repaying his mortgage and being delusional about what his "friends" have on facebook and being too wrapped up in his own fantasies to lift then you're even more pathetic than i thought

you're the kind of guy to blow all his wages in a casino and then blame the system for not getting rich

Oh look a naysayer. How many people have said tat skinny kid will be forever skinny, how many people have said hat fat fuck will forever be a far fuck. How many have said anything different. You only say this because this is the current status quo. I doubt you expect the engineer guy to be successful beyond your expectstions 5 years ago either. Idiot naysayer

>anybody could have guessed.
How was i wrong then?

Let me guess, you also lift "for yourself"? Lmao... You don't, and we both know it even if you're in denial

how many people go and start their own engineering firm at 23? LIKE SEVEN, and you're one of them? the huge cuck from Veeky Forums obsessed with others material things and delusional about his own self identity? HMMM

Wait, so youre telling me if i had the same dedication to be financially successful as i had with lifting and wanting to get out of the skinny kid label, i would not be substantially more wealthy than i am now?

That opportunity is gone so we're only discussing hypotheticals, but youre so wrong its nauseating. Your denial is pretty much denying effort correlates with reward.

be honest here, are you really spending 12 hours a day into lifting? because thats what you need to start a company. (you probably spend about an average of 1 hour a day on your lifting hobby who the fuck are you bullshitting m8)

effort doesn't correlate with reward

only the most successful people are the ones who put in huge amounts of effort, but some people are just lucky or have good connections, and you can never change that

you never hear about the people who spend their entire life trying to reach the top, putting in countless hours every day and then fail because they're not the ones boasting about their failures

true happiness comes from within

okay i forgot to mention times spent living in my own ego, e.g. Smashing, clubbing, partying.

Look, thread was just me coming to some sort of existential realisation that i fucked up and if i had spent the same dedication on a different goal i would be in a position that's enough to make the current me jealous and realised i fucked up. That is all.

what's your obsession with jealousy? surely if you're so obsessed about "making current me jealous" shouldn't you be lifting to make yourself look better?

trying to understand your logic and all the flaws in which you view your life is hurting my head

ok I can tell you are hurting. The base level of happiness varies GREATLY, there are people who are in chronic pain all the time(some of them rich as fuck) and they vary from completely happy to depressed, there's always a new carrot to chase or a new bunny to fuck this is how we are wired. the worst thing you can do to poison your mind is looking at others and feeling only envy - you have lived your life so far the way you wanted it

>shouldn't you be lifting to make yourself look better?
Are you serious right now? Do you think im some 18 year old dyel or something? You think this realisation didnt hit me hard?

I already did that you fucking idiot, hence, partying and smashing girls

>no answer
Oh well i was actually curious

>already did
you can always be thinner, look better

plus you wasted your 20s "partying and smashing girls" and now are complaining about not being as successful as people who were dedicated to reaching their goals

the problem isn't that you've spent all your time lifting, the problem is that you've spent your entire adult life so far in a hedonistic lifestyle with no case about the future and it shows through your daydreams of wealth and complaining about the achievements of others that nothing has changed

even if you had tonnes of cash i reckon you'd throw it away in an instant because you seem like exactly the kind of person who only lives in the present and i'm pretty sure the only reason you got fit was to "smash girls" so you didn't even get fit for yourself

you've been living your entire life under the shadow of others and instead of moving out of the shadow, you're trying the shine the spotlight on yourself

wake up

...

>tfw government lawyer
>tfw i lift before work and still get home at 5pm and have time to pursue my hobbies
>tfw i made it financially, physically, mentally and spiritually

Feels fucking GOAT man

You goofed

Being fit and having a successful career are not mutually exclusive. I suggest you quit whining and fix whatever's not working for you.

Thats because of affirmative action in USA you nigger

Report and hide.

Am i the only one that also lifts for mental health? Not literally like if i don't exercise i go insane but more like it's the time in the week i have for release. A time my mind is clear

Lets not kid ourselves, you lift to look better. Would you still lift if it only helped with your mental health while, for some magical reason, making zero muscle gains? Answer would be no or less likely

It's why i say also. And looking better makes me feel good so it's not like it's a seperate thing

So why bring up mental health when its not even the main reason you lift? Fuck ose people who cant be honest with why they lift. You do it because you want to lok better and not be a pushover. Be honest Veeky Forumsfags
