It's been hard, guys. I've been crawling my way back to where I was, clawing. When I destroyed my collar bone I lost everything I had been working towards. I had gotten so complacent, so comfortable. Then it was all gone. I regained the 160 pounds I lost. The plates I'd slowly stacked up fell away - I couldn't even move the bar without something snapping, without everything toppling to the ground again.
It's been 10 months.
I've lost 170 pounds.
I weigh less than I did in the 7th grade.
And the weights are right where I left them - waiting for me. That plate press, two on the bench, I was happy to see them again. Like old friends. My squat and deadlift are waiting for me. Right where I left them.
Today was one of those blessed days where I did not wish that I was never born.
