Guys i'm an alcoholic and i'd rather die than quit drinking how do i stay fit

I always jog for 15 minutes before hitting the gym, which i do three times a week but that's all.
I drink mostly beer 4-5 times a week.
I'm 180cm x 68kg trying to gain weight

beer is shit for gains. white wine or vodka is the way to go.

kcal in kcal out still matter, it's just harder to bulk and cut since a lot of your macros go to shit

Lol I (23) used to get sloppy toppy. Waking up in ditches, punching out lightbulbs, face planting, crushing 40's brah and smashing pussy wasted. I'd go to work fuckin hammered from the night before. Went to rehab, AA, nothing worked.
I mean, I was tired of acting like a fool though. I wanted more respect than that and alcohol was preventing me from getting it. I smoked pot for a week mostly dry and it those highs was able to realize that drinking was just a waste of my time. I drink a beer here and there but all in all made a complete turnaround.. so its possible thats all I'm saying.

fuck weed. i have low blood pressure and low heart rate in general, when i used to smoke i would just sit quiet on the couch for hours. also makes me depressed.

Yeah weed is nuts man. I fucked with synthetics heavy (wew lad) and smoking real weed took on a whole different vibe. I could take one big hit and have a full blown panic attack.
I also have a wierd heart too. It would be all I thought about. "My heart is a little beating muscle organ thats been beating since I was 0 and if it stops, which it will one day, but might right now, I'm fucked"
All that said though...
There is still benefits to taking a small hit and using it to remove some of the filters in your brain and gain perspective on things. Just got to face your fears a little bit.

i don't know dude. i was always skinny, and i used to drink only when i went out.
last year i started working out casually at home doing pushups and i started to make gains really fast. after 3 months i would not grow anymore, instead my belly would get bigger since i started to drink more beer. with the amount of cardio i do now i can keep it down but i can't get the abs to show. now i've been going to the gym for 5 months and i'm making decent gains but the belly just stays there

1 year ago I came off a high octane ethanol diet consisting of nothing but 24+ beers or a fifth of vodka. It evolved to the point where I was requiring a handle of vodka a day to keep my booze gains. I'd give it another year before people would be 'mirin my scarred liver and dysfunctional pancreas. I then decided to enroll in rehab program, in which I graduated with honors.
Got into the gym. Progress is represented 1 year post physically-dependent alcoholism.

no program. When you get clean and cease drinking alcohol after its your soul source of nutrition, you become ravenous. I gained 30lbs in 3 months. I hit the gym with absurd intensity every day. (I missed 4 days in a calendar year). It was my AA.

That feel when you quit drinking and realise basically everything involves alcohol when it comes to socialising.

Honestly though if you drink often and suddenly stop you will notice a difference.

More energy, better sleep, better skin, basically everything is better, and if you miss getting drunk trying to pull dirty skets just remember you can replace alcohol with a healthy dating/hookup addiction instead.

Can someone define 'heavy' drinking for me? I've been going through a single fifth of vodka a weekend for awhile now and while I'm still gaining size, I always wonder if I could be gaining more. I drink 1/3 of the bottle thrus, fri and sat night. It helps me get to sleep on the weekend to get up at 6am and hit the gym to next day.

I understand that. But I have pretty strong willpower. I've already quit both smoking and video games cold turkey, I feel like I can handle it. It's only temporary too due to circumstances I really don't feel like sharing. I just don't know if the level that I'm at is considered heavy yet or not.

(Recovering) Alcoholic here.

It's incredibly difficult to be fit and a true alcoholic. I'm talking 4-5 Litres of beer PER DAY (Which was me) or whatever the equivalent is in liquor. You will constantly be dehydrated, your macros will be shit, your recovery will be incredibly slow, and you're going to end up eating shit all day because when you're trashed most of the day, a few double quarter pounders with cheese or a large double pepperoni, double cheese, double bacon pizza with a jar of jalapeno ranch dressing seems like a good idea. And you'll be so goddamn full from eating shit food and drinking booze, that one meal a day is probably all you'll be able to manage.

So, if you're anything like me 4 months ago, just accept that you're an alcoholic and that you're going to always be a fat or skinny fat bastard with nothing to show for the workouts you do once or twice every couple of weeks.

If you want to stay fit and continue drinking, then you need to regulate how much you drink and how often. 1-2 beer a day or binge drink on the weekends for a day or two. Both are still pretty terrible if you want great gains, but you're sure as shit not going to achieve anything if you have a real alcohol dependency.

Been sober since 06 Mar, lost 16lbs now (muscle mass gains not included) and huge gains in strength and cardio since then. Also, for what it's worth, and I realize I'm going to sound preachy, you don't realize how shitty booze are for you until you stop drinking them. I had forgotten how much energy and motivation I had to actual do things when I wasn't constantly shit faced or hung-over.

Take it from a recovering alcoholic/addict (17 months) everything you're saying is typical of someone getting embroiled in addiction. Quitting alcohol isn't the same as quitting cigs or video games for someone who is drinking a moderate amount of hard liquor alone every weekend to sleep. Do yourself a favor and stop drinking alone or you'll likely start drinking more as your tolerance builds to achieve the same effect. Also it compromises your gains.

Cheap Vladdy vodka crew. Cheap, effective, and doesn't kill gains.
