The entire wing stank even after the nurses put enough air freshener in the air that it was chemically more Febreze than oxygen. The stink didn't go away at all, hours later. I breathed through my shirt. Some of the nurses soaked their collars or masks with a scented oil.

We had one patient, old black lady around 65 or 70 so not ancient enough to ought to be there. Huge. Easily 600 lbs. Thank god I didn't have to deal with her but I saw her every day, always with the doublewide wheelchair and parked it across the hall from the kitchen/dining room. Said she was watching tv but actually just stole pudding off the cart whenever it came within her grasp. The kitchen crew was real in and out, high turnover, always new folk she could coax into giving her a "snack." Bitch ate enough pudding cups to build a bridge to australia with 'em. The fucking things lasted all of half a minute in her hands before it was gone.
