What career choice should I pick in college?

what career choice should I pick in college?

I was going to go to Law school, but didnt want a profession that'll make me wrapped up in crime and depression 24/7..

I'm leaning towards Pre-Med, but I don't know if I'll be that interested in it t b h.

Anybody have any good ideas for professions/career choices in college?

Physical therapists make a shit load of money and dont have to do anything.

do something you are sure you want.

stem fields aren't easy, if you aren't interested in it and invest in it you will fail eventually and just waste your time and your dad's money

as for suggestions, mine would be chemical engineering. it all depends on where you live as well

Do sales. good money, fun life style, you gain the skill of dealing with people IE mad game.

Depends what you want out of life.
Fancy car, desk work, high pay? Go back to Law.
Wanna drown in pussy? Marine biology. You'll still be doing actual science but without the nerdiness. Chicks'll know you're "like way smart and like care about whales and dolphins and the environment and stuff".
Easy street? Probably HR, be a festering boil on the ass of someone with ambition's company.

Salesmen are almost universally despised by everyone but gold diggers. The only reason anyone talks to a salesman is because they have to.

>make a shit load of money
Where the fuck?

Currently in STEM and I fucking hate it. Just waking up and dragging myself to class is a pain. I mean I can to the work but ultimately I fucking despise it. Told my parent straight out of college Im going into the police academy and never pursuing education again. They were actually jumping with joy since my mexi bean parents have no idea what a geophysicist is or what he does for a living.

So what job should you get? Get a respectable job that everyone can look up to and one thatll keep you fit. Choose from the following:
>Firefighter
>Police officer
>SWAT
>Nurse (somewhat fit but youll drown in pussy if you somewhat alpha)
>Pilot

>respectable job
>police

kek

edge

true tho. OP asked for a career from college, not some shitty degree from a 2-year CC. You tell people you're a cop and they just think you're uneducated, even if you do have a good job

>he dudnt dooo nuffn'
>you

>tell me what should I do with my life

not gonna make it

Implying you wouldnt have more respect for a cop than a graduate student working on his masters thesis on how bacteria can mold onto theoretical space particles

Nigger

Pick something where you can make lot's of money, I'm trying to get into investment banking or ideally working as a quant in a hedge fund

1) Pic related is not a cop
2) OP's question wasn't about "respek" but "good ideas for professions" -- being a cop is not a good idea, it's a result of poor planning and needing $
3) Why do you have such a hard on for cops? Nobody said anything, it's just obviously not going to be an educated persons first choice. It's NOBODY's first choice.
>a graduate student working on his masters thesis on how bacteria can mold onto theoretical space particles
Nobody even suggested this? You're fishing

You're correct, I would respect a scientist more than a cop. Not sure what your point is.

Finance and consulting pay well and a lot of guys in those fields somehow stay in shape.

implying respect only comes from faggot outsiders who in reality think you are fucking ridiculous and retarded but don't say it to your face because they don't want to end up paying a fine

Work construction, get gains working

i'm whiter than you most likely faggot

Not all lawyers are involved in crime you moron. The majority of lawyers don't do anything with crime. Most are in tort law, taxes, property, civil offenses, contract law, patent law, or any other specialization.

To answer your question, major in Finance and minor in stats at a state school. That combination will make you so much money its stupid. A stats minor will raise your starting salary out of college by $5000-$8000.

>tfw when fucked up scholarship
>fucked up student loans
>dont want to join military
>currently dead end unarmed security guard

> Middle class and lower detected

>Thinking employers actually give a shit what you minored in

im thinking about majoring in economics

how fucked am I?

>getting this triggered
>doubt it you slave

most attorneys don't deal with crime

law school is after undergrad too you fucking retard

Education is a meme.

Accounting.

-Easy if you have half a brain
- Only takes an undergrad degree to make six figures
- get a title to put next to your name (CPA)
- secure and in high demand
-respectable

I'm going to school for it and not looking back.

>masters thesis on how bacteria can mold onto theoretical space particles

That actually sounds interesting tbqh senpai.

>law
>pre-med

top kek. Have fun with your communications degree

If really want to do pre-med you better buckle down. The people that aren't serious don't make it. I've seen so many of my friends just drop it even when they were already well down the road.

The sooner you realize that the whole entire world will have you wrapped up in something that will ultimately depress you the better, you sweet summer child.

Why do you hate STEM? What are you doing exactly?

Electrician

College is for making money. Law School costs too much for the off chance that you become the top dog at a firm, where most likely you'll just be a bureaucrat that makes moderate money.

Anything in the medical field, engineering, and accounting is good. Marketing, social work, and teaching will give reliable work, but have their flaws.

Anything else is just colleges trying to scam you out of money. I can't wait until the college bubble bursts and a bunch of colleges go under, so the system will finally be reformed.

STEM LYFE

Double M.Sc in Physics and Electrical Engineering.
I got a Ph.D position offer in quantum computation but I might prefer High energy physics.

I'm not OP but what should I major in if I want to have an interesting life full of traveling and shit? Everything that has been mentioned (Law, STEM, etc) sounds boring af.

Mechanical engineering here. STEM was really ever the only choice for me. I can't imagine anything more boring than law.

get your bachelors in criminology with a film minor
the get your private investigation license
buy trenchcoat and fedora

>tfw graduated in electronic engineering two years ago
>don't even like the field
>can't even find a job
>have to juggle between learning a new useful skill and thinking where to get money for living
>will most likely end up working on entry-level clerk or cashier job for the next few years

Just go to grad school, put off real life for a while longer

idk about majoring, but get into advertising and business

He's an engi grad, grad school is only gonna be worse for him. If he ain't got the grads for it he's gotta get experience in his field, which as he says ain't gonna happen.
As I say to all folks: If you're white, go to Asia, get a pretend white people job, and bang pussy every day.

That's what I love about being in med school; there may be plenty of fancy, trendy, high-tech fields like Quantum Memetics or whatever, where you can make millions within years from graduation, but a med school diploma is literally the only one that guarantees you will have at least a decent job.

It's not hard to get a job after specialising in quantum mechanics after physics M.Sc for example. The field is about to explode soon and there's not nearly enough people who are competent in QM.

I'm still doing my M.Sc and I already got job offers from private companies hiring for R.D in quantum computation.

1) STEM field, whatever works
2) Learn programming, seriously
3) Never be out of work
4) Profit

>Too dumb to deal with numbers and shit like engineering, etc so STEM is out of the question.
>Decide to major in Criminal Justice because being an investigator seems like something I would be good at and it also seems interesting.
>Tfw classes alone are killing my enthusiasm for this career.
>The only thing I'm good at is lifting heavy things and putting them back down again plus writing but I can't make a living on either.

Seriously just kill me now. All I wanna do is travel, write, and expand my understanding of who it is that I am and what I'm supposed to do with my life.

>wants to write
>wants to avoid having soul crushing experiences with the seedy underbelly underneath the glitz and glam of this corrupt city
cmon man why write if you're not gonna write noirs

Ok, I'm by no means saying they are garbage degrees that get you job as a barrista, but there's a significant difference between "not hard to get a job" and "practically impossible to be unemployed".

You see, I'm a recovering addict with a 5 year long hole in my CV and medicine is probably the only field where spending a good chunk of my youth playing grand strategy games while high on speed or just getting drunk in bed will not put me on the dead end on list of candidates for every position I apply to.

How much dick did your dad suck to give you your life user?

As much as yours did seeing how you want to be a slave in the 21st century

Criminal justice is what retards choose

I've literally never met an intelligent person studying criminal justice lmao

If they're smart, they become a lawyer

If they're dumb, they become a cop

If they're really dumb and don't even know it, they study criminal justice

Straight out of college you have two options, lab tech or graduate school. Wasting away life to meaningless research is meme as fuck. Sure you found out how EM waves travel through a fault, big fucking whoop, guaranteed four years later your research is disproved and a higher more prestigious college expands your theory and gets all the recognition. You live a boring meaningless life pursuing research that people in the outside world, normies, dont give a shit about. The general public doesnt want to hear your theories let alone even want to stay in a conversation while you talk about your """""ground breaking"""""" research. Youre the equivalent of someone wearing a fedora except your black trenchcoat is replaced with a white coat and some plastic goggles.

But hey you can wake up every morning and say you graduated because thats all that fucking matters now right? And you can say you do something exciting for a living....right? Fuck out of here.

>Implying lifting really heavy object and putting them back down isnt dumb as well.

Sounds pointless
>you

Most of the way through a medical degree atm, you can ask me anything I guess. It's pretty top notch, super interesting and you get a lot of respect from people but it's a lot of hard work.

do you have a gf?

What's that shit like?

Yes I do, she gets a bit worried that we won't have much time to spend with each other, but there's not much I can do about that.

Nurses and doctors make bank and have the ability to travel for work.

So I'm 18 and gonna be starting school in September for mechanical engineering - what should I expect, both in class, as well as once a graduate?

Is criminology a meme?

>asking this in college
Just dropout and become a blue collar lmao

>can do the work
Of course you can. Any retard can do geophysics lmao.
Good job giving up though, you've saved yourself the embarrassment of graduating with a bottom-of-the-barrel specialization that made you miss all of the skills that makes a physics major valuable.

The average is 85k a year, and they earn 40+ dollars an hour in multiple states. It's not usually a six figure job, but it's pretty solid money and is usually chill and doesn't require taking your work home.

It's almost as meme as psychology

You're joking right? The smart ones end up at body farms to learn and end up in the FBI making bank.

>Physics Major Valuable

fuck dude

So, what's a good major if I want to do law/government work? I'm too retarded for STEM and everything else is uninteresting.

I don't even have a passion or dream or any of that stupid shit, I just want money and a comfortable living.

...

sure is buddy

How do you go to Asia and get a "white people" job?

Asking for future reference.

>my only strong interests are literature, philosophy, and history
>other than environmental science every other option makes me want to blow my brains out

At least my parents are wealthy

>it's a /pol/ steals and modifies Veeky Forums content episode
>engineering
>ever above good tier
>my sides when

i still found it interesting to have a skim of though

>Oracle
Prepare to pack your shit lmao
arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/05/google-wins-trial-against-oracle-as-jury-finds-android-is-fair-use/

>Nursing in good tier
>Biology in great tier
>mathematics in God-tier
>Geophysics mentioned twice

What fucking retard made this?

W-what's wrong with nursing? Coming from someone working on their BSN

Nothing. He's just a faggot engineer.

>2016
>going to college

You'll never make it.

Nothing. Nursing should be up on god tier. If you can earn a Masters in Nursing or even a PhD then you can earn more than a doctor ever would. And getting a high-ish paying job is attainable after 2 years of just a CC.

You need a masters for a cpa though.

Not Op but im thinking of going to college to be a paramedic, not bad money and can easily stay fit

sounds kinda stressful though

Yeah thats my main concern I feel like the job mainly deals with death and transporting corpses

>get a title to put next to your name (CPA)

1.you need a master's or 150 credits
2.You need to PASS the cpa exam

Sounds like someone failed calc 2

Law or politics you wanker. Its not that hard. Wanna do law? Study law. Wanna go into government? Study politics. Not sure? Study politics and go to law school. If you done live in 'murica, law school + an MBA isnt even that expensive

Lmao he was thinking of doing geophysics, of course he failed calc 2.

>tfw interested in physics since high school
>tfw went to top 10 physics school for undergrad, loved it
>tfw research for 3 years with various profs, loved it
>tfw going to Princeton for PhD and will most likely love it
>tfw $300k starting salary any job i want when i wave my PrettyhugeDick from Princeton at intel or IBM

I may be weak, but at least i'm making it where it counts

At least you found something to study that you actually enjoy. I'm so lost I don't even know where to start or major in.

Haven't seen this meme in a while

>research for 3 years
>implying any faculty member would use a sophomore in any tangible way
>implying any grad program would take anyone that fucked around for 3 years before moving on
Lmao if you're going to meme at least make it believable.

derive the lagrangian for a double pendulum

paramedics make terrible money.

Is that Mike "around blacks never relax" Stoklasa?

plenty of people do research starting their freshman or sophomore year
grad schools look for research and publishing history

What kind of job would I need to develop Deus Ex level robotic body parts? How long would I need to go to school for that?
