Someone decided to make octangular plates and thought it was a good idea

Found in shitty gyms which forbid deadlifting (idk why, for people's safety or floor damage or something third...)

There a pain in the ass when you deadlift because if the bar moves too far way from you when you bring it back down In between reps you can't just roll it close to you like with round plates.

When you lower them to the floor they have the tendency of hitting the floor with the corner, then moving one of the sides out of position (which can throw you off a bit too).

As they're not round, you can't roll them back into position.
So you have to keep moving around and adjusting your stance, or lifting one of the sides and trying to settle them down in the proper place.

My gym (portland state university) has octagon plates in the racks, benches, and machines, and dedicated bumper plates at a pair of olympic platforms.
