Is it safe to keep running while your shin bone is a bit in pain ? not too painful, just a little bit...

is it safe to keep running while your shin bone is a bit in pain ? not too painful, just a little bit. i'm not used to running and i want to run everyday, i'm very impatient to get slimmer.

I did just that and got some kind of inflammation that lasted forever. I would not recommend. Even months later I couldn't walk more than a few hundred meters before it was painful. It took maybe 2 years to go away completely.

Sounds like it might be shin splints OP. Never keep running if you think you're injured in anyway, you can't just run through it.

I went running last year and felt a slight pain in my achilles tendon. I walked home immediately but even so I couldn't run for 2 months because I tore my tendon.

Just take it slow or you'll regret it. Always stretch and ramp up slowly.

> i'm not used to running

That's why its happening. They're called shin splints and its microtearing, same as when lifting.

You can overtrain and put yourself behind. Just rest like a day like you would with weights (do some light walking in that time to keep the "going running" habit going) and then get back into it when it heals. It will stop happening if you are consistent and not running like a tard.

no it will get worse.

shin pain = damage of the bone

the bone is even weaker when repairing itself, so running while in pain will cause greater damage. you may get stress fractures if you run through enough pain.

it's best to give running and rest and do other cardio

> It will stop happening if you are consistent and not running like a tard.

no, actually shin splints can get a lot worse if you keep running.

I said to take a break until it heals, you illiterate fuck.

> It will stop happening if you are consistent and not running like a tard.

ummmmm? sorry sweetheart ;) x

>and then get back into it when it heals.
>when it heals

Keep collecting those chromosomes, senpai.

Stop running you fucking autist. You'll only make it worse and fuck yourself over. If you really need cardio go swimming or get a bike.

>run on a softer surface, like grass or dirt trails
>make sure you have proper shoes
>make sure you're increasing your mileage a max of 10% per week, especially since you're new to running
>stretch before you run
>get proper nutrition and ensure you're sleeping enough
and if you're a fat fuck
>lose weight before starting to jog otherwise you'll obliterate a wide variety of possibilities in your legs/knees

what the h*ck is your problem man?

literally all i did was explain why i misconstrued your post and apologised, dick.

>lose weight before starting to jog
well, i jog to lose weight. if i can lose weight quickly without jogging, i'd never jog. i don't care about health, i just wanna look good.

>dick
you mean d*ck right? stop triggering me, i identify as snail so I have no dick

what other cardio that doesn't involve gym, buying new stuffs, and swimming pools ? i tried to run because it's free, i don't have to pay for anything and i think that's how human sports should be. and swimming pools, i hate taking off my shirt in public + swimming is not free

Swim in the ocean
Most sports
Cycling

Ideally you'd swap these out each time you do cardio to keep your body guessing.

but how important is sport to losing weight ?

Kind of important, but nutrition is better.

kind of ? so it doesn't contribute much to lose weight ?

>if i can lose weight quickly without jogging, i'd never jog.
Stop eating. You'll lose weight quickly without having to do any exercise at all. Not that you should actually do this, but there is no reason not to do exercises that are easier on you before you lost enough weight.

>i don't care about health, i just wanna look good.
That's what you think now and will regret if you fucked up your legs/knees.

Just read the fucking sticky.

Well you can't lose weight without burning calories and you can't burn calories without any exercise, while you can't sport on a diet of crap foods.

Not much, you might lose 2-300 calories on a 5k jog, but eating a 1200 cal diet is doable for most people solely trying to lose weight, and your maintenance probably being over 2k, you'd lose twice the jog each day. Sport will help by burning calories, but its easier to never take in the calories than it is to burn it. Also if you're OP, don't run 7 days a week, you'll more than likely fuck something up, maybe 2 rest days a week to break up exercise and give your body time to recover and you'll end up far more productive and lessen the risk of fucking yourself up in the process just to lose a pound or so a week more.

Listen to the anons saying stop running. I had shin splints a year or two back and it started in the same way you're describing. I kept running through it which turned out to be an awful decision as I was in agony a couple of weeks later and could barely jog 30 seconds without feeling pain in my legs. Took over a year to heal too.

Hmm, I'm the only user that's going to buck the trend I guess. Basically you're getting shin splints because your calves are huge, but your corresponding front muscle is not developed. So the source of your pain is a muscle imbalance which won't go away until you build up the muscle. So even if you rest and the pain goes away, it will keep coming back until you build up the muscle.

So first thing to do is FUCKING REST until the immediate pain goes away. You can walk in the meantime, and try jogging every week or so to see if it has healed. Once the pain is not overwhelming, you need to do jumprope, bodyweight squats, light jogging and overall lose weight and you won't have shin splints again.

Holy shit that guys running form is dogshit tier

I had this problem.
Kept running everyday, eventually it went away.

dude, do NOT fuck up your knees, please
If you want to exercise do something that doesn't strain your knees that much, swimming f.ex or maybe cycling? idk

Could be a stress fracture bro, I say stop running for a bit and if it still hurts go see a doctor, (unless you're american lol). If it gets better look into getting some better trainers with more padding (reduce the impact).

my knees are fine. it's the shin bone, especially the one that is 5 inches up from the knee

hey running dudes, will doing any cardio help improve my run time, or does only running improve running?

Trying to get in good enough shape to beat a PT test for a job.

Running and not squating helped decrease My time.

>and not squatting

Huh. I figured that building up muscles in the legs could only help

Try it both ways. It may help you to squat.
