Op i had the same pain from years of daily alcohol abise. I was lucky i felt that swelling and pain. Turns out i had alcoholic hepatitis and that i was well on my way to cirrhosis. For reference people with liver cirrhosis tend to have at max have five years left in them with continued alcohol abuse. Not saying your an alcoholic but you got to quit while your ahead. Ive had family go by liver failure, shit aint pretty.

Most likely never. Only 6 months is really not that long to do as much damage as you have described. Unless you were drinking 3 bottles of 98 proof whiskey a day (which you weren't cause then you'd be dead). What you experienced was most likely due to a predisposition, which means drinking is a bad idea even in moderation. Predisposition only worsen with age so it's really not worth it. Try weed instead or find another outlet for your entertainment, or self-harm.
Yeah it is the only organ which can heal itself, but even that healing has a limit. If he want's to keep his liver he should seriously think about his drinking habits

I drank between 6-20 beers a night, you're probably on the same path as me whether you think itor not. A lot of liver problems (fatty liver, cirrhosis, alcoholic hepatitis) don't normally produce any symptoms, I was just lucky I had some pain and swelling or I'd still be drinking now and doing untold damage to my liver. I'm taking 6 weeks off minimum and you probably should as well.
I don't actually drink daily I just said that so you'd be concerned and reply.
