Well Veeky Forums I'm doing it. Having mini-abdominoplasty to surgically remove lose skin after losing weight, 1 week from today. The total cost came out to 6,500 USD.
The only drawback is going to be up to a month of not working out, at least nothing very strenuous for several weeks after the surgery.
How have you coped with having to take time off? Just thinking about it has me demotivated; knowing I won't be able to do much for awhile has made the last week or so pretty blah.
Worse, I'd thrown my back awhile before that, so by the time I can squat again a month from now, it'll have been about 3 months since I've squat. I feel like I'm going to be starting over, but I guess that can be seen as a kind of reset, a fresh start.

Nice blog post, you homo.

yes i am homo

I figured

I mean you've got a 50/50 shot of being right with any given poster on Veeky Forums.

How much fat are we talking? Trim a little excess, or are we talking grotesque rugs of skin and huge overhang? I guess the question is how fat did you get before you came down.

I was about 280ish, down to a low of 165, but at about 185 right now.
We're talking a moderate amount of loose skin; hard to tell from a front view, but obvious when bending/sitting. I'd kept the weight off for several years before deciding.

Ok. took some pics.

Not very noticeable from the front or side, but hangs over empty.

Wishing I'll end up with only that much. Have you tried going for a very low %bodyfat? Also as far as I know everybody has a bit of fat/skin hanging when they sit/bend. Not that much but you get the point.

>work out to lose weight
>lost weight, now have loose skin
>get surgery to get loose skin removed
>can't workout for a month after surgery
>get fat again
>start working out again, get loose skin once more
>repeat

THE RIDE NEVER ENDS FAMPAI

that's not loose skin, you're just fat.

You don't look bad at all man...I understand the urge to get the skin taken off (I've had two skin removal surgeries myself, but mine was much much MUCH more drastic than yours).
If you are already committed to it then I say god speed.

As for the recovery, don't stress out thinking about it. Take it easy and slowly when getting back to being active and I'm serious when I say that. I had a couple scares myself because I was too anxious to get back into the gym, nearly torn my internal stitches apart.

Wishing you luck man.

This. Just cut OP,don't be stupid and save your gains and money.

At least in those pics that just looks like you still have some fat there. Unless they don't really show the problem somehow, just cut more. Too late to cancel?

Yes. I've been down as low as 165lbs (5'11"). Currently 185. That area looked exactly as it does now.

I'm not here to talk you out of the surgery--if it's a week away that's probably not possible but I can attest that if I had what you have, knowing what I know after months of recovery, I wouldn't do the surgery.

i am one hundred (100) percent (%) miring that waist to shoulder ratio and that shoulder vein

My before and after's for reference.

holy fucking shit dude

No, I see where you're coming from. Recovery after losing 400lbs like you did would be crazy; It should really only be a month tops for me for how little needs to be done. I’ve been down to a pretty low bf not long ago but the area looked little different. I saw some good example photos of patients that looked very similar and the end result was fantastic. I guess that swayed me.

You're an inspiration, brother. Are you in the States? How much did your surgeries cost in total? Did your insurance cover the procedure? Where exactly did they remove the lose skin from? And how bad is it really, does anyone really care if you don't care about it?

I'm on the tail end of my own journey - 430 to 225 now. This is what I was working with at 270, and it's only gotten weirder.

I gotcha.

Yea, sometimes being at a really low bodyfat still won't give that tight look if you have lost a major about so I see where your head is at. I wish you luck man, it will definitely change your body imagine (it did to me).

Tips for the scars:
Be liberal with the scar cream and keep them out of the sun.

Small thing that my dr told me was to always have something on them even if that means just putting scotch tape on them, it really really fucking works. Bio oil etc.

I'm in the states, yes. Southern cali to be specific.

My surgeries were actually covered by my insurance. My doctor agreed with me that having the amount of skin I had was detrimental to my wellbeing in life. He referred me to a plastic surgeon and she was a total bro about it.

My first surgery got rid of all my breast tissue and skin. The dr. pulled up on my skin and pulled down to take the most she could. The second surgery got rid of my "skin skirt" and she also used that time to touch up the first surgery since I already had the scars she could just reopen them.

How bad was it? Ha. It was awful man. I couldn't wear clothes normally. I couldnt run or jog and generally I didn't receive any flack from other people, it was mostly just me judging myself. As for the surgeries, they were scary but I wouldn't change a thing. Recovery was true hell but I just spent the time with close friend and family and waited til I could get back out to the world again.

Well done man, you are doing great. Your physique looks like a greek god compared to what mine use to look like haha. Keep it up, it gets easier.

Holy fuck nice one user, heres a meme just for you

>I couldnt run or jog and generally I didn't receive any flack from other people, it was mostly just me judging myself.

Sounds like hell, man. I'm glad you made it through. Did you lift weights as you cut down to build up muscle mass beneath the skin? Or did you cut first to a reasonable weight before you started working on your legit ripped physique?

I've had the same Doctor for 8 years and he's been with me the entire way, so even though my situation won't be as bad as yours (except for that thigh skin man, holy shit) he'll cut me a break.

If not, I'm just going to tell people I sumo wrestled in Japan for a few years.

Though, I have to wonder if I can keep any of what they're going to lop off. Maybe I can make a leather wallet out of my own skin.

>Maybe I can make a leather wallet out of my own skin.

Saw you in a progress thread, again good job m8.

>this is your average 4shen/fit user

nice

husbando mode achieved

>6,500 USD
Sweet Jesus motherfucking Christ, why is that shit so fucking expensive?

Sup bro, didn't know you still lurked here. I remember your posts from ~2009/2010. You still Veeky Forums?

US medical system. Thanks to a bunch of structural issues pretty much everything has a hugely inflated price tag on it.

dude you're having surgery for that????? wtf

>Maybe I can make a leather wallet out of my own skin.
Do it and post pics

I'd rather have that little bit of loose skin and work on filling some in with muscle than the horrible scars you're gonna have after the surgery
