Slows down MPS. You know you can Google this and find it on NIH, you retard.

Your body wants to get rid of the alcohol first, then it starts to care about the protein.

This. Alcohol is poison to the body, so tour body tries to get rid off it first.

Also dehydrates you a bit

Alcohol can stall protein synthesis by as much as 30%. It's better to drink the day of training or two days after as opposed to the day right after. There are numerous studies on this, go read some.

eh, still not skipping training tho

You won't lose all your gains. You're just kind of working against yourself. It's not optimal but you can make progress.

>lately i've been drinking pretty often ( once a week )

HAHAHA WHAT

I like the feeling of being drunk, but it's literally toxic.

Now I just vape.

This desu. OP I drink 3 nights a week, not enough to get trashed but I do get tipsy. I've still put on about 10lbs with minimal fat gains and all my compounds have been steadily (but slowly) increasing. Once a week isn't anything to worry about.

i get trashed, so it kinda fucks me up the next day

Drink a lot of water before you sleep. I know it's hard to remember if you're fucked up but do it. Also, do you have a rest day? If you're drinking once a week why not just schedule your rest day for the day after drinking?

I always have drinks on my day off whether it falls on a training day or not.

Oh wow, it's the daily "will alcohol kill my gains" thread.

Gains are about the following things:
>training
>diet/protein synthesis/hydration
>sleep

When you drink, you are consuming excessive carbs. That may or may not fit into your daily macros.

When you drink, your body's ability to synthesize protein is slowed.

When you drink, you will likely be dehydrated.

When you drink, you will not get proper sleep.

When you drink, you will likely not be training the following day, which mqy disrupt/slow your lifting schedule.

Do you really need to be told any of this?

>When you drink, you will likely not be training the following day,

why wouldn't I? just lift/do cardio at night when the hangover has all but disappeared

I sleep better when drunk because I am not woken up by the constant fighting of the aborigines next door :)

You should really only get drunk on training days, tbhfam

I read this as
>if you properly supplement electrolytes, and stay hydrated, as well as making sure to get proper rest and stick to a consistent schedule of lifting, the most alcohol will do is negligibly affect protein synthesis

Coupled with
Which says getting a BAC of roughly .08 about an hour after doing heavy squats, will almost double test levels..

I am sensing moderation might be a strong factor.

...holy shit was kinobody right this whole time?

P.s. Would the gains inducing properties of test negate the gains reducing lack of protein synthesis?

What if you drink after you had already eaten your days worth of protein? Surely if you wait like 3 hours after eating before you drink, you will mostly be done synthesizing protein for the day anyway, right?

>no real reason to lift other than inspiration gained from dead aussie sandnigglet on chinese cartoon porn website
>perpetually concerned with "gains"

When does age start to kill gains?

I'm 29 now and wondering if I should even lift.

What a shitty mentality. Lifting will always make you look better than if you never lifted, at any age.

But is it true I won't make the gains I would when i was say 23?

It kills your beneficial gut bacteria, making it harder for you to break down and absorb nutrients.

IFFFF you drink, just have a beer or a glass of wine. Follow it up with lots of probiotics over the next few days. Don't drink more than once a week.

It won't be as easy, but you can still look damn good. And you'll feel better as you age than you will if you don't take care of yourself.

Lol. Once a week is basically not drinking at all for me.

>no real reason to lift.
Right. None of us lift for health right?
Ofc not.
That would be absurd.

>tfw fat from birth to age 23, when i was bmi of 35
>tfw fat dad had heart problems around this time, both of us at the fattest of our lives
>decide to get fit together, get mfp and start training bjj for cardio
>realize lifting is the answer to metabolic syndrome, fix weight loss plateaus with muh ss
>dad still doesnt lift, and is still fatter than he should be
>i am the skinniest, strongest, healthiest inhave ever been in my life.
It is a mixed feel.
I feel great that i have mastery over myself.
I feel horrible whenever a fatty (especially my father) tells me he doesnt want to lift to lose weight, and would rather jog instead.

I wish lifting was as prevalent in the fat loss marketplace as shitty fad diets and aerobics
I wish my father would take TRT, lift like crazy, and enter scooby-mode.

Not really.

Only if you are low test. If that is the case, get TRT. Shit makes you live longer. It is literally magic
