No, exercise won't really help you much with weight loss. It's overwhelmingly about diet. Cardio will be healthy for you for other reasons though.

Read the sticky until you understand it, get a kitchen scale, get MyFitnessPal app to easily log and calculate calories, weigh food BEFORE you eat it, stay under your daily limit. Be honest with how much you eat, cheating only hurts you.

Doing that daily and consistently will work 100% of the time. You will lose weight. I know it sucks, you can't eat as much as you'd like and be a fat glutton and hope to burn enough on a treadmill. But that's the harsh reality.
(If you are disciplined and don't lose motivation and keep this routine up for a long period of time, you also will get less hungry in time. You'll grow accustomed to not being a lardass.)
