I hate this quote, if you take all possibiliies you could've become anything, from hobo who raped his mother before killing her to conqueror of the galaxy, no matter what you do there will always be somethin that you could've done better, in the end you'll always be inferior to the you who made better life choices, and this cycle never ends.

The point of the quote isn't to say nag you about your failures, it's to nag you about not trying, user. Say you have an idea for the next social media app, you think it might do great and make you money but people like us tell you "Fuck you, social media is dumb, go fuck off", and then you take that feedback seriously and don't try to make it. Then, you'll always wonder "what if".

On the other hand, if you DO quit your job and commit a year to building your dumb fagbook clone, and it totally flops as expected, then when you meet what you could've become at the end of your life, he will ask you "how come you didn't make a fortune in social media" to which you could confidently and truthfully reply "I tried and it didn't work; it was 2016, no one gave a fuck about that dumb shit any more."
