from my knowledge, body burns first carbs, then fats, then proteins
if liver glycogen is low and you are not getting complex carbs, to support your daily moving around, you can burn muscle protein to balance blood sugar. so since its hard to balance blood sugar with vegies, upping protein is only option. and the insulin in it will keep healing your body along the day

if you workout, then that much protein is unnecessary, and that calorie is too low. up your carbs around workout to burn fat. or simply do keto , while u are at it
