Plyos are great for beginner lifters, and for lifters that lack general athleticism.

For competitive powerlifting, however, the added fatigue takes away from what drives your total: more lifting.

If you want to be an athlete, do some plyos. If you want to be a powerlifter, then probably don't (unless it's part of off-season GPP).

I think people train slow paced because they don't know how far they can push themselves and they would rather have consistent progression than hit a brick wall and get stuck.

Also a lot of people think short term and don't want to make month long risks

1. It saves your hands from being under heavy load for a prolonged period of time, preventing damage to your skin allowing you to train with higher frequency.
