Did a shitty brosplit for my first 6 months of lifting, then got on SL 5x5 for about a year and a half and swapped to PHUL everytime i got burnt out. Currently been running PPL 5 days a week. Started from a weird flubbery skinny fat 129lbs.

Been lifting for about 3 years, 2 years eating correctly and applying knowledge to what i'm doing. I know i'm not crazy huge for that time frame but my goal was always Brad Pitt in fight club mode. Now i just work on relative strength and getting more shr3dded while still fitting into my Veeky Forums wardrobe.

Yo man, any advice for a beginner? Been lifting for about a month and a half now here. We're same height and I'm a bit heavier at slightly higher bodyfat(160 lbs skinnyfat).

What were the biggest mistakes you think you've made? How did you simplify your diet?

I've already stalled on bench at 170x5, DL at 265 1x5(deloaded to 1x5 and my grip is failing on me now for some reason), OHP at 105 3x5 to go back to 85 3x5 to work on form, I feel like a fucking mess. I'm stalling on everything and I'm not sure if it's because of my diet or if this is the limit of my noob gains. I can still continue on squat, but I need to buy stuff for a makeshift squat rack so I don't die when squatting hard

If i could go back in time and give advice to my former self i'd tell him to start using Cronometer immediately, buy a food scale and a weight scale day 1, and don't be afraid to gain muscle. Those first couple of years are so elite for gaining muscle i really feel like i could've tracked my diet better and gained more noobmass.

Flash forward to today and i'm ridiculously on top of my diet. I don't miss a calorie. Some people might say it's unmanageable and unrealistic to count every calorie you ingest and always eat clean but that's a lie. If you come at it hard and crazy you'll build the mental fortitude to get shr3dd3d year round.
