I'm hoping to do an amateur fight at some point in the next 1-2 years

Boxing
2 months

In the morning run 2 miles(4 days a week).

Later in the day(4 days a week):
3 minute stretch
5 rounds of jump rope
125- squats, calf raises, pushups ,sit ups, bicycle crunches and leg lifts (soon going up to 150)
Either spar for 4 rounds or do punching and footwork drills for 8
1 round of jump rope.

I workout 6 days a week. I jump rope and do my cardio those 6 days.

My trainer and I are hoping in 6 months I can start in the amateurs.

I need to fox my diet though.

Fencing, 4 months,
Bodyweight and treadmill on off days.

Will start boxing soon.

Gonna complain to Hiro for killing it, what a dumb faggot

What the fuck is the point? Just make a /wwe/

How is classic Jiu Jitsu?

Nonsense. Look at websites like Boxing Science, bb.com, breakingmuscle, etc. they have plenty of routines and weightlifting for boxers

Knew this boxer at my old gym, he could squat 230 kg ass to grass and his punch power was phenomenal vs other guys at his weight

^ Duke Roufus Thai boxing classes, pretty great for watching if you're into kickbox

You'll lack stamina

why?
i run alot too if thats what you mean

>7 years of training for an amateur fight
man, you must suck

Do you skip rope?

Takes more oxygen for your body to perform when you have that muscle. It'll also make you move slower, which makes you punch slower, which is no good you want fast hands.

Don't get me wrong you'll use weights, and when going up weight classes you don't just eat your way up and do less water cutting, but like benching and deadlifts to hit maxes and get big? Naw senpai the best boxers have always been real real cut.

Not him but, the fuck are you babbling about?

The trainer obviously means don't lift because the amount of energy that building excess muscle takes and the extra muscle will cost him when it comes to endurance.

Extra muscle takes a lot of energy to build and it makes doing anything really really expensive in terms of energy.
Especially if you are constantly trying to build muscle and your body has to spend so much energy building muscle.

Classic Ju-Jitsu is a lot like the new stuff but with a bunch of etiquette. You also have to learn Japanese words and phrases as part of the grading or you won't be able to progress through the belts.

>beijing 2008

is this guy for real lmao

The

>Well I could KICK YOUR ASS

general

You are fucking retarded. Fuck off

I'm tempted to join a gym that does MMA, Kickboxing and Muai Thai.

I'm currently working on getting some stamina and strength first, so I don't look too bad even for a newcomer.
Truth be told I only got into Veeky Forums stuff recently after realizing I almost got too chubby and now that I shed the excess weight, I'm looking for something that keeps me from getting it back

>Is this a thing on Veeky Forums? It definetly needs to be.
>b-but it's physically tiring
>b-but it uses your body
Well in that case we should invite every faggot from /out/, /diy/, /cm/, /soc/, /cgl/, and /lgbt/ over.

>there are people so retarded they think going to the gym is the pinnacle of fitness
Go out and run you fucking fatty

I would say this is /asp/ but that's exclusively wrestling now.

In theme of the thread though I've been going through some mental gymnastics lately pertaining to boxing. For the past few months I got into boxing and got bretty gud and started sparring. Also doing fairly well got my share of as whoppings but stood my ground and held my own for most of the rounds. My dilemma is the ethical aspect of it lately I've been getting better than some of the other new fish and I just don't feel right about punching people in the face, possibly being responsible for permanent brain damage lately. I'm debating just going back to where I learned to fighting, CMA (Chinese Martial Arts) but don't want to pass up and the chance to possibly go amateur? Don't mean to sound like a blog, i am legitimately asking for opinions.

Tl;dr I'm a massive moral fag worried about causing and receiving long term damage from boxing. Stick with it and try go absurd y/n?

Boxing.
>every other day
>45 mins
>2 years

I use it as cardio training on days I dont lift. With my speed, strength and accuracy I can probably beat manlet fighters like Mayweather and that irish prick to a pulp. No problem.

then why not go pro?

sure you could bud

>starting a "general" on Veeky Forums when you need to ask if it's even a thing
There's no limit to the amount op needs to fuck off and khs

Of course you can buddy! Good Job!
Do you want your juice box now?

Can we talk about ufc here?
If so
whos gonna win?
connor or nate?
im hoping for nate desu

actually those are the only kinds of tats I can get behind

Maybe a tad more subtle, but y'know

You can join as a total newb and you'll still do fine, dw

As long as you don't act like hot shit and claim you can beat them all up or something, you'll be fine. Just go do it and remember to have fun, otherwise, what's the point?

It's almost impossible to recieve any kind of brain damage as as an amateur, let alone someone who doesn't even compete. You personally won't be responsible for any kind of permanent health issues; any such issues will only (possibly) appear in people who have been boxing at a pro level for around a decade plus, and those kind of people will get to that level with or without you sparring them in their formative years. So you might as well go spar, because at your level any damage you can cause is totally negligible.

I've been training for just under 2 years and I've had half a dozen am fights already - what the fuck are you waiting for?

This is bullshit, I guarantee you will receive brain damage both from sparring and amateur bouts, it's not even a question. You wont be walking around like holyfield but for sure you will receive it.

I think Nate will submit him again. Bad matchup for Conor.

Judo & Boxing
18 years of judo(2nd dan) and 6 years of boxing
Monday & Wednesday Boxing
Saturday Judo(only train once a week now because I don't compete anymore)
I do a hybrid of 5/3/1 BBB but alternate front squats and highbar squats 5x a week wit power cleans added into routine. I also do a bit of strongman conditioning because it helps with my job.
Lifts are DL 545x1
SQ 455x2
B 365x3
MP 225x5
PC 315x3
FSQ 405x2

Mostly boxing and BJJ with some judo mixed in.

Fuck if I know. A long time. Started when I was 17. I am early twenties.

I recently had a serious medical illness. So none for awhile. Before that had my ACL torn, then got surgery.

I do powerlifting with anti aging mobility lifts for the weakest areas of the body. Also Besides kata/ boxing cardio, I sometimes run.

>tfw old people on the radio are saying MMA isnt a sport and should be banned because a guy got killed
>boxing is fine though

That aside I did taekwondo for four years, kickboxing for four years after that and for the last four years I havent done shit and lost most of my gains.
Taekwondo was pretty shit and I wish I spent the time doing something else.

Gotta fight shit people so you can learn to pull your punches and not fuck them up. Its all part of the experience.

Damn son... What is your job?

Wrestling and BJJ

For 10 years 9 months of 5 days a week workouts and 3 months of light stuff. I won 2 State wrestling championships and I am ranked 43rd in the state for BJJ.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
>2 years
>Monday, Tuesday and Friday I run in the mornings, then roll with training partners and coach
>Lift on off-days
>Despite hard work and strength I competed a couple of weeks ago and got stuck in a rear naked choke the first match
Fuck me

it depends on so much... a lot of people also just generalize things and you have to kind of figure out the rest on your own. maybe he wants you to not focus on weights and focus on your technique and boxing game more than anything. this doesn't necessarily mean he wants you to exclude hitting weights in your future.

>once a week
do you train jj kata/drills on your own when not at the jj gym?

His vagina to dry up and a pair of testicle to fall into place.

The

>I'm tempted to join a gym that does MMA, Kickboxing and Muai Thai.
>I'm currently working on getting some stamina and strength first, so I don't look too bad even for a newcomer.
fool the longer you hold off on this the longer it takes you to start your TRAINING.
>Truth be told I only got into Veeky Forums stuff recently after realizing I almost got too chubby and now that I shed the excess weight, I'm looking for something that keeps me from getting it back
truth be told there is no such thing as too chubby. you are chubby. you are fat. realize you will look out of shape no matter how long you hold this off unless you do for a year. nobody will care about your level. it's about the potential and determination that they see in you more than anything. and your money. other than that, drop the ego because it's not gonna help you once you step inside.

It will be tiny and negligible, like I said

Maybe after getting knocked out in bout after bout you'll start showing some loss in cognitive ability but at that point you might as well quit boxing

Make sure you don't find a mcdojo

They literally stopped using headgear because it caused more concussions in men. That's why men's boxing in the Olympics is without headgear now.

>google it.

Medic on the fire dept.

>muay thai
>four months
>2-3 times a week
>compete in oly lifting, trying to go to nationals (77kg)

sparring wise i get winded so easy but all the oly lifting has made my hip power insane. i can really fucking hit when my form is on, but it usually isn't. honestly fighting is the hardest athletic activity i've ever done

Who the fuck do you manlets think you are? Do you think I train 3/4 times a week with pro boxers for you to antagonize me on a japanese anime forum? I am an adept boxing specialist and will beat you to within an inch of your puny little lives. Do you really think you could survive my marvelous left hook or withstand my outstanding uppercut to your solar plexus? If you think youre fucking tough enough give me your kik names and we will arrange a fight where I will show your spinal cord what two years of intense boxing training will do to mere mortals like yourselves. Reply if ur man enough.

Fighting is no joke. I sparred for 4 rounds the first time I ever did (12 minutes) and threw up right after. I never even thrw up in soccer when I was in high school

first off im barely 18 and 6'3
second off, i just wanted to know why you wont go pro?
Or.....are you charly zelenoff by any chance?

>Charlie Zelenoff

Kek

oh god i forgot about that guy

I agree on the cardio part, but the muscles aren't just dead weight if you know how to use them. Guys who do solely weight training for years are slow punchers because they are used to this movement pattern where the muscles are under constant tension, whereas punching is something different. Also because they lose flexibility but you can easily work on that.

agreed about the tension part

Do you ever see a body builder type boxing? Yes. And when you do its guys ehonlose stamina quick like Tyson, Frank Bruno and Anthony Joshua. If you bulk up you will get KOd by someone quicker than you.

Adrenalin and focus are through the roof, 3 minutes feel like an eternity. I love this feeling. You feel so alive.

No.

If you're in combat sports, out never hop on a treadmill. Its called roadwork pussy.

Yes, I know

But then you have giant men like Valasquez and Werdum who can last all the way into the 5th round, and maintain a reasonable amount of speed.

How old are you?

Boxing
2 weeks
5/7 but I went just 2-3 days per week
I thought the routine was going to be kinda easy
mfw I can't even stand up the next day of boxing

Anyone give me an advice pls, I really want to go everyday

You don't become a bodybuilder by weightlifting and you know that. You won't just balloon up, won't just put on 10kg of muscle.
Stamina is crucial for fighting, especially in the ring. But you know how your body produces explosive movements? Fast twitch muscle fibers. And weightlifting is a good way to train those. Do your cardio, do your calisthenics, but don't just write off lifting as useless, because it isn't

Damn, man. You're one hell of a combat medifag, I fucking swear it.

Taekwondo
8 years
4x a week during school year
3 mile run
Legwork exercises on ladder ~15 minutes
Standard stretching
Finesse stuff (wall kicks, drills, etc depends on coach) ~30-45 mins
Light sparring ~30 mins

22, started 8 weeks ago.

I dunno senpai
I do it every other day
i work out 5 days a week
I guess make a friend or get a friend to join you.

Keep going senpai that's all you can do

Muay Thai
3 years
5 days week
3-0 amateur record in Thailand

Work permitting my routine daily-
15 minute stretch
5 mile run
15 minutes skipping rope
40 minutes on the training bag
20 minutes on the heavy bag
15 minutes body weight exercises
15 minute stretch

2-3 days a week with my coach hitting pads and focusing on clinch work

It doesn't work out perfectly like that every week but I'm pretty close. About time we had a martial arts general thread.

Any other tkd brehs around?

Any reason you wouldn't take a fight sooner OP? Kickboxing or Thai boxing?

Which would be a good martial art to get into for flexibility / mobility increase? I do not intend to compete as the risk of injury is not worth it too me but it would be fantastic to learn a new skill/become alot more flexible/healthier rather then only be lifting weights

Or should i just do yoga?

I had a black belt when I was 13. Does that count?

Lots of traditional arts train you on felxibility. I'd say TKD would have you throwing kicks at head level in a few months

Right here breh. Just a 1st dan but i'm getting ready to leave for Navy bootcamp in November. I'll continue training wherever I end up

To append to this if you don't want to get injured you can do forms instead of sparring, since flexibility is huge for thag

What do you mean by forms?

taekwondoanimals.com/taekwondo-forms

>what martial art you do
BJJ and boxing
>how long you've done it
8 years BJJ, boxing less than a year
>how often you train every week
used to train bjj 2 or 3x a week, now I just do it once and box twice
>your workout regime
Doing a 3 day split, one of them I do it on the same day as boxing after training. It sucks but it allows me to have rest days
>other???
My intention was to stick to an MMA gym because I want to compete at some point next year. Only problem is gyms in my area are expensive and the one that seemed to be the best around focused too much on grappling, something I already have good practice in, so I ditched that and went to a boxing gym instead.

>Jiu Jitsu
Brazil (and now America) has added a lot of innovation to submission grappling.

The state of the art can be found in elite no-gi submission wrestling academies.

Even the best get choked out from time to time. Just keep learning and keep improving that technique.

This. Just stick with it.

I cant imagine any of them wouldnt be good for flexibility and mobility.

I wrestled for two years in HS, regret not starting earlier. Now I am planning on learning how to box.
I haven't been working out, I work in a factory. Once college starts I plan on doing starting strength with accessories, and learning how to do front/back levers.

I just want to say your my new goal man. Thanks for the inspiration?

I'm totally un expirienced, but have a little background wrestling with friends in highschool after school(which probs doesn't help much)

Im 19. Is it too late to become a badass bloodsport motherfucker?

Almost.
As long as you're still a teenager, it's somewhat acceptable to think MMA and martial arts are cool.

There are boxers who didn't go pro untill their 30s, mma fighters that didn't go competition till their 30's you'll be fine but you won't sell out any arenas

Box
2 months before I almost killed myself in an accident and then 1 month and a half, master is a fucking beast physique and boxing wise, has knowledge on a lot of martial arts(practiced/practices other stuff too), was champion as a king and was vice-champion of my country

I train 3x week box and 3x week powerlifting
Apparently I have insane power thanks to heavy compounds but I'm not that quick, I've been practicing and sparring with a guy that had muay thai for 2 years and already has 2 matches on his belt has been getting better

also for some reason I can throw some mean left hook and liver shots but in my jab I can't somehow throw all of my force

You don't wanna jab wit full force senpai save full force for your power shots.

I just use to poke mostly and score points anyways

I really like box but have no idea if I should try and go for amateur fights, I mean I still try my best but eh, my main goal was to learn how to defend myself

Do it bro for all you know you're really good. I'm hoping by April 2017 I'm in some tourneys and by 2019 I want to get my license to try to box professionally. I met some really good trainers who saw something in me and are pushing me to compete so I'm dedicating my life to it at this point. I live in an area of the country where there are decent amount of boxers, trainers, promoters etc. Etc.

Sergio Martinez comes to mind didn't even start trying to box till like 22 or some shit. Jason Sosa as well.
