anyone here have narcolepsy? all my life i've had problems with sleep and always got memed on by my friends for sleeping too much but lately this shit has kicked into overdrive

i tried scheduling an appointment with my doctor but I fucking slept through the appointment. even when I try to have a good sleep schedule like going to bed at 10 and waking up at 7 I STILL cannot stay asleep past noon. no matter how much sleep I get I'm fucking peacing out at noon or 1pm.

i want to kms. does this sound like narcolepsy to you?

I don't know if it's specifically narcolepsy, but its definitely something wrong, you should make another appointment, try to explain your case a little beforehand. Try to schedule for a time you are likely to be up if you can.

Unless you luck out with another user here who's had similar, I don't know how much help anyone else here can be.

I was on sleeping meds for a while since I had trouble falling asleep, then would sleep in and still be tired all day, but the pills fucked my sleep up and made me almost unable to eat food. In my case working on my underlying depression is whay helps my sleep issues, which aren't as bad as yours by any means.

Get your brother to do that would be a good idea. You a student? Get a friend to wake you by phone, get s flatmate or friend to knock your door hard or shake you awake.

I'd also see if you can put in for medical or special circumstances on your course, though this is easier wirh a doctor's note.

I got such a letter for having a breakdown and depression during my finals that messed my grades up, and came out ok with it.

You may have an underactive thyroid. Go see a doctor (endocrinologist)

I had to schedule my classes all before noon because once noon hits I get so tired I practically start daydreaming while awake and pass out

you dont have narcolepsy you probably have some kind of sleep apnea or possibly just really bad sleep hygiene. it will fuck your life up in a huge way, so go to a doctor, srs

I'm the same way. I drink about 6 cups of coffee per day after getting 8 hours of sleep and still start falling asleep at my desk. I had a sleep study done and now I'm waiting for the results. You should do the same.

nicotine is great if smoking didn't give me cancer I would be all over it. i tried vapes in the past but those don't really do anything, nicotine is only nice when it comes in cancer stick form

Yes but apart from making you a jittery mess, does it keep you awake? You need something which will help you stay awake user, even if temporarily until you can get something decent from the doctor.

Depression is a kike invented illness and all that diagnoses does is delay treatment for the real underlying condition

why is it that when I sleep 5 hours I'm way less tired than when I sleep 8? I normally sleep 8 but whenever I have to sleep 5 or less I'm allways wide awake the next day

Don't forget testosterone levels. Low test can cause depression sometimes

Take caffeine in whatever form you choose with L-Theanine. NOS comes out of the can with it, though not in enough of an amount. Supplement it. Or just, y'know, take str8 amphetamines. I mean, it's not the worst thing you could ingest. Or smoke, however you prefer.
sleeping pills are stupidly easy to get. Something as simple as jet lag will get a doc to write you up for enough to kill ya in one go. The sleep sux, like you'll wake up hating sleep, but you'll sleep.

I have hypersomnia as well but not as bad as you. Get Modalert from modafinil cat and see if that helps. It's meant to treat narcolepsy and hypersomnia, but it can be hard to get a script for it because doctors are a bunch of fucking morons.

I had the same problem OP.
A lot of stuff changed in my life around the same time but I managed to shake it so here goes:
Had an appointment/booking/work/something to get up for early like 7am
Began doing serious cardio
and getting significantly more vitamin D
Began eating very clean and cutting
Began drinking a shitload of water
started taking new asthma medication with a stronger dose of corticosteroid (flutiscasone propionate 250ug if you're interested) which has stimulant side effects, reducing my coffee intake to 0

Basically you're depressed, find a reason to get out of bed and force yourself to get more fit and you should be on the right track

I've been struggling with the same thing for years now. Diagnosed at a young age with ADD and have been on meds for it since I was 15 (now 22) Well I started having sleep issues when I was about 18-19 which included sleep paralysis, insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, etc. This made me pretty damn depressed as I thought I was going crazy so they put me on an anti-depressant.


It helped a lot with the dreams and my ADD medicine was doing an okay job at keeping me awake but I could still feel the sleepiness. After getting in trouble for sleeping in late all the time, always being tired, and not being able to sleep at night, I went and got testing done.

They said I have narcolepsy and mild OSA. Well I've been on my ADD med's, anti-depressants, and Nuvigil for a while now and it does help. However, I'm still confused on whether I'm depressed or just plain fucking tired and it's a misdiagnosis. Either way, I keep skimping on my sleep doctor appointments because I usually sleep right through them (Shocker). I'm still working on figuring out the right treatment for me because the one thing in life I wish I had was a normal sleep schedule, in which I could feel awakened and energized during the day.

Maybe I will dump the stimulants, the SSRIs, and just go on modafinil.

I wish I could fucking sleep. It's been the same for the last four or so months. Ill pass out every once in a while in the middle of the night, but wake up about 45 minutes later.

It's 1AM and I'm going on 30 hours awake right now. Got a dentist appointment at 9:30, hopefully I'll crash once it starts.

You have bad sleep hygene. Aim for 8 hours. Go to bed at the same time. 10-11ish and rise at the same time 6-7ish EVERY DAY. After a week or so it should get better.
