The thing I really don't like about chess is that so much depends on the opening and to be somewhat competitive you have to really study opening theory and learn what to play against what openings since it's usually too complicated to figure out on the fly.

I use a caliper. It's inaccurate as hell in terms of absolute %, like I'm pretty sure I'm not 8%, but relative to itself it's good for tracking progress.

Unless you change the leverage of your body in relation to the bar then whether you have 100kg on your traps or 90kgs on your traps and 10kg on your hands then you are still squatting 100kgs and it'll feel just as hard.

Well, according to physics yes.

By pressing the bar during squats as if you were OHP'ing you will add the weight you can OHP to your squat.

Not many people know about this trick. The guys who compete at nationals and world meets do, but they don't use it because OHP'ing during your squats would tire out your triceps before bench.

If powerlifting meets didn't have squats before bench then everybody's maxes would be approximately 150kg more. (because that's what the average man can overhead press)

Ass you can see from this diagram, the force you add is not quite as much as that as your calves produce - but it is significant all the same.

I thought stretching is unnecessary and it only became important because of squats, I guess.

But now I am all kinds of fucked. I don't even know why, but my right quad and hip flexor is a lot tighter than the left ones. I don't even know how that is possible - it's not like I squat with one leg.
