(Going to the gym a few times for a couple months in the year and then stop completely because of work, or because it's raining or too hot, doesn't mean you lift)

Not that user, but it's a branch of mathematics focused on computation. Computability, programming languages, design and analysis of algorithms, etc.

However, most schools completely bastardize it and instead just teach you how to make silly little programs in a mediocre language like Java, since it's used more in industry.

I really wouldn't consider CS to be a branch of mathematics. The mathematical rigor is extremely lacking in most places, and while it does focus on logic and functional theory, I'd say that the branches of math that focus on computation would be things involving deep neural nets and statistical theory.

I think the point is that I graduated, people going for another degree often don't make much money because they're studying and putting money into college.

I didn't mean computation in the "number crunching" sense. I meant modelling computation, and thinking about what it means to compute. Turing machines, the lambda calculus, and things like that.

Icelandic user here, first three semesters are it, databases(sql) , Web design (html, css, javascript(programmong lang,) also php(back end lang), and programming in c#. Then after that you choose what you want, game Dev, algorithm, Linux et.c.

Also need to take a shitton of academic Courses to get a college degree.
