How would you train if you had only one arm?

>tfw got arm amputated because of cancer
>similar to pic related except i still have shoulder
>can't do deadlifts
>not really sure if i can balance the bar on my traps, but probably yes with some practice
>no way to train left side of chest / back

Is there any hope for me? Thanks for any insights

can you hold a plank?

>still have shoulder
Make a hook

Don't train, retard

Yeah, but it's pretty hard

You absolutely can my dude, take a look at adaptive cross fit, crossfit is a bit of a meme around here and understandably, but you will struggle to do conventional exercises with only one arm, adaptive crossfit is for people with missing limbs, and you may find it more helpful.

Honestly good for you though OP, don't let anything hold you back.

What's the point of you training?

How did he develop his left pec? Looks like somebody shopped a normal buff guy's left arm off in that pic.

I train because i don't really like other sports, would like to look "fit" and i'm quite prone to store fat (yeah, i could eat less, but training seems better to me)

>discouraging someone from training and getting Veeky Forums because they have a legit disability.

Stay 12 boyos.

Get a nice spotter
Or consider a prosthetic arm, google "open source prosthetic arm" it should be relatively cheap
You need to.study a bit though

post pics of your stump

fap to something else

Honestly I'd probably kill myself if I were in your condition. Not trying to make you feel like shit or anything but I don't know how people do it.

Why train at all?

>Anyone who disagrees with me is 12, I'm always right
Ok boy

I was thinking the same way you do but at that time i was 11.
Why would i kill myself ffs? It's not that big of a deal if you learn how to do things, there are just few things i can't do in normal day to day life.
Honestly training just for the end result is pretty stupid, the end result will satisfy you just for a little while, as i already said, i train because i enjoy it more than other sports

don't listen to these pathetic weaklings and sad excuses of men, train if you want to train, and be proud you never gave up

You can do squats with a safety bar. For back work, have you tried some kind of harness attached to your shoulder? Like video related except longer. As for chest, I'm not sure. You could maybe hit it through some kind of pullover or fly. Is getting a prosthetic a viable option for you?

Yeah man never giev up, all your dreams will come true !! lmao

Well, the problem is that doctors said i would need something that would 'tape' the prosthetic arm to my second shoulder, there is almost nothing to attach it to without that

1 handed deadlifts are a thing

You should probably find a therapist or physical trainer that specialises in disabled fitness

>le edgy hyprocritical cynic who confuses weak fatalism with wisdom

lmao, just roll over and die then

>can't do deadlifts
the fuck you cant.start at lower weight and hold in the center of barbell.you can make it man.also just imagine how much puss you can get from the one armed pull ups

underage idiot

Not op, but have you no empathy at all? Can you rsally not see how it would make him feel better?

thanks for the concern, but there is no need to bother, i'm kinda callous

I'd have to train twice as hard because I'd only have one arm, I guess.
Squats are still possible with specialty bars (think it's called a SSB bar?), and most everything else can be done one-armed. Deadlifts, you can either do one handed or get a leather strap to put around your stump and hang a hook from that.

>yeah, Im a self-diagnosed psychopath with like no feelings at all, really badass

nigga u soon will go cyberpank af, 10 years max and u got motherfucking robot arm with guns and shit.

taking the bait but anyway, i meant it in a way that simple discouraging message on south african vuvuzela making forum won't throw me off

pimp as fuck m8

try out some bodyweight stuff because it will be better get used to balancing your own weight instead of an external barbell or some shit that was intended to be held with two hands. stuff like one arm rows and pushups but adjusting the angle. improvise your use of weights but i wouldn't rely on them too much.

A one armed dude at my gym does dumbell presses one in his hand, one in his elbow

they have deadlift slings

>calling someone boy on Veeky Forums

I think my impression of you as a fucktard is accurate.

Post pic of arm OP

There is literally no point in working out if you have the option to replace a missing arm with a chainsaw one.

(OP)
If I had only one arm, I'd press my luck as much as possible trying to get an artificial arm. Anyways, I suppose you'll have to use more isolated exercises based routines (including machines) to target the same amount of muscles the big compound exercises do. Try doing what Randy does, I guess.

The question is, how will OP develop a symmetric torso while only using one arm? Eventually he may have 15 pounds more muscle on one side than the other, leading to balance issues.

Above-Knee Amputee here

No bullshit truth...Training will suck a little more for you, but theres still plenty of shit you can do OP.

Get a trainer to spot you and work you through exercises to figure out how to get over only having one arm.

do your barbell work in a smith machine or something where the bar can drop without hurting you.

Its really not as big of a deal in terms of your gym experience. For me the only difference are that I squat on 1 foot so I dont go very heavy on the weight.

My "leg day" is not much...I usually split that day with a few sets of Pullups. Everyday is fucking Leg day for me so I dont have to do much for my leg in the gym.

Chest flies with resistance band?

Interessting thread.
Kinda hijacking it for myself (heavy arthrosis in left elbow due to a bad healed broken bone), but might also be interessting for OP:

I can do quite a few lifts, especially machine movements, with having a somewhat working arm/shoulder. But what I for fucks sack can't do is anthing for the upper part of the damaged arm. Since I don't want to look asymmetric I really want to do something for that body part.
I read that pic related (electronic muscle stimulation) can actually build/keep muscle mass.
Anyone has tried that out?

...

Bump

I've got poland syndrome, currently bench 2pl8 3x5
Sometimes I get very sad when I realise I will never be normal, unless augmentations

Don't listen to any of these naysayers phaggots OP. You can do whatever tha fuck you wanna do, don't let your arm hold you back. Is there any way to make a hook or something, I really have no idea how you would do it but keep your head up and do what you wanna do brah.

what I'd tell you OP is becoming a fucking one arm mountain, remember you're fucking tougher than almost all of these fags because in your situation they would've already killed themselves
I'm disabled aswell, I know that, but when I'm stronger than a fucking normie, it makes me feel good because, me someone who's supposed to be inferior is actually superior

Props bro

a sillicone surgery costs 10k dollars
I am from a third world country, I will probably never have that amount of money

>>no way to train left side of back

pull ups
start with negatives

those machines that are mainly used by middle aged people and idiots who don't know how to train are actually designed for people with disabilities. go to a well equipped gym and try some of them out to see which ones you can and can't use and make a routine out of it. either a split og push/pull.

you're gonna make it breh

if you're one limb from killing yourself, I think you should just kill yourself right now

for arms you can still do the dumbbell stuff
for legs use machines
for chest use a chest press machine
you can still do situps
for back use machines

user, go to an actual physical therapist for this.
You're not the first person missing an arm or leg to say they still want to train.
Do not listen to anyone on Veeky Forums when it comes to this. You're going to fuck yourself up beyond belief.
A physical therapist who specializes in amputee training will give you all the information you need or direct you to Anons who have created workout routines due to disability.

which machines? or are you saying anything that's not free weights, benches and bars are for idiots and middle aged people??

Rotationplastyfag here, right leg. Also cancer (osteosarcoma). You'd be amazed how much work you can get done in the gym, you just have to adjust your exercises. Keep at it bro.

>not really sure if I can balance the bar on my traps
>2016
>not having traps so large you don't need balance
