I wouldn't say it's insecurity but rather that they need to do things that help draw attention to themselves because otherwise people physically would not notice them for being so close to the ground.

I wouldn't say I'm insecure. I have a good face and very wide shoulders at 5'7.5" barefoot. However, I hate the proportions I have. I'd rather be 5'9" or so.
