>tfw can't even manage contact lenses

Eyes are a big psychological weak spot for me, I can handle any spooky stuff in film until they start messing with eyes. Touching things to my eyeball was way too much for me.

>tfw all glasses today just make you look like a nu-male

Had PRK surgery. 20/13 vision now. Very recommended.

I have OP.

Came from my second tour of Stan, had the money and went for it. My left eye was weak and blurry and my right eye was doing all the work to correct my vision.

Went for the LASIK treatment which takes about an hour or so, using lasers rather than micro scapels.

No pain, just a bit of fuzzy vision and occasionally waking up and my vision being like id been underwater with my opens for too long for about half hour after waking, but that passed after a couple of weeks.

Results were instantly noticeable, sharper vision all round in both eyes and its been the best thing ive ever done.

I very nearly got it after accumulating some funds, walking into an Optical Express and getting the full set tests. OE advertises "from £595 per eye!" in all their campaigns, but in the end they quoted me £3200 per eye, £6400 in total so I effectively told them to fuck off.

It was only after this this that it struck me, virtually every employee at, OE from the receptionists to the specialists, they all wore glasses. The fact that these trained specialists clearly had sight problems but had chosen not to have it speaks volumes to me.

Everybody I know that has had it done though, they all have problems with nighty vision and one is straight up banned from driving at not because of it, another has permanent halos around lights, even in daylight.

this

they were teaching me to press my finger to my eye to get comfortable with it

wtf how do ppl do that. i cant control my bodys reaction to get tf away from shit near my eyes

oh boy, old LASIK would've made you shit a brick - they just had you hold still while they used a tiny sawblade to slash your cornea open...

Thankfully they don't have to do that nowadays, and of course they numbed your eye, but, fuck.

Worn contacts for years. Vision is bad at -4.5. I was keen until I saw the price. I really would like to get it done someday. It scares me to think if somehow my contacts cane out and there was an earthquake I'd just die

Branch? And its not covered via tricare?

i'm definitely doing it when my eyes stop deteriorating. Based Europoor social security pays back most of it in my country.

Yeah I got LASEK, through Optical express, fucking amazing.

>they all have problems with nighty vision and one is straight up banned from driving at not because of it, another has permanent halos around lights, even in daylight
The reason I haven't jumped in are these stories of side effects. Scares me desu.

>have shit vision
>get glasses
>get contacts
>go back to the 'about the same?' Doctor
>says my vision isn't that bad anymore
So did
>my vision get better
>my ability to see with shite vision get better
>(((eyedoctor))) fleece me

I've had LASIK, the whole procedure takes like 10 minutes and you literally just lie down, look into the light, when when you get back up you can read the clock on the far wall in the room that you couldn't when you walked in. There's some slight pressure but nothing bad at all, they had me wear some goggles for a couple of days to stop me from messing with my eyes in my sleep, gave me some drops and that was it. I felt like a dipshit for waiting until I was 25 to do it honestly.

The only things that touched my eyes when I had it done were drops and the things they put on them to hold them in place. Not scary/10

Yeah, I got it a few years ago. Still feel thankful I did it every time I wake up and can just glance at my alarm clock across the room and read the time. It is the best money I have ever spent. And made physical labor in the summer so much easier. I very strongly recommend it. I couldn't even touch my eye to put in contacts because of overly sensitive blink reflexes.

I'm saving up for it, I've been wearing contacts when outdoors since I was 17 and it's been 10 years.
I think I've already spent more than what laser costs.

But I think I'll spend some of the money I've saved up to get a mole removed first. It can't be done during the summer though so I'll do it in October. It's a bigger priority than LASIK.

Also in September I have to repeat my annual blood & urine tests for my nephritis. That costs a bit usually, but I've saved up.

Funny you should mention it. I'm having Lasik done next month.

I haven't, and probably won't because I'm sensitive to eye horror. My roommate who got it is delighted with it. It's been a few months and he still gets dry eyes, but it fixed his vision and gave him the freedom to wear non-prescription sunglasses.

>OE advertises "from £595 per eye!" in all their campaigns, but in the end they quoted me £3200 per eye, £6400 in total so I effectively told them to fuck off
>The fact that these trained specialists clearly had sight problems but had chosen not to have it speaks volumes to me

There are variables here that do not involve the technicians not standing behind their work.

There is a range of problems that can be treated with LASIK. At the minor end, they're cheap to fix. At the severe end, they're expensive. This is why the word 'from' exists. It is a notice to the customer that, while a cozy little minimum exists, they should expect higher rates.

Additionally, some kinds of degeneration will carry on even with LASIK. The best outcome for some people is a glasses prescription reduction. Some people get LASIK knowing they'll still need glasses, because the glasses they'll need afterward are much lighter, more comfortable, better looking and cheaper to replace.

Another possibility is that the technicians just don't care enough. If I could afford to fix my eyes, I'd travel instead. And the receptionists, they can't fucking afford it!

best fucking 3g's i ever spent. Apparently you can get it done for a lot cheaper now.

I have contacts implanted in my eyes. 20/15 in my right and 20/13 in my left. Was too blind to get Lasik. ICLs cost me $12k total about.

Hello Maxx

Tell us about your experience with contact implants.

Funny you should talk about this. I got mine two weeks ago. I had SMILE surgery done at Herzig Eye Institute in Canada. Overall, would recommend. No side effects people talk about LASIK.

Fantastic. Recovery in less than a day. They just make a little slit in your eye and slide in a folded square lenses behind your iris that unfolds into place in front of your normal lens. Hardly any dry eye. Slight halo in right eye at night, typically normal with eye surgery though. Stays in for life. If I ever need to again I can wear contacts or get Lasik since nothing was actually removed from my eye.

That sounds awesome. What about the surgery? Is it scary? Does it hurt?

Lasik terminates you from becoming a military helicopter pilot here, i couldve gotten a good job and be set for life....

Can you tell me a little bit about mole removal? I heard all they can do is dig it out, which sounds kind of sketchy. I have like literally 30 small moles on my face

If it's your face don't let anyone dig it out, it's either laser or bust otherwise it's gonna leave a scar.
Laser can still sometimes leave a small mark, like a slightly darker color patch of skin but it's very minor.

Doctors will tell you if they can laser it off or if they need to dig it out. Usually I think they want to dig it out to have a biopsy if they fear it's cancerous.

Mine is on my abdomen so if my doctor says I should dig it out I'll let him, a small scar isn't that big of a deal down there, it's gonna be like 0.5cm wide. But I'd never let anyone scar my face. Moles > surgical scars.

Are we not going to talk about those nice feet?

Two of my best friends had it. One is wearing glasses again, and the other one developed a case of "night glare" so severe that he stopped going out clubbing with us.

I would really really recommend reading this site that one of my friends did find:

lasikcomplications.com/

There is a lot of biased BS, but some of those studies and testimonies are very informative.

Think it through and search your own information. Don't trust the doctors, they wan't your shekels.

Such qt feet on a qtpie

Did they both go to the same doctor?

Weird, i'm a medicine student and the professors at optometry told us that eye surgery had a very low rate of complications, or that they could be easily fixed in a later procedure if any appeared..
just mentioning.

Scary a bit. They stick a blade in your eye while you are awake and can see. Just look up Visian ICL surgery on YouTube. Cringe.

I work for a Lasik company and even I won't take the free offer they give employees. I sadly can't answer questions though cause I'm just billing and data entry but yeah. Old lasik was spooky

PRK > LASIK if active. LASIK leaves a flap in the cornea that can be knocked loose.

This really seems like the best way to do it but GODDAMN that's expensive.

Had a lil BBQ a few weeks back and one of our guests was a guy who did eye surgery with precision knives and shit. If you wear contacts for too many years, your eyes will be too deformed to operate on, same for glasses (I believe, but for different reasons). The procedure takes about a minute total, and you'll be back to working condition within 6 hours.

Just got it done, still healing from it. Quick procedure, haven't experienced any side affects, and my vision is 20/15 now. Only annoying thing is the wearing the damn goggles when sleeping, other than that would recommend.

Currently wearing glasses but was at the optician today to get contact lenses. Should arrive next week.

why not just wear glasses

Welcome to the 20/15 master race friend.

Definitely is the best way. The lens can be removed if something goes wrong. With prk and Lasik you are removing a large portion of your cornea you can never get back. With prk you can never wear contacts again. And with both there is a limit to how much you can fix. I rather pay the money for a lifetime investment. It is your eyes after all. You should avoid trying to go cheap on them.

Where did you get it?
How old are you?
Cost?

In the military it's free, got it done last month.

I've been thinking about laser eye surgery for a while now.

But what if your eyesight starts degrading over time again? Would it be best to wait until 30+?

I don't remember the name of the place but
24
5.2k
200$ for the drops but insurance covered that.
I would have gotten it earlier but was told males corneas usually stop changing around 24 so it's best to wait and not waste the money. Best decision I've ever made.

Great
Maybe I'll get mine done next year then.

I watched the operation once and i don't know if i'd be able to get it done. pretty spooky

Its not painful at all, you'll feel a lot of pressure on your eyes but it's quick.

what's your honest opinion about Lasik? shilling aside since you're an employee, safety wise atleast?
i don't want no small blade going near my eye, any way to do it without?

holy shit that looks painful af

5.75 here. Life is suffering.

>have bad vision
>only wear glasses at home
>no one knows that I'm a four eyed freak
you got to keep it a secret mang

That's how both my eyes look atm.
It's not really painful, just a little soreness here and there.
When making the flap they have to auction into your eye, and it may break some blood vessels. That's when you feel all the pressure, and lose your eyesight for a bit. It's a trip, but not painful.

Suction*
Autocorrect..

you got the lasik with blade or without? i imagine if i ever do it, it's going to be without blade. Also seen some 'eye specialists/doctors' quote that most complications that arise after the procedure are from patients who did lasik with blade.

Hey
I'm somewhat wealthy

Is this100% the best option?

Not the guy you're replying to, lasik patient, I had really bad night halos/glare for years.

Gone now though, and still have good vision, no other complications. However, they openly warned me my night vision was gonna be fucky for a while.

>for years
that's a pretty long time to have fucked up night vision

I did it about 10 years ago or so. Best money I ever spent.

It wasn't insanely bad, but halos around light at night is disturbing to say the least

That's odd... I had it done, then joined the military, they almost wouldn't LET me join because of it.

A friend of mine also had eye surgery done and said the same thing about his night vision.

Without the blade.
The guys who did it preferred laser so much he doesn't even offer the blade option anymore. It's just a lot safer and faster with the laser.

4.5 is bad? I'm 5 in left and 6 in right and I feel like I could probably survive if I didn't have to read anything or drive.

At first it was difficult for me to touch my eye, but after 2 weeks it became routine

My aunt got it, she likes it but she doesn't like having to wear reading glasses.

I'm nearsighted and they told me I'd be a good candidate for lasik but I'm just pushing it off for now

Mine are -3.25 and -3.75, I can see perfectly using -3.00 contacts.

Yes. Most rich people do this over Lasik. It's less damaging, quicker recovery. But way more expensive. That's why most places don't do this. It requires the surgeon doing all of the work by hand. Lasik is mostly machine assisted. The cost of the lenses are about $2000 each. The other 10 grand is for the surgeon and the surgery itself.

why? if you have perfect vision... what's the problem?

>nearsighted
you mean shortsighted? i am too, and planning on delaying lasik until 25 in case something goes wrong but maybe there's no point in waiting.

...

Something about not enough time had passed since I did it, they were worried there could still be complications. I had to get a waiver.

This was like 10 years ago. The rules may be different now.

They're still cautious - some complications can arise fairly long after the procedure, and these are not conducive to combat operations.

However, the fear is wildly overblown and it shouldn't be a thing to keep them barred.

So does having a lot of floater in your eyes affect you from having LASIK?

Its called nearsighted tard

Are ReLax SMILE (LASIK without the flap cutting) or PIOLs basically the way to go when it comes to refractive surgery?

Lasik always will have flaps. Smile just minimizes this. Prk doesn't have flaps as it takes from the outer cornea. IOLs is what I have, mine is called Visian ICLs. I spoke of it earlier in this thread a few times. 6-8k per eye though and can correct up to -20.

Are there any drawbacks if you work in a very aquatic field? Problems with the flap and such?

Is this the same girl??

PRK. Hurts like a dildo the next morning when you first open your eyes and your dry eyelids scrape your scratched-up lens but it's better in the long run. Only issues I have are starburst at night.

That site is so full of shit.

Had lasik. I'm active. No complications. I have thick corneas so I'm in best candidate pool. Recovery time was about two weeks for inflammation to dispose and light appear normal again. Surgeons with modern equipment will have adjusted for your pupils so that you don't get a halo effect. Get prk if you have thin corneas. Talk to the damn surgeons if you don't believe them

>talk to the people who have a vested interest in you paying them
>it didn't happen to me so it won't happen

That site is a bit alarmist, but complications can and do happen. Not to everyone, obviously, but calm the fuck down.

Wna bury my nose and tongue in her feet desu.

>-7 and -7.25
>Had LASIK back in May
>$3900
>20/20 vision during daylight
>20/30 inside a dim room
>Feels like 20/40 at night
>Probably left over aberrations from my horrendous prescription
>Halos almost gone at night, hardly noticeable
I am going to give a few more months before I go back for adjustment surgery.
Overall experience 7/10.

Thanks

I thought about getting it but I've never had problems with contacts (even sleeping in them multiple nights), plus I like to wear glasses sometimes.

I was gonna say senpai, those feet look super soft and pampered. I wonder what the nails look like :3

I've done it in april 2015, did ultra lasik which is basicly all laser.
Only advice for you: choose wisely the surgeon.

My surgeon wasn't very skilled and I had red fucking eyes for at least 6 weeks.
I have 12/10 on left and 10/10 on right.

How's your night vision?

it's okay I guess, I supplemented vit A during the recovery

is it still blurry at night, like you still need glasses? Or are you getting halos and starbursts?

No halos anymore, it took months to disapear tho.
No glasses needed at all.
I still have to wear sunglasses more often because my vision is more sensitive to bright light

I did LASIK about 8 years ago for about $5k. Best thing I ever paid for. Walked into surgery with -6.5 and -7, clinic put me in a hotel overnight, could clearly see my balls and feet in the shower, woke up immediately knowing what time the clock was showing, and clinic picked me up for day-after exam.

If you do this, do not get lazy with the care guidelines. Had to wear goggles to bed for a few months and put in eyedrops for a year. I still have better than 20/20 and zero night vision issues.
