Capitalism

communism

yes

no

no

It is?

Because it's easier to complain on social media until people accept fatness than it is to not be a lazy useless sack of shit.

America as a nation is lost. Unfortunately their influence means it has intense ramifications for the rest of the world.

For a while now, the United States has gotten away with countless crimes against humanity. Their propaganda machine has been unchallenged by the world due to their military superiority.

Just look at Latin America. I recently visited Chile, which I recommend to anyone interested in nature to do. Chile has been the victim of a CIA-backed coup which overthrew the elected socialist government and installed a military dictatorship under which dozens of thousands of people were tortured, and thousands were murdered. 16 years later, the Chilean people finally voted to reinstate democracy, but by then the damage had been done. American capitalism has already infiltrated every corner of the country. People drink only Coca Cola, eat only McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, obesity is rampant. A once enlightened people under the competent leadership of Allende has been reduced punished under the heel of the United States and their Pinochet-faced CIA puppet.

Please research the dozens of US-instigated coups across the world. They have destroyed countless countries and their histories, all in the name of profit and control.

Yes, fat is glorified in the United States. The Untied States of America glorify everything that will make them money. Being obese is a sign of an uneducated populace, and an uneducated populace is very easy to manipulate and dominate and to profit from. See this election as an example.

The weakest are glorified because of all the hate they put up with, because now since they know what it's like, supposedly they can't hate or shame anyone and that makes them perfect in the eyes of liberals. Feelings are the most important things now. So be a victim in America and you are invincible. Be a white man who works hard and you're racist cunt by default.

America is the land of convenience. Of the minimum monthly payment. Of putting off the important stuff till tomorrow. Of pretending everything's fine. Of not doing something because it makes you uncomfortable. Of looking for the easy way out.

What were you expecting to happen?

It's not glorified it's just common. People don't think it's great to be fat, they just are through stupidity and laziness. Sure there are autists that hype it up #Love your body and shit but really generally speaking society thinks it's shit

There is no truly fat person on earth who really likes the way they are.

when i first arrived to america, i was fucking shocked at how most normal people ate

3-4 cokes a day, tonnes of sweets and cakes and snacks and shit.

what the fuck? back here in asia we eat sweets and cakes once a week not three times a fucking day

and coke 3-4 times a day? how the fuck do people drink that shit

everyone also drives everywhere... here we walk if its under 3km, and if its 3km-5km we take a bicycle.

This.

Inb4 butthurt americunts.

would rather work out at a typical american gym than a typical asian gym desu

honestly i will be the first to admit most asians are beta faggots. weight lifting is not as big here. people prefer cardio/taichi/yoga and shit like that. i've seen some faggoty shit at gyms and the best ones are run by westerners.

America spreading its cancer is not secret

I want to ask Americans on this board a question.

For me as a non-American living in Britain whenever I've tuned into an American reality show or sitcom, I can't help but feel almost viscerally repulsed by the overall falseness of the production. I mean it's typical of the entire cast to be sporting perfectly sleek, coiffed hair, full makeup, even during scenes where a character is waking up in the morning. Their teeth are unnaturally straight and white, almost gleaming, none of them appear to be suffering from a weight problem, be it underweight or overweight, unless a character fits into the token fat guy model. It's just so unnatural.
In Britain for example, actors are generally selected based on merit of their ability, but for America the actors appear to be selected purely on their physical appearance regardless of how good or bad their acting is (I feel a lot of this has contributed to people saying Britain is an island filled with uggos, whilst partially accurate, it's more that we select average people to mirror the reality of our average society).

This is especially compounded when you see comparisons between British shows that have been remade in the US, i.e. Shameless, Skins, The I.T. Crowd (although that never took off), Being Human. Being Human especially, part of what made it so good was the awkwardness in which it presented itself, which was that of a mirror of typical British life featuring typical British people (image related is an campaign comparison, UK on top, US on the bottom). I mean the protagonist was some dumpy, 4-eyed, dumbo-eared fucker, a totally accurate portrayal of average citizens encountering unnatural occurrences. The US actors all look like they model for catalogues on the side.

So my question to Americans is, how do you feel about this exactly? Is it something are can actively notice and recognise too, or have you become too acclimatised to it? Why do you believe American productions force this irregular portrayal of reality?

Another comparison between UK and US I.T. Crowd (obviously Moss has the same actor).

we're able to discern reality from tv shows, so we don't have massive amounts of insecurity. thus, we prefer watching attractive people do things when we can

Do you not believe that it's wrong on a sociological level to continuously push a creepily inaccurate portrayal of daily American life though? Like maybe this is a portion of what contributes to the Capitalistic attitudes that rule the lives of so many US citizens? i.e., I'll buy this whitening toothpaste to get teeth like the actors on T.V., oh shit the abrasions fucked my teeth, better book in for some veneers. I still have a weight problem even though I bought all those sandwiches the T.V. advertised telling me I'd lose weight, time for a gastric. Eva Longoria was in a magazine I bought the other day advertising her new makeup line, better but the lipstick, better buy the blush, gotta look like Eva Longoria, spending will make me beautiful. More things, more things, more things.

Shart in mart

I sincerely believe that the reason modern sexuality is so screwed up is due to the 'background' effects of TV. It's not so much the glossy portrayal (which everyone KNOWS is fake) that fucks you up, it's the assumptions that underly the glossiness.

For instance - how many 40 year olds working in typical 'TV' jobs (e.g. architecture, publishing, cops, law, etc) do you think are single, have zero family responsibilities, go out regularly on weeknights, and regularly have dates with attractive people of the same age which end in sex?

their Brains just dont have the capability to think for themselves, so they need the media to tell them.

just look at their presidential candidates

Mate, UKfag here. I've noticed this too. I'd recommend reading Horkeimer and Adorno's Dialectic of Enlightenment, esp the chapter 'culture industry: enlightenment as mass deception'. Just google 'Adorno culture industry'.

I think this in part of he reason why robots exist. They grow up with the promise of being special, and they believe they are even without any effort, so when they are not recognized as such by their peers, they turn into bitter robots. Add to that the belief on a good old time utopia and you just built /pol/

Probably the influence of state television and actors that start at state schools partnered with different expectations of what viewers want. The stage tradition is probably more important with more crossover between that and film acting than it is in the US.

The biggest thing in the US that leads to what you're talking about is probably the apparent lower regard the film makers have of the audience and its expectations. A lot of content generated in the US by the mainstream industry is aimed at a supposed lowest common denominator that underestimates the expectations of the viewing public.

Virtually none I would imagine, especially if they're working full time.

I have to say, I'm and I'm actually female and even I feel its effects to a degree.
I just turned 25 and whilst I'm mostly enjoying cozy nights in with my partner playing vidya or watching media, a few months ago I began watching Sex and the City because apparently it's the great big cult classic I've missed out on, and now all of a sudden I'm craving expensive clothes and lamenting not being able to go out every night for drinks with the grills like all the cool mid-20's women on the flashing light box do; I don't even have a girl clique. It's not exactly like I'm unintelligent either, I work in Int. Relations and translation/interpretation, have my BA and a number of other qualifications. It's fucking weird man.

Oh thanks user, I'll go look for a PDF now and add it to my library. I've been looking for something new like this to read for a while.
I have nothing to offer in return but I just read Ted Kaczynski's manifesto. P. good read.

This also sounds like a good explanation.

PC?

Growing up in Miami, fat certainly didn't feel glorified. Everyone made fun of fat people, no one even wanted to be friends with fat people. I gained weight in highschool because of medications I was forced to take and my "best friend" literally said she couldn't be my friend anymore because I was too fat

You didn't gain weight because of medications, you gained weight because you ate too much because your appetite increased due to medications. At least be honest.

Nail on the head

It's not. It's just a meme that got out of hand.

Look up zyprexa, "major weight gain" is a side effect in 99% of users, it fucks with your blood sugar. They were sued because of the severe metabolic effects

Its not. Its just common

Americans will deny this and blame the Russians. Both of them are a cancer.

Second.
It's just too easy to be fat. You can eat fast food everyday here and not go broke if you have a normal job.

So why haven't we harnessed this medication to end world hunger then seeing as one of the side effects is spontaneous weight gain from thin air.

SHART IN MART

hebrews

Really it's not
You only think that because
A: you've never been to America or
B: you never leave your house and your only source of learning is /pol/

It's mostly the roasties that are into "reality tv." I wouldn't be surprised if they thought it was real though

Fat used to be glorified in Middle Ages. Only the rich could afford eating much. Today I don't think it's glorified, for the contrary. Having time and money to build a fit body isn't for poorfags.

>Why is fat glorified in america?

It's not, but it's not all that shamed either (aside from a circle of teenage friends) because that has its own consequences.

Being fat says you support big business, and not always in the form of patronizing fast food establishments either.

American here, I don't think it's glorified, just widely accepted. Being fit is still glorified more, except for the super vocal minority HAES people on social media. But very few Americans would ever see a fat person and aspire to be like them over a fit person. They'd say otherwise on social media maybe, but not in real life.

accurate af

>everyone also drives everywhere... here we walk if its under 3km, and if its 3km-5km we take a bicycle
There are a bunch of issues with transportation in the US
>aging and underfunded transit systems like AMTRAK
>capitalism promotes the idea of everyone owning their own vehicle
>public transportation is uncommon or limited in some states due to nofunds
>outside of cities almost no areas with bike lanes or roads safe for cyclists to ride on, or even sidewalks
>people are willing (or desperate enough) to travel out of state for work and the large distance requires driving

Well for starters I'm a woman, but I've seen plenty a man binge watching/eating on similar male-driven content.

Also this isn't /r9k/. Back to your cage neckie.

You guys legit sound like fucking idiots
>everyone in America drinks coke and eats cake all day lol
Fucking where? I live in tiny shithole in California, I'm fit, most of friends are fit, I barely see fats and if they are, they're usually fucking spics.
Like ho-ly shit you niggers.
middle America and the south are fat as fuck I will admit though.
Please kill yourselves.

we'll pretend USA isn't homogenous if you do the same and stop calling us yuropoors

Canadian here
We love anything that isn't traditionally 'western'

>I live in tiny shithole in California, I'm fit, most of friends are fit
>my anecdotal experiences are law

>fucking where?
Looks like all that internal fat finally made its way to your cerebral cortex as you appear to have forgotten that more than 68.8 percent of adults in America are considered overweight or obese. 1.2 percent shy of 70 percent.

>He forgets what immigrants are
But I'm not going to make an assumption about your weight because I'm not insecure.

Are you insinuating that almost 70% of the population of the US is comprised solely of obese immigrants kek

>p-pls kill yourselves
>I-I'm not insecure

The consumerist mindset that encourages greed, gluttony, and instant gratification. Just like Brave New World Americans are programmed to consume at all times, including food.

Fitness is a long term process, and most Americans are satisfied with instant gratification. The Veeky Forums are the happy few.

Not solely but they make up a good amount.
Just think before you post, it usually ups the quality.

google.co.uk/#q=immigrant percentage us

>The U.S. immigrant population stood at more than 42.4 million, or 13.3 percent, of the total U.S. population of 318.9 million in 2014

B T F O
T
F
O

Alright, let's think about this...
Immigrants make up for about 13.3 percent of the total american population.

Now, immigrants actually are not nearly as obese as native Americans, but let's assume all 13.3 percent of immigrants are obese. That leaves over half of the non immigrant population as obese.

Now account for the elderly.

cultural Marxism

epic delusion

America is the greatest country of all time

t. German whose biggest goal in life it is to become an American.

>Weakest are glorified

Preach! The whole democratic process is rooted in slave morality

I live in Vermont and we are supposedly one of the least fat states, you are full of fucking shit. I can't stand yurocucks and I think butthurt faggots in denial like you might be worse.

>Tfw Mexico is fattest country but yurocucks won't let go.

Go outside maybe? Just a thought, instead of consuming everything the internet tells you.

Seconded.

>butthurt: the post
are you so surprised that in the land of opportunity, many choose lives of indulgence?

Oliver Stone pls go.

Just got back from the gym, I walked to and from, saw some fat people and a whole bunch of Subarus. The fact is there are over 200 million overweight or obese people in this country, I don't see the point in denying it.

>He genuinely believes that immigrants account towards a majority of the 70% obesity rate

>if I exclude everyone who is overweight, no one is

Only delusional Americans refuse to acknowledge this, cheap patriots who swallow their own propaganda.

Overall however the positive/negative aspects of the American dominance has been very neutral, maybe even more positive than negative, let's not forget things they excel at like their technological prowess and space research. A USSR or a China dominated world would be much worse, and honestly I'm ok with how things are now given the superpower alternatives, better the devil you know.

I'm in favour of a free market but America is not really the face of "capitalism", Singapore, Switzerland and other countries are way more capitalistic than America, even Australia or New Zealand have an overall better economic freedom index than the USA. America is "Imperialism" and "Plutocracy" more than "capitalism", imperialism masked behind the biggest propaganda machine the world has ever seen, so they are always "the good guys" and people is eager and fast to forget their heinous crimes, crimes for which any other nation and leaders would have suffered dramatic consequences.

It's happening in Denmark as well. Danish chicks have been pretty unkempt for the longest time, but their bodies and beautiful faces have made up for it, but that's just not the case anymore. I've seen some US-tier fat people here. It's crazy. But the more fat the people become the more attractive I become so I don't know how to feel about it.

Two words: Sugar addiction.

Everyone is in on it, and sugar has no mind-altering properties, plus it's legal. So it's not seen as "bad". But all that HAES fat acceptance bullshit is textbook addiction denial behavior.

As if you're that much better.

>'Haha! Look at the civil war in Syria! Glad I live in glorious Sudan'

Fat glorification is how you keep people buying shitloads of garbage food, doing shit diets that don't work, going to gyms to just dick around, spending money on medicine and doctor visits and dying early.

Welcome to America.

The desire of money will always outweigh the desire to do good for the people for the majority.

pinochet did nothing wrong you cock gargling faggot kike

he only killed communist shit eaters nothing wrong with that

American here. We're victims of our own success, and have gotten really, really soft. So we're cash and looks rich, but character poor.

>he only killed communist shit eaters nothing wrong with that
Pinochet was literally a low class beta psyco. Get your facts straight tripscum

Yes, starving people sure can afford those medications... Idiot.

I'll just be here laughing until you realise why what you just said was retarded

quality bait

you have 50,000,000 people living in actual poverty. america sucks, you couldn't pay me to live there. americans are brainwashed from birth to be convinced that they're the greatest at everything all of the time. no one outside of the US is fooled by it, 5 year olds praying to the flag in their morning indoctrination ritual at school will believe this though, and will continue to do so

We like beautiful people. Hollywood has no shortage of hot people trying to be actors, after all. We have some shows with "normal" people, like the Office, where the only real cuties are the two young lovers.

And let's be honest. The average Brit is so, so much uglier than the average American. It's not a big deal, America is a big place. It's just the way it goes.

I do think that bongs are uglier than americans, but you also have to consider american obesity rates, severely reducing actor material. There's lots of american actors that are shit at acting but are simply very attractive. And their clothes, make-up and grooming are very well done.

So, earn money, and then do good with it. That would be far more effective than sitting here bitching on an American weightlifting forum about how others don't do what you want with their money.

Holley Mangold is looking good, didn't spot her at this years Olympics though?

lmao I've been to other "first world countries" and id pick the USA every time. stay mad about the Olympics
