Depends on the coffee and how it was made.

If I'm making it myself at home, it's in a French press, I use about 40 grams of dark French roast grounds for a 16 ounce cup, and I'll add either 15 grams of blonde sugar and 2 little scoops of stevia, plus about 2 ounces of half-and-half.

If it's Starbucks from work, it's drip (which is inferior) and it needs as much sweetener and cream as I can stand to make it palatable.

If it's Seattle's Best from work, it's medium roast, and even though it's drip, it's reasonable enough that all it needs is some half-and-half and it's good to go.

If it's espresso, I get my whole 16 ounce vacuum-insulated cup full of it, and add a shitload of sweetener and cream to it, for mega-strong coffee, and I enjoy levitating 6 inches off the floor the whole day because of it.

More exotic coffees (like a really good Sumatran) may be good enough to drink black; has to be pretty goddamned good coffee to drink that way though, especially considering that I hate weak coffee. Light roasts are tasteless and a waste of money in my opinion. So are many medium roasts.
