I can do like 9 pull-ups .12 chin-ups with good form, no sweat. But I struggle with 10lb plates for ohp after 3x5. Can bench a plate 3x5. Struggle to squat w/ 25lbs a side but can dl a plate 3x5. It's been over a year, and I lost close to 45 lbs, but these days it's more like 40. I'm never going to make it but I'm ok with that.

I started out as a complete dyel/fat-fuck who couldn't even do a single push-up, ate on a small deficit the whole time I was lifting, got in way too little protein, slept too little, missed about 2 weeks of training, stayed on linear progression for about a month after hitting the wall and still hit 1/2/3/4 as a 1RM in 6 months and for 3X5 in 7-7.5 months.

I can't imagine a grown man over 5'8'' who'd could have trouble hitting 1/2/3/4 for reps after a year.

It's not completely arbitrary, 1/2/3 is pretty balanced and functional, those proportions are based on athletes and soldiers. The 4 highly depends on proportion - it can vary between 3.5-4 depending on them.

While the main draw is the roundness of the numbers, it's still a decent goal for a new lifter to strive for in the first 3-9 months, once you achieve it no normie will call you weak and you will look at least above average naked as long as your BF% is 15 or below.

probably had a lot more strength than I to begin with. i struggled with the bar x5 when starting out, still I think ur e-statting or in the 1% genetics group that get gains handed to you on a silver platter

Try candito's 6 week program. You download the file, plug in your 1rm for each lift, choose your accessories and it does the rest for you. First time doing it my squat when up 20lbs, my Dl went up 40 and my bench went up 10. I'm going to run it one more time and then hopefully I can hit 2 pl8 bench.

When you look at it my progress isn't even that great, it took me 5 months to double my bench from beginner levels. That's fucking abysmal - most people on SS claim to do that within 2 months.

Texas method for around 4 months will build your sqwat. look into 4 day split version or powerlifting version if you want better bench development.
