Yes gf, all my friends are back in CA
Lifting about 1.5 years, used to lift back in high school but that's a long ass time ago now

I sew costumes. Sometimes I take art commissions and have done a clothing collab with a small designer. It's enough to support myself and my husband plus pay some of my parents' bills when they need help (my younger sister has fucked them over). It kind of sucks, because it is a niche market, and there are other people seeing the money to be made and jumping on it. I've been doing it for about a year now, but I'm not sure how sustainable it is.

I only quit my old job, which made decent money, because I like setting my own hours and working from home. It has really helped me make gains.

how is the life of a pharmacist? I heard it's 100,000 a year, and 9-5, low stress. True or sorta bullshit?

100k very reasonable in many, even most, locales. Problem can be that there is on real income advancement in many places.

9-5 exists various places, possibly not in big box, corporate pharma. Can be extreme stress depending on environment (online pill/mail order places, aforementioned big box pharma).

Overall amazing job to look into. You can even go clinical and be what is essentially a doctor of drug interactions at a hospital or care center.

Retail: 120k starting, work 8-7, very high stress, not even time for a lunch break just eat while you work
Hospital/clinic: 100k starting, work 9-6, medium stress (don't have to deal with customers nearly as much but higher risk decision-making), always get a lunch break

Fuck retail, btw. Doing that as a temp gig until I can find a hospital position.

My neighbor works in Manhattan as a costume designer. Worked on Madonna's tour in the last few years and has constant work doing Broadway shows.

Lots of pharm grads get shuffled between multiple walgreens/CVS locations and have weird hours, but if you can land a solid job with set hours/location I imagine it's a comfy life.

Why the hell do I keep seeing "online friend" popping up in these threads? What is an online friend? How can someone be your friend if you've never actually interacted with them in real life?

If you have the prerequisite courses you can get your PharmD in 3 years. Just basic shit like general calc, general physics, bio, chem, ochem, anatomy, physiology, biochem.

are we all the same personality?

I live in Melbourne. What did you do to get where you are now? I'm studying an IT sec degree and finish at the start of the year. Just curious about someone a few years in the future from me.

What do you mean same personality?

gotta lift to compensate for excessive sitting? plus great pay, post ending in 7 gets blessed with great genetics so lifting is a way to achieve ubermench?

I got good grades in University (UQ '07-'10) which landed my a job at IBM in my 3rd year. I worked throughout my 4th year of university and collected course credit for it (did my thesis on my IBM work). When I graduated I had a year professional work with a good company already under my belt (C, C++ and Java work)

After graduation I took the full time job at IBM in 2011 at 56k/year (+5k bonus). I stayed for one year. It was a good job but I wanted to travel before settling.

I moved to London for 3 years, IBM on my resume landed me a job on my first day (£35k/yr, C Programming). I took a pay cut but got 35 days holiday a year to travel Europe.

Start of 2015 I moved back to Aus and landed a contractor role for a mining company (IBM and international work on my resume) on about $115k a year, C++/C# development. After 18 months (so about 3 months ago), I signed full time.

I paid little tax on my first contract back in Aus because I did 6 months of the financial year in the UK. I also moved in with the gf's parents for a year rent-free and managed to save $60k. Add that to 40k I already had saved and I had 100k for a place. My gf matched me and we brought a City apartment.

I'm currently training to be a Senior Software Enginner and hope to be on 130k soon. I expect to be financially on top of the apartment in 3 years.

Oh right. But we are in the minority and you have to ask yourself... how many of us are actually Veeky Forums

>gotta lift to compensate for excessive sitting? plus great pay, post ending in 7 gets blessed with great genetics so lifting is a way to achieve ubermench?
I was always into sports and fitness but suffered a bad knee break in highschool. I fell into games and that led me down a software development path. Once I had knee surgery I ramped up fitness and now I'm here.

I did have posture issues, but resolved them.

does it not hurt your ego?

>shit pay if you're good. plus a month of vacation a year is not all that great
Yeah it is shit pay. But I wasn't focusing on my career in London at all. I would walk out of the office at 5:30 on the dot without any questions, that kind of attitude doesn't really land you good money. The 35 days + the bank holidays is a damn lot of holiday to take. The gf and I would make sure we did a (ideally long holiday) weekend in Europe every month and got to tackle 4 big 2 week or so holidays a year

>Why not just work, save up, and fuck off?
I got to live in another country for 3 years, travel all over and came back with £30k. It wasn't the worst way to do things. Travelling for 6 months is a different experience to actually moving to the place, I wouldn't trade out what I did for the former.

Check Kaiser Permanente my wife works for them as a physician the pay/benefits are good and most of the locations are run by the physician group instead of Kaiser itself.

No, I supported myself from the age of 17 then when I met my current wife it was pretty clear that she will probably always make more money than me.

When my life was entirely together I still came here m8.

This place is just so much more comfy than any other places, and I never figured out how to use reddit

oh your sugar momma and your wife are the same person.

>Tasmania
Any tasmanian tiger sightings?

I'm successful but also retarded but not autistic. Well maybe I am because I pride myself on having achieved so much and stayed the same fucko I've been since I was a kid.

In retrospect I should have clarified. The sugar momma thing was just a joke way of saying that I live off my wifes income.

Yeah, the only issue is that every state has their own licensing, so I'd have to apply for that and take the exam for every state that I'm applying for. I'm perfectly fine with relocating anywhere in Oregon, and I'm currently studying for the California licensing exam.
