In addition to simply being less weight:

The angle is on a decline which makes it easier: the hardest part, at the lowest point of the rep, is about 66% bodyweight, as you go up, it is effectively lighter (you can think of it as a basic physics problem with forces acting on the vertical plane changing with respect to the angle of your body to the ground).

Using three points of stability makes it far more stable and easier.

The only thing bodyweight push-ups have over bench is more core use, but at bodyweight, this should not be an issue.

Its possible, but there's a fair amount of technique and core strength required. It doesn't look or work quite the same as a regular pushup.

I know it isn't much, but six months ago, I was struggling to do 1pl8 for working sets and 185lbs for 1rm. I can feel my body getting stronger and moving bigger things. After hitting 1pl8 OHP about a month ago, just hit 3pl8 squat 2 days ago. Bench is at 215... but that last 10 pounds to 2pl8 is taking a while. Diddly is lagging a bit at 365 so I still have 40 pounds to make up to get it to 4pl8, but I'm feeling confident.

For me 1/2/3/4 is a pretty big milestone given how skinny I used to be (and still am to a degree).

throw in some push pressing to break past plateaus and some behind the neck pressing for size, focus on intensity rather than volume, and you'll be golden, my shoulders are generally the first thing people compliment me on and i hit 60kg for reps in my first 6 months of training
