welp its not really because of keto. maybe it is but i am not sure.

i was just saying that when i try to keep my calories at 1k or lower on average i just have 0 room for any carbs. especially when i want to eat some tastier meat now and then like steak and quarterlegs.

Veeky Forums will tell me that bread isn't as good as other carbs, but I've got no clue why. I honestly couldn't tell you why bread is any better or worse for you than simple white sugar, never mine something more agreeable like oats.

Bread is fucking awesome. I never did anything aside from macro counting and haven't had any problems with cutting or bulking and gaining strength before. Only been lifting for 8 months though, so what do I know.

It's not the carbs that is the difference. It's the other macros and micros. Wonderbread is basically pure carbs and various additives, virtually no protein, fat, or micros that are actually good for you. Same with sugar. Oats has more protein and better micros, so it's better than standard white bread.

one important thing about understanding Veeky Forums is that most people here were fat before working out. Thus a lot of the advice here is directed more towards losing weight than gaining it

As long as you're getting your micros and fiber from other sources there is literally no downside to eating "empty calories". If you like it and it doesn't throw off the rest of your nutrition, fucking eat it.

Generally, the aerobic an activity, the more your body is likely to burn carbohydrates as a fuel source than burning fat. Running, rowing, and I think swimming are examples, utilizing a high amount of carb consumption to keep going. Less aerobic activity, like lifting is better for more of a fat burn. thats why it's easier to burn more fat with a higher muscle mass. The least aerobic activity, walking is said to burn a lot of fat, although it would take a fuckload of time.

I use white bread as preworkout for rowing. Processed carbs metabolise quickly (half hour or so) and allows for a steady burn. Whole weat is better for a consistent fuel source because it's longer to digest.

You're a fucking idiot. Your body uses glycogeb to restore blood sugar before body fat regardless of exercise. If you don't finish a lifting session before your glycogen depletes, your recovery time will shoot through the roof. This is ehy you always run after lifting and not the other way around

Mankind has been eating bread for thousands of years, but not the commercially produced sugar laden bullshit we mass produce today. It was as little as 30% grain and typically cultured for most of our history.

The same is true of almost all commercial foods. It's the reason cultured foods are still at the top of just about every nutritional list.

So, if the only argument against bread (both white and brown) is that it's empty calories, what's wrong with just plain old white sugar? Provided that the rest of your macros are in check.

Generally It bloats, nutritionally it is not great but not terrible either, high in fibre, high in calories and starchy carbs.

If your goal is to cut then bread is a pretty shitty choice and a no brainer to remove. However if your a hungry skeleton or looking to 4K cal bulk then adding it is not going to harm you that much, providing that you don't make bread the staple part of that diet.

I remember my first Madcow cycle I was eating near 4K cals a day, working 10-12 hr shitty retail shifts with only 1 short break, I used to stuff down almost 2K cals worth of peanut butter sandwiches. I can tell you it did me wonders.

TL;DR There are better choices but it won't give you cancer.
