Look here's the thing crossfit is very demanding and requires that you already have the basics down and know how the movements are supposed to feel.

It IS NOT good for beginners. I think it's shit tbqh and not worth the exponentially higher risk of injury when compared to traditional training. Just do cardio on your off days and it will give you the same results.

Most of the guys that do the crossfit Olympics don't actually train cross fit.

Its good atmosphere to get people who don't normally work out have competition and have goals, which may have been harder for them to do by themselves but there are cheaper and safer options to get the same effect with lower risk of injury.

There's nothing Inherently wrong white it but it's the cultists culture that surrounds it that is the issue. Drinking the Kool aid no matter what you're apart of is usually a terrible idea.

The issue with cross fit is that it became to commercialized and you aren't working out towards a goal. There are a hand full of a decent cross fit places out there but a majority of them are not run properly and are only ran to make money. The people teaching these cross fit classes don't teach safety( bailing ) and form they just tell you do these exercises. That brings me to the 2nd point, working out just to exercise. When you follow a structured routine you will know what exercises you are going to do each day and what the results are going to be. Crossfit prides it's self on being the opposite of this. Every day you do a random assortment of exercises. Monday you might do a burpee box jump push up circuit. Wednesday you are doing 10 sets of OHP into kipping pull ups to failure. These random workouts make it even harder for the instructor teaching the class to come up a decent workout plan for long term results because at the end of the day they are businessmen, not athletes. Crossfitters tend to think they are doing a lot and building muscle but in reality they are just working up a sweat and accomplishing nothing in the process. This isn't just a problem with crossfit btw, this is a problem with personal trainers as well but.

tl:dr Crossfit is is poorly structered and poorly run. Becoming a crossfitter will leave you with an empty wallet and little to no gains unless you can find a place that is properly run which is very difficult to do.

Crossfit is ideal for retired athletes or athletes who have reached their goals in one sport and want to move on to training in a different way.
It's shit for people who are new to exercise, because they learn bad habits that they don't know how to compensate for.

My friend joined a crossfit gym and it sounds very different from what Veeky Forums and hilarious youtube videos lead me to believe. Mainly because on his first day they mostly just tested to see what his 1RMs were on various lifts, including the main ones.

To be fair most good crossfit gyms dont do "crossfit" in the sense that they actually programm (which goes completly against actual crossfit protocol) their workouts same goes for every competitor a good structured "crossfit" (oly lifting, powerlifting moves gymnastics, metcons, cardio) program is probably the best thing for the individual who wants to get fit.

It's called an axle bar, used in strongman. The mix grip is called a continental clean. Typically axles don't have rotating collars so the say you clean needs to be differant.

It is an axle, the bar is a solid piece of metal without bearings so the weights don't spin. You can't clean it normally unless you're beastly strong compared to the weight you use. Also thicked bar means your grip might not be good enough to do it double overhand.

Even the strongest man in history does it when it is heavy enough.

It's an advanced lift for specialists that has a high injury risk even when done properly. A person continental cleaning 100lbs really ought to be able to deadlift 315 and regular clean 185. if you can't do that you likely don't have the strength to safely do it.
