notice how it's also the people who love deadlifts?

that's because long limbs make deadlifting really enjoyable, and make squatting really fucking miserable (long femurs)

Yes they are. And the give by far the best feeling in the lats imo.

Idk man. Didn't even hurt me in the shoulder. I read that you should do an inward rotation with the hands when going up. Did that and after 2 or 3 workouts suddenly had excruciating pain on the outer side of my left wrist. Stopped doing lateral raises like that, pause for like 2 weeks and onl once did them again this way - where my wrist started hurting again. Don't know what happened there.

sounds like you got wrist tendonitis

watch out that shit is nasty, i got it from seating the bar too high in my palm during OHP and having my hand snap backwards

>The one that got you inured
fucked up my back when I was younger from not properly retracting my scapula when doing pushups

triceps*

Lateral raises are bad because people tend to go too high wanting a full ROM but raising your elbows above the clavicle in that motion creates inward friction on the shoulder blades that can wear down something internally, I forget what

That actually explains a lot. My squat is atrocious and just causes me pain and discomfort. My deadlift is disproportionately high and I enjoy doing them.

Yeah I have a shorter femurs and relatively long torso and I like squats better.

you can go overhead with them

None yet, although deadlifts irritate my piriformis muscle and my sciatic nerve starts to ache a little, the pain radiates down my left leg and it fuckin sucks, scared of deadlifting now.

I actually had wrist tendonitis in both arms a few years ago from overtraining. In fact I had it 2 or 3 times. Didn't really get treatment, just paused 2-3 weeks and it got away. I really don't have any problems with my wrists anymore, just the lateral raises and only when doing them with internal rotation. I don't get why it hurts so bad and why it's only in my left wrist, but whatever. Afaik the internal rotation is bad anways, so not a real loss.

youtube.com/watch?v=q5sNYB1Q6aM
I find this to be the most comfortable way of doing them.

Same. Not really pain while squatting, but having good form and actually moving some weight is fucking miserable. Also have quite long femurs, average arms and a relatively short torso. Deads however seem incredibly easy.

Are you a living meme?

>ideal squatting build, very upright squat that puts most demand on the femurs

Yeah exactly. If you have problems squatting since your legs (specifically the femurs), widen your stance, that will shorten the distance between your knee caps and the bar.

Femur/your height
if the ratio is above 0,26, you are at a disadvantage for squats but are better proportioned for deadlifts.
Everything below 0,26 means shorter femurs and a proportionally longer torse. Take a look at Lu Xianjun's body. His upper body is completely upright despite his deep squatting. Ideal proportions for squatting

squats.

I just squatted to much at the start which triggered some degeneration in the thoracic vertebrae from the weight that rested on that area.

No more squats until maybe next summer and I'll get another x-ray to see if we're good to go. Leg presses until then. At least I still have deadlifts.

femurs are 31% of height @ 6'4"

445 sq 575 dead

my deadlift barely ever decreases, while losing 5lbs of bodyweight make my squat fall apart

What ratio should the lower legs be compared to femurs and height?

Its not too bad, dont put too much emphasis on this. But the fact of the matter is, not everyone can be a world class squatter by dedication alone.
For guys with longer legs, try a wider stance and flaring the knees a bit more. Everyone's body is different, there is no ideal way to squat.
Watch the videos I linked, changed the way I approached my lifts.

Femur length is more important. If you dont have abnormally large shin bones, I would not worry about it.

So my femurs are a bit above average and my lower leg (knee to floor) is even a bit longer (about 5cm). With shoes on that should be even more. So how does that effect my squat-ability?

Back squats. Dislocated my shoulder. Was my favorite exercise, now i do front squats instead, but at very low weight

How did you get injured?

Shoes would probably just push your knees further, making squatting just harder. Wider stance, flaring knees more and most importantly, let go of the meme that everyone must squat atg. Some people are just not built for it.
