What part of being proud of having ancestors from Europe conflicts with the knowledge that they settled there from someone else? They created their own culture and adapted to that environment. As someone of European descent, it is enjoyable in some respects to have a sense of closeness, both culturally and genetically to those people. I am much closer to my brother/father/mother than a long distant third or fourth cousin, and I think that it's similar with how close you feel to your ancestry.
