I worked with a guy who used to do hundreds of reps with a very low weight

A schoolmate about 10 years ago claimed that one kind of curl exercise gave bicep peak, while another gave bicep length. I knew nothing at the time, so I couldn't tell him how completely wrong he was.

By that logic everything but lifting is bad.

That would mean you could make the bicep bigger on one side compared to the other side. I doubt that is actually possible.
Also, even if that were the case, you can't change the length or the peak of your biceps by doing specific exercises. So he was completely wrong.
