>he meditates and doesn't follow an indo European religion

Ayyyyyy

>sitting completely still doing nothing.
Wow, what brain gains bro?
How about you pick up a intellectual hobby.
Chess for strategy.
Reading for literature and knowledge.
Course studies for specialized fields.

Those are much better prospects for brain gains than sitting on the floor for a fucking hour.

This. Letting your mind wander every once in a while is fine but doing it on a schedule is asinine.

Christianity and meditation go toget her just fine and that way you don't have to act like a special snowflake white buddhist

You two have never researched the effects of meditation on the brain. I suggest you do so, before passing such stark judgment

>meditation on YHWH and the muslim desert god is the same as reaching enlightenment.

Ayyy

Found the millenial

Also good luck reaching enlightenment while you tell people to kill themselves on the Internet. Sort yourself out before you correct others

I didn't know ancient chinese monks adhered to the Christian calendar

I practice the kirtan kriya currently. Practice in the sense that I am new and don't know what I'm doing.

Got to agree with that other guy. You don't seem very enlightened, or even on the path to it. You're just stroking your spiritual dick

I also lift, run, stroke off to porno gifs and play Diablo 3 for hours. If your non-dualitist mind frame is in place you will realize all these things are the same.

Master of Beginner's Mind right here

I didn't know they wore fedora's either

Taoists probably did. They had a thing for funny hats.

Meditation is a fantastic way to increase your concentration, memory, and overall sense of well-being and inner peace. Unfortunately, a lot of western people are pretty clueless about what meditation actually IS and how to practice it. You have only to look at this thread to understand what I'm talking about: People calling it "sitting on the floor for no reason" and arguing about this or that religion. They are utterly clueless.

A lot of people try to meditate and really aren't sure if they are doing it right. They'll sit with their eyes closed while their mind races for awhile. "Am I doing it?" They think, "is this meditating? Is something supposed to happen? When does the magic kick in."

Most meditation sessions have an object to aid in focus, and for me, the simplest object and the one that I always recommend to people is the breath. Focus on breathing consciously. Breath in, breath out. Your mind will wander a bit -- that's okay. Just watch the thoughts come and go, don't try to hinder or restrain them. Think of them as birds crossing a clear sky, here and then gone. Focus on the breath. Become the breath. Feel the awareness spread throughout your body. Feel it expand until you are aware of every molecule, every pulse of energy. Keep going until self and non-self become one and the same. Until all is self and self is all, until there is no self. There is only being.

It can take as little as five to ten minutes and the therapeutic benefits are myriad.

I am getting ready to eat a fist full of my own excrement like the great Aghori holy men.

Just want to preface this by saying that all your information is correct, but
>Become the breath. Feel the awareness spread throughout your body. Feel it expand until you are aware of every molecule, every pulse of energy. Keep going until self and non-self become one and the same. Until all is self and self is all, until there is no self. There is only being.

You might want to turn this kind of thing down in the future (Even though the description is accurate for how you can feel while meditating). If your goal is to lead people to meditation, this sort of thing will lure them away. It makes meditation seem like the mystical mumbo-jumbo that people already have the preconceived (false) notion that it is, and as such, a spiritual hoax.

Just focus on how it actually affects your brain. You did this perfectly in your opening line.

Good luck with all your endeavors, user. Good or bad

Fucking pleb those are spiritual gains. Read a book.

Pranayama is a great way to get a new phone phone number for the phone number to call you at the airport to see if you can find a way to get a a new one for you to be able to make it to the end of end end of end of end end of end top end end of end top end end of end top end end of end top end end of end top end end of end top top end of top end of top end of end of top end of top top top top end of top end of end of end of end of end of end of end of end of end of end of the the day w the day the of of the day the the day the day the day the day day you were going to be in the office!

Because if I try to clear my mind all I can think about is my ex and how she's happy with a new boyfriend and having fun. I'm happy too and I want her to be happy, I just wish breaking up affected her some way like it did me.

You've got it all wrong. It's the opposite of letting your mind wander. It's focusing your attention on your breath and realizing when your mind wanders and redirecting your attention back to your breath. Brain gainz. Read about it. Science is overwhelmingly in favor
