Sometimes you have to just work around your shifts, what hours do you work? I work 13 hours and 1 hour travel, 4 times a week so i just space my lifting on my of days and when i am not shattered still manage 4 days a week lifting.

Just grow a pair, if your really that tired take a nap and then go.

I wake up in 7:00 - 7:30, my work starts at 9:00, then at 18:00 I go home, resting there untill 19:40, then I go to the gym. I return usually at around 22:00 then at 23:00-00:00 I go to bed. Post workout I feel much more energized than if I just spend day doing nothing and resting.

I get up at 430 get home around 630 from gym then get my daughter ready for school while cooking my breakfast. It's not that bad, getting up around 630 it's the latest I sleep.

I also want an answer to this question. I have tried exercising anyways but it seems just to lead me to injury.

To put it in perspective I get up at 4am to do 9hrs of manual labour and spend an hour biking to and from said job.

Something that I do what works for me is this:

I go to the gym 4 times a week, I follow an upper/lower body routine. So twice a week I will do the same lifts. I go 2 times during the week, after work. I do hypertrophy then, meaning I do my lifts with lower weight and higher reps. It feels a bit less exhausting. Then the other 2 times I go are on saturday and sunday, where I have more energy, and then I do the same lifts again but then for strenght, heavy weight lower reps.

How do you make your money

go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. fuck what you did and college or what you consider "normal" bed time.

I'm an undisciplined piece of shit but my habit is:
4am - wake up
415am - drink coffee in parking lot of gym
430am - gym
530am - go home and shower
6am - leave for work
630am - work
4pm - get home

the earlier in the day you do something, the more priority it has (or should have) in your life. it means that you should structure your day in order of importance. this is true because of multiple reasons, some completely observational and some scientifical.

* you have more energy which means you'll be able to focus better, learn better, and everything else related to cognitive performance.
* the longer you wait to do something that's on your mind, the more it tears on you and brings you down. if you do the most important thing of the day in the morning, you will relieve a lot of cognitive dissonance throughout the day. instead of going around thinking "oh i should be doing this. oh i hope i have energy for that later" you will free up your mind and be more relaxed in general.
* in the case of working out, i feel i have more energy throughout the day if i workout in the morning. why this is, i have no idea. working out in the evening has not impacted my energy levels in any significant way, positive or negative, except for maybe falling asleep a bit easier but sometimes after hard volume days it can have the opposite effect even.

You don't HAVE to go to the gym, OP. Just eat properly and be active, do a few pushups and crunches around the office, and you'll look fine. Going to the gym is only if you want a rockin beach body, but is that necessary for your lifestyle?

the hardest part of going to the gym is going, actually getting there.

I do this same thing. I am wiped the fuck out but I drink my pre-workout on the way to the gym (which is halfway between work and home), I change into my gym clothes in the locker room and by the time I start my first set, I regain energy and I'm back up and into it.

I shower at the gym after my workout and I am re-energized for the evening and ready to do whatever since I already showered and got dressed and stuff. There's not another down-period of going home after the gym and sitting around waiting to shower or sleeping in my sweaty grossness and having to wake up early to shower before work the following day.

You have to be stronger than your desire to go home and melt into your couch. I lie to myself, "I'm just gonna stop, change into my gym clothes, do one lift and then I can go home - at least I can say I went," but I know by the time I do that first lift, I'm going to stay for the whole workout session.

I make sure to front-load my day with all the energetic shit - doing stuff you want to do in the evening, rather than feel obliged to (which is definitely where fitness falls for me), improved my quality of life tenfold. Since I pushed all the boring but necessary shit to the morning, I've learnt to play guitar, learnt a language to a conversational level, and learnt Java, which landed me a promotion. I kind of miss the gym just for the social aspect, but I'd rather have the extra cash.

Used to have the exact same routine when my shift started at 0730, just waking up at 0400 instead. As people are saying, move your ~7/8 hour sleep slot forward. Don't be constrained by when everyone else goes to bed.

Best advice I can give anyone, however, is to relocate to be near your job.
No-one can be truly productive on a commute. It was so freeing to get those 2 hours back.

I figure 100-200 mg in the AM and another 100-300 mg later in the day.

I don't always take the pill after lunch, only if I am working out and then I don't also drink coffee once I get home.

I just listed the 3 times of the day I may take caffeine so OP has an idea for how other people have energy throughout the day.

Also, drinking lots of water helps dramatically keeping energized.
