Sumo wrestlers are basically asian version of southern powerlifters.
Except sumo guys will actually wreck you irl fights

if sumo wrestlers are so healthy, why do they drop dead about 15 years sooner than average Japanese male?

>still 5-10 years longer life than average western life expectancy

Kek

These guys aren't actually that fit. Sumo wrestling is well established to be rigged (fans are willfully ignorant and deny this) and these guys don't even lift.

So Japanese version of WWE then?

Fitness =/= health you fucking retard
literally primary school level biology

Nigga, Sumo's are pound for pound some of the strongest and most fit athletes on the fucking earth.

BUH BUH THEY DONT DO THE BIG LIFTS!!
You see that big 500 pound motherfucker aht the due in blue is tossing around?
They lift that shit all day erreyday. And they aren't perfectly even bars that you can lift with a fucking weight belt in an air controlled gym either nigga.
They fight back.

They're fit as fuck. But those dudes have very very short lifespans and have a horrible life in old age.

Poor analogy but gymnasts don't lift and they are very strong pound for pound.

sumo fan here

those guys lift ever day, gyms have barbells and dbs

also the squat their own bodyweight around 300-600 times a day in practice plus other squat techňiques like squatting shuffle etc

these are strong motherfuckers with surprisingly low body fat percentages for men that size. 25%. body fat

whats up with the mud? or is that shit?

this theyre ripped as fuck under the fat

someone posted pics awhile ago

Much like a squid a suko wrestler releases his bowels in a controlled manner to reduce friction making it harder for the opponent to latch onto. The pose depicted in the picture is a stomach compression maneuver to train the said muscles giving the wrestler more control on where when and how much of his bowel content to discharge.

clay

they train and fight on especially built clay rings

These

That low center of gravity, strong as fuck legs and core are both guaranteed to fuck your shit up.

HAES originally wasn't bullshit. Losing fat isn't the only thing a fat lerson can do to be more healthy. You don't need to wait until your body fat percentage is normal to make sure you're getting enough vitamins and cardio work and whatnot. That is, fat people aren't just undifferentiatedly unhealthy and unfit and there are metrics that you can improve in parallel to losing weight. Sumo wrestlers aren't healthy, that excess body fat makes them die younger, but even despite the ceremonial and often rigged nature nature of the contests dudes are way stronger than joe mcrandomfatguy.

Then it got perverted into symptom-pooling bullshit where people started thinking of weight as completely orthogonal to health. That's the fucked part.

thanks for the info

this doesnt sound right m8 try harder next time

this is the life of a sumo wrestler

wake up

warm up
hundreds of squats
shiko
pushing the others back while they resist and slide scross the ring, aka butsukari keiko
sparring
barbell and dumbbell training

after 2-3 hours of training, eat first meal of the day, a huge portion of protein rich meat chicken and veggie soup stew called chanko, about 3-4 thousand calories worth , also tons of beer

nap time

rest of the day free

this is pretty cool. are they recruited from a young age or do their parents pay them through the program or something? do they get sponsored?

The perfect life if you're in the upper divisions. Being new is like slavery. A lot of people on this board would benefit from it.

Basically think of these people as equivalents of linebackers or defensive linemen. That's it for comparisons.

their fat is subcutaneous fat which burns easily not like visceral fat that you have in obese people

sumo contests are only rigged in a few cases

when a top fighter is close to losing an important rank but isnt ready yet to retire, other fighters with far less to lose might try less hard so to speak so he can get a good win ratio and keep his rank. to svoie this the federation will try to place fighters with a lot to lose against each other, but that means that they wont always be of similar skill level as is the usual pairing standard

Actually, it does. This board is just far more concerned with size and strength than it is fitness.

Any practitioner of any fight discipline will wreck a non fighter.

But among the different martial arts, sumo is shit, as proven by Akebono in K 1. They are too slow, making them easy targets.

thy join the gYms after high school or college. the gyms are also homes. they live there and train there, thats their whole lives. the lives of sumo wrestlersmaremvery strictly regimented, as it is japans national sport and the traditions are super strict. fo instance women arent allowed to touch the clay ring, due to shinto traditions, but the trophy is given by the governor. when the governor is a woman she gives the trophy next to the ring. the fighters cant drive cars, must wear traditional outfights and hairstyles and are treated like shit until they reach the upper divisions. its brutal

I'd like to see a top sumo against a top greco guy, only because of the similarities in force use.

Otherwise, yeah it's bad.

...

you guS should check out takanoyama, a retired czech fighter. he was 6'2 220lbs and ripped to fuck, made it to the top division through some luck and got ragdolled again and again. he was awesome but couldnt face the big guys. he also famously had a hard time keeping on weight because of how long they train and resorted to test and insulin cycles. with that he managed to go from 205 to 220 but could never go beyond

I saw a docu that said this was the main reason why no new practitioners are found: the excessive traditionalism makes it uninteresting to train. Besides the lowest or newbies must recognize their older teammates and develop a caste system, attending them and even washing them

That shit by itself is a big no no nowadays

>slow
No. Poor stamina sure. Akebono was way too fat.

many of the europeans who join sumo come fro greco and judo. Kotooshu was a top greco guy from bulgaria and made it far

is this true?

>Sumo wrestling is well established to be rigged (fans are willfully ignorant and deny this)
There's been significant crackdowns, as far as I can tell it's far less of a problem than it used to be. And while it's easy enough to lose via push out, you see lots of wins that are basically impossible to orchestrate.

It's a hard life. Athletes in contact sports die young, including nfl and rugby. A pro athlete in his 30s has like been training since he was 5-6.

>You will never live a permanent bulk for the glory of your country and the highest personal honors

>skinny people with no muscle who smoke will think they're 'healthy' because of their weight.
>Fat people will think they're 'healthy' because their blood pressure is good despite being obese
>Fat muscular people will think they're healthy despite all that fat on their liver, pressure on their heart
>bran muffins filled with sugar is 'healthy.'
>Salads slathered in mayonaisse are 'healthy'
>Eating only salad, neglecting protein and fat is 'healthy'

It doesn't make sense because it's not a scientific word. It has nothing to do with medicine or science. It's totally subjective. It's mostly just people judging things based on nonsense beliefs. So, yeah, "HAES" makes sense, because the world "healthy" doesn't really mean shit. It's a buzzword. At best it means you are "in good health" which ultimately means you aren't ill or suffering from a disease.

They are fat but physically active. Westerners are fat and lazy. That's the difference.
