It pissed me off how "meh" my body looks despite putting in years of lifting.

I only ever look good when I flex under certain lighting and trick the camera into thinking I'm aesthetic. I'd look like shit in any candid pic.

Lifting for 5 years here, too ashamed to post Current body.

I've tried everything possible. Training 3 times week, 4 times, 5 times upto 7 times.

Done your SS, your brosplit, your PPLXPPL, done your Upper/Lower, done your 5-3-1, some your canditos program, done the "train whatever you feel like on the day" routine. Ive done my own meme routines.

I've looked equally as meh on every single one I've done, the only single difference I've noticed in terms of routines is my strength levels. I can't seem to manipulate anything besides my strength level, manipulation of my body composition seems fucking impossible.

I've also recorded macros/calories for years on end and I'm fucking sick of it, all that tracking for no real results that I (and eveyone else) expected.

I'm considering either
1. Giving up
2. Focusing purely on powerlifting (since my strength is the only thing I can actually make progress on when I actually try to do it)

Not implying that I'd become an obese powerlifter, I'm just saying I'd stop doing all the bodybuilding shit I do (which seems to achieve nothing) and focus purely on strength routines and getting my lifts up while staying at a certain weight (like 80kg or so)

People who make a living out of their body are the genetic elite.

If it was as easy as just training and eating there would be no market for fitness industry. The fitness industry runs on unobtainable hopes and dreams, this goes for aspect of it, not just ifbb tier, even "natural" lifting is the same shit.

However I've started to stay leaner and eat leaner and forget about bulking and I'm still getting stronger and more aesthetic. It's no magic formula though. And sometimes I look at my old photos and think I hardly look different despite hundreds of hours of hard work.

Did strength work for 2 years and didnt see a massive change besides losing some baby fat.
Last year I did a 3 x week routine with lots of volume (4 x 8 sqquats, 4 x 8 OHP etc.) and I say quite a bit of change. Did you try playing around with different methods of increasing volume?
Are you trying to lose fat or just gain muscle?

to your point though, training for powerlifting as a natty tends to produce some actually good looking bodies (as long as you dont go "POWERLIFTER" mode. Never too shredded, but big enough to look like you lift.

I did bro-splits for 6 years straight, tons n tons of isolations, sets on sets on sets on sets. Always felt like shit outside of the gym, didn't get any magical gains on it.


Switched to powerlifting and I only do like 6 lifts in total (bench/squat/dead/chins/dips/press) and I cut down my time in the gym by 50%, and I still look the same as when I was bro-splitting doing tons of volume, but now I'm much stronger.

"Bodybuilding" is literally a fucking meme for us nattys. I also watched plenty of other fools at the gym go through the same shit.

Eat more/less. It's not that fucking hard.

If you want to look shredded you have to shred your muscles. I'm not even kidding. If you don't like the way your biceps look, you have to hit your biceps hard. That doesn't mean adding one set of curls at the end of the workout. That means doing a couple sets of heavy curls troughout the workout then adding pyramid sets at the end of the workout so that the next day you can barely move your arms. Putting all that effort into arms is a pain in the ass, though, so most people don't do it or just don't have time for it.

Obviously taking roids makes things possible that wouldn't be otherwise, but in general there's no reason you can't alter the way your body looks.

I've done exactly that and more and my arms didn't get any bigger then they have with just a few sets of Curls.

I literally had a designated arms day and blasted like 30+ sets of biceps and triceps with a variety of exercises for months on end and my arms still stayed capped around 16 inches like they are normally from chin-ups/dips etc


I'm sick of people assuming It's because I haven't trained a certain way, bullshit. I've trained every kind of way possible, results are the same either way.

Not looking like a fat sack of shit is a good thing. Being DYEL can be overcome with better diet. Up your protein to 1gram per 1pound of body weight (if you are very low bodyfat as you claim). Adjust macros to target 40% protein or higher. Push yourself harder. If you want to look bigger - hypertrophy target your program. People won't know the number of plates you lift - just the size of your body.

Just don't get fat in the course of trying to look like a body builder. Double fail when you end up looking DYEL and fat. You must work harder if you eat more. watch the scale.

I was already bald, and I'm a fireman I have a life expectancy of about 65 anyways so if it gets me first it will probably only be beating the cancermost of us get. In reality I do use it conservatively, I've never been over 400mg a week and get awesome gains out of that, if you look into it the dangers just aren't that high at low dose

Gym is a place to blow off your steam, be healthy and in the meantime get some muscles and look above average in clothing and lighting years better than average when naked.

I used to do that too, obssessing over my numbers, routine, frequency all that shit, now I do single PPL once a week, hit my weighted pull ups, OHP, bench, deadlift, squat some dumbbell for my arms and delts, cables for back chest and thats it.

I look probbably just a little bit worse than before but I am weaker by large margin.

Also, to add something, I see many anons here trying to fix their issues by gyming and therefore obssesing about every little thing( literally 90% of people on Veeky Forums including me).

Sad thing is, with that time spent on gym, you maybe can go from 4/10 to a 5/10 to a girl, because face>everything else.

You would be better be focusing on your academic success because money is happiness or spend that time clubbing, socialising with people or doing some fun group hobby.
Don't plan a day around gym, gym should be irrelevant thing to you, thing you dont even have to think about it if you are outside it.
