WWE right now is hot garbage. I can't fathom how anyone watches it. I stopped a while ago. Wrestling is, obviously, fiction. It is supposed to tell a story, and the staged fighting in front of a live crowd adds unique method of storytelling (the good wrestlers can sell a story just by working a match smart) and atmosphere (what other medium of fiction can have natural and sincere crowd reactions in real time?). Back when "wrestling was good," it DID tell a story.

Even if sometimes the story was how Kane raped Lita, got her pregnant, and then married her and then caused her to miscarry when he accidentally bowled over her when Gene Snitsky dodged his charge.

Now, it's just stupid shit happening for the sake of stupid shit happening, with no internal continuity or anything else that is required in order for the audience to suspend their disbelief and actually get invested in the shit that's happening. For example, the Bella Twins having a goddamn blood feud, with Nikki wishing Brie dead, only for them to be Besties literally a month after that feud ended with Nikki winning a match to make Brie her slave for a month. This previous Wrestlemania, Shane McMahon wrestled the Undertaker with the stipulation that Shane would get control of RAW if he won. He lost and was running RAW the next fucking day. Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Championship in a baller 8 man ladder match to a HUGE pop, and lost it the next night in a bullshit finish to The Miz, who did nothing with it until he left TV for a month to make a shitty WWE Movie. Chris Jericho beat AJ Styles (arguably the best wrestler in the world who had just debuted in the WWE two months prior) to blow off their feud, and AJ, the loser, immediately entered into a feud for the WWE Championship.

Why would anyone care about ANY of that shit? There's no reason for things happening, therefore there is no reason to care about what happens, therefore there is no reason to watch.

And no one could possibly be invested in any of the wrestlers, because they're all made to look like complete chumps by the horrible booking.

For example, when Kevin Owens first came up to RAW from NXT, he did it by beating the crap out of John Cena. He looked like a badass and a terrible force of nature. Fast forward two years, he is anointed the goddamn Universal Champion by Triple H (
