This probably isn't very /plg/ related... but do I need to be super obsessive with calorie counting? I'm on a cut right now and I just eat two clean meals per day with high energy, but when I bulk I can usually have a good gut feeling with how much I'm having per meal. Is this a shitty way of dieting or will I be alright?

u won't get enough protein which is very important on a cut to not lose muscle and strength

I usually have a protein shake which I factor in to my total calories and it usually fills my needed protein without filling up carbs and fats.

You mean high calorie? Are you a European or something?

What is your target rate of weight loss? Like lb/week or lb/month.

Make a spreadsheet that maps a straight line of what your weight per day should be with linear weight loss.

Also plot your daily weight. Of course your daily weight will fluctuate so you won't follow the linear line exactly, but if your calorie consumption is on point it should follow the general trend.

Do one plot for linear trend and day to day weight, and one plot for the linear trend and the 5 day average of your weight (cuts out some of the noise).

If eating just off your gut feeling lets your weight track your target loss reasonable well, you'll be fine. If not, you should try track calories.

Either way you should make the plots so you can actually see what is happening to your weight in real time.

Those numbers seem unrealistic. The biggest deadlift he's posted is 750. You think you just add a 100 to that like it's nothing?

He doesn't train deadlift specifically. He doesn't use belts, he doesn't pull sumo, he doesn't wear a singlet. Hes already incredible strong doing an oly lifting intensive program

Implying cleans and snatches dont work a lot of the same muscles a deadlift does the only difference is it stops at hips and locks it out there as well

Probably not much. If you get really strong without a belt then adding one doesn't make that much of a difference
A good example is alex, he was squatting over 500lbs 1rm when he added a belt in and he didn't even notice a difference
Same thing with squatting low bar, he's so efficient and has trained the motor patterns etc of high bar deep squats with a big stretch reflex he'd likely maybe even be weaker if he changed to low bar and cut his depth. Could be wrong but I don't think so.

Cleans and snatches are MUCH lighter than deadlifts, and aren't going to drive deadlifts worth a shit in anyone remotely strong.

Clarence's deadlift was strengthened primarily by steroids, and secondarily by squats.

Initially he would definitely struggle to lowbar. After practice getting adjusted to it, he would definitely squat more lowbar.

The first thing you need to know about ethics is that there is no point in ethics if you aren't getting rewarded for them in some fashion. Go squat.
