Seriously, what makes women that weak? It's not like you HAVE to be high test in order to lift weight.
And I was a completely sedentary guy, so if it was for lacking of using the muscles, I should be equally weak.

desu i think its their mindset. I mean at my gym is this skinny cutie that sometimes bdrows two 20s, and i thought well whatever shes a girl. But then she deadlifts with only 45 pounds(25lbs curl bar and plates) and i just wonder why. They can physically lift higher weights but its not something they want to, but ill leave the autistic analysis why they dont want to go heavy to someone else

Test and mindset. I've seen women swear that they're working their hardest but are still talking during their sets. I think most women don't understand how far you can really push yourself.

Test changes a lot. If you've ever noticed that women are more sensitive to pain or cold, it's because of low test. So I imagine they move less weight because A: they're legitimately weaker, and B: the effort is actually more painful for them.

women's body composition is literally different than a man's. Their upper body just isnt as strong, and doesnt pack on muscle like a man does- sure they can do it, but nowhere near as fast as a dude

it mostly has to do with lifestyle. most men are active and always do shit and play sports which is what makes them stronger. i've seen tons of teenage kids who never did anything apart from sitting behind their computer playing games and they are just as weak as women are when they first go the gym.

Its worse than the absolute record. At ipf raw nationals last year for instance the top man in the lightest class beat the top woman in the heaviest on every lift.

Men are marinated in testosterone before birth, then exposed to sustained high doses during puberty. Testosterone exposure from that early on doesn't just allow you to build muscle faster, it lets you make better use of it too.

Men are significantly more efficient than women when it comes to handling effort. A man is able to call a much higher percentage of motor units (bundles of muscle fibers innervated by a single motor neuron) into contraction for a single effort than a similarly sized woman at a similar level of training advancement.

That ability translates into pretty much every physical activity. Take an average man and an average woman with the same muscular weight, the man will be stronger, quicker, better coordinated, and generally more physically capable.

What's quite interesting about this is that a woman can recover more quickly than a man from 'intense' effort, because even though the effort is perceived to be intenst, she still has gas left in the tank.

So hold up, if a man has THE EXACT SAME amount of muscle mass than a woman, same height, etc, he will still lift more than the woman?

Its been proven women have less dermal nerve endings, on average the female has a slightly higher natural pain threshold. Have you never seen the mythbuster episode where they have them dip their arms in ice water? Females did surprisingly better. Think of it this way: You've got a man and a woman, they have identical muscle mass. Both of them have 100 motor units (way oversimplified but whatever) to call into contraction at any given time.

Both attempt a 1 rep squat max.

The man can pretty much call all 100 of his units into contraction for the attempt or close to it. Nobody has a perfectly efficient neuromuscular system, so maybe in his 1RM he's actually using 95 of them.

He does his max, and he's done. He can still stand or whatever, but he won't be able to repeat the effort any time soon because the strain represents literally everything his body's capable of.

The woman, on the other hand, has a less efficient neuromuscular system because she has less testosterone in her body and had no real in-utero exposure. She can only call about 80 of her 100 motor units into contraction at any given time.

The effort is still 'max' for her in terms of perceived and applied effort. But in true physical terms, it isn't actually a max. 20% of her total available motor units are still fresh. She'll therefore recover to the point where she can attempt that max again much more quickly.

This is also where the broscience that women can handle more volume than men comes from. They can't handle more volume at an equivalent proportion of their max (the neuromuscular effort of a 5RM for a man is probably similar to a 3RM for a woman), it just looks like they can because the weight they CAN handle for reps represents a lower percentage of their max.

But the test only can do so much, so if you had a 2:1 female to male stats, the female would just barely be able to out perform the male if both were untrained or both equal in training.

I am a housewife already. I stopped trying to progress weights because it didn't feel good. Squatting 1 plate doesn't feel good at all even with good form. Somewhere along the way I forgot my intentions behind going to the gym (to look better) and got taken up with the whole strength training thing. When deadlifts are making your hands bloody and you're seeing no progress in something you didn't want to achieve in the first place... Why would you continue?

It's not like I would ever be noteworthy strength wise without going on a cycle anyway. I always have good workouts since I started lifting more casually and I look good which was my goal.

I think its just our society that tells them they shouldnt go hard or low rep, i mean whenever a girl starts seriously lifting for strength they arent that far behind average males.
They just dont have this view on weights we have, they dont think ok i wanna go light on rows ill use 20s then i should use 100lbs on dl, they just pick a light weight and only care about not exerting themselves. Makes me angry sonetimes
