So are Pre-workouts so fucking expensive?

So are Pre-workouts so fucking expensive?

I'm new to proper lifting, and one thing I've noticed while getting protein powders and whatnot is that preworkouts are way more expensive than post. What's the reason here?

I know the real reason is that supplement companies are run by money-hungry vultures, but what's the reasoning they give for it?

All powders are a meme, actually eat something.

This is going to turn into a sip thread real quick

Just drink like 3 cups of coffee beforehand, it's the same effect

razor-8 by allmax is like half the price of other brands (bout 50cents per scoop)
and its got more stims
look into it maybe

or you can buy caffeine pills at 200 for 10$

sipping is more expensive than preworkout
1$ vs 3$

I knew the risks when I made the thread.

So is it just a bunch of shit surrounding caffeine? I've never actually bought one, I just don't understand how they try to justify the price.

Interesting. If I do ever decide to actually start using one, I might check that out. I just do post-workout as far as powders go right now. This is mostly a curiosity thread. But what's the actual benefit? Just an energy boost?

If you buy a pack it's only 1.75 a serving. Always gotta go bulk

If you wanna leave humanity behind be prepared to pay inhuman prices my man

A can is "two servings"

I hate that shit. Unless it's something like Spike Shooter which flat-out tells you "DO NOT DRINK MORE THAN HALF A CAN AT A TIME", putting a serving as half a can, or bottle, or whatever reeks of just trying to pull some sleight of hand to trick people who just look at the front.

Whoops. 1.75 a can, still more expensive than pwo, unless your buying some of those shit tier hype brands

The main part is the caffeine and stims
The other stuff helps hit a bunch of micros: tops you up on beta-alanine and the likes

I'd say try it and compare to a coffee, its mostly just up to personal preference
Some supp shops have single doses for sale for like 2-3$ so you dont have to throw away 60$ for something you dont like

BCAA is straight up meme shit sold to people who don't understand basic biology/biochemistry.

All the amino acids you need you get from whey. Other than that every single "pre-workout" is useless except creatine. Other nutrients you don't need in excess/won't affect you over the course of a day,

Get Mesomorph APS with dmaa

Most products that are sold as "pre-workout" are not and dont have any bcaa's in them, bud
They usually contain caffeine, beta-alanine, creatine and other trace nutrients
and by the way, there's nothing to support taking creatine before your workout, anytime of the day will do, and considering after a workout your body absorbs nutrients better it's probably better after

I see.

Last time I went to GNC they gave me a sample of a pre-workout. I haven't used it yet. Maybe if I have a day where I'm going to go train but I'm feeling kinda weak I might try it. See if it helps at all.

So just sticking with my post protein powder for now? I'm only in my second month of proper lifting (I've done other exercises, like I did yoga for a long time and I had a routine from a PT at my gym that I used for a month, but now I'm switching to a strength-focused regimen. And yes, I am doing SS) and not yet pushing really big weights yet, so I don't know if I want to start fucking with creatine for the time being.

how to make a pre workout 101

>go to amazon
>buy caffeine,beta alanine,creatine powder
>buy your favorite flavor of crystal light
>get a source for cialis
>buy a mens 1 a day vitamen
>go home
>mix all that shit together some how
>put in shaker cup and drink with ur mens 1 a day and cialius
>congrats you have now made a preworkout with x3 the amount of servings for the same price as any main stream bull shit lmao

creatine is extremely safe and the most researched sports supplement out there, probably a much better investment than a pre-workout and cheaper too

you should take a look here:

I know a guy who made this horrible concoction where he would dump a bunch of no-xplode into black coffee and would throw in some focus fast chasers.

>being this poor

Sounds like he was trying to give himself a heart attack.

I see. Is there any benefit, other than volume, to taking creatine powder instead of just eating foods high with it?

I put C4 Strawberry Margarita in my coffee once, it tasted like I was drinking motor oil.

yes stick to protein, no problem if you decide to take supplements like fish oil and so-on if you have an imbalanced diet (ie don't eat fish).

creatine is harmless and found in you naturally. its used as an energy source when you deplete your stored muscle energy, IE it will let you have longer sets but won't make you stronger.

here's a good explanation.

youtube.com/watch?v=BR3dDO1Sz0E

good luck eating 2.5lbs of beef everyday, here's some benefits creatine has been linked with:
-increased power output
-increased muscle hydration
-increase in lean mass
-decrease in fatigue
-slight bone mineral density increase
-decrease in depression symptoms
-quite a few more

again read the source I provided for any questions you may have

I'll certainly look into it. I have friends and family who are trained nutritionists and internal medicine doctors, so I'll just discuss things with them before I start something like that up.

Get pure monohydrate. It's legit

Not OP, but is it worth taking preworkout, brehs? I was at my local chemist, and saw a tub on special, so I brought it on my way out. Can't take it tonight (got work) but I understand some people respond to it and some don't.

So, do you guys think it's worth taking or nah? How does it help you?

The pre I got is a shitty brand, but I'm hoping it'll increase my alertness a bit and help me keep going to the gym when tired.

Creatine is one of those things people worry about because assholes hyped it up without researching.

It's found in pretty much all meat; eating a bigass steak will give you more creatine than a scoop in your shake.

Since it's so absurdly cheap, it's really handy.I recommend taking it.

It works by basically being fuel that's ready to burn for your muscles. It takes the body a bit to start drawing energy from food. It uses the creatine as a way to keep your muscles fed with energy while it hooks up the main generator (the food you've eaten). Due to that, you can lift slightly more weight, or the same weight for an extra few reps, and that in turn leads to more gainz.

That's a really crude way of looking at it, but meh. It's basically the same as protein powder; you get a lot from a decent diet, but more is handy for lifting.

Totally safe, and very well tested. Just make sure you drink some extra water during the day; it can sometimes dehydrate people. If you drink enough water you'll be fine.

I mix it in my orange juice so I don't feel shit for drinking that sugary crap.

Why the cialis? Better pumps I know, but is it really necessary?

Fortunately I'm someone who always has a water bottle or hat have you next to me, so getting more water shouldn't be a problem.

>assholes hyped it up without researching

How so? Were they saying some shit like "It's like roids but legal and doesn't make your balls shrink!" or whatever?

If you're already well hydrated, you should be fine. You need to take it in water or some other liquid anyway. If you're worried, dissolve it in a big glass of water, and drink it down, or just chase it with a glass of water. Some people don't really drink enough water during the day, so I figured I'd mention it in case.

More like they didn't really understand that it isn't roids. A lot of people thought it would cause baldness (side effect of roids) which is bullshit. ALso there are a lot of people who think you have to cycle it like roids or some shit. Basically people treated it like roids the same way some normies treat protein powder like roids. They had no clue what it was, so they treated it like something they had heard of before.

Plus the Veeky Forums memes, although fucking hilarious, probably didn't help.

Yeah I've been seeing weird shit about it here. Sometimes it seems like jokes, sometimes like people being serious about cycling and mentioning it in the same breath as gear.

Google bulkpowders, go to first website. Buy bag of bcaa 2:1:1, creatine mono, beta alanine, citruline malate. Mix 1 tsp of each with glass of water, add lemon juice. Boom you just made your own preworkout. If you can afford buy l-norvaline and some arginine too, as well as vitamin b pills and caffeine pills.

Take on an empty stomach. If you get hot and itchy, that's normal

Except you'd need to eat 1lb of steak in order to get a scoops worth of creatine
So it'd be cheaper to get creatine powder

>spike shooter
i miss those used to slam those before PE in HS

You forgot
-balding

yes its insane
im not Meme'ng you

A friend of mine who works crazy hours in a kitchen keeps one around as an emergency energy source.

Another guy I worked with used to fight, and got a minor sponsorship from Spike Shooter that let him get free cases of the stuff. He fucked it up with a drug problem, but that's his fault and he admits it. Same guy also told me about CLA when I was trying to bring down my weight from 290 with dieting and DDP yoga and was a few months in. I can't really tell if it helped or not, though.

>not being sip boyz yet
The only thing you need for pre workout is caffeine.

I would argue beta-alanine as well

Beta alanine stops working after a few times..

>I just don't understand how they try to justify the price.
They probably assume if you fall for the pre-workout meme they can take advantage of you?

youtube.com/watch?v=yyvQk5W4mk8

That's pretty much newfags vs oldfags. Cycling isn't necessary barring in weirdly specific circumstances. If somebody honestly thinks it's on the same level of steroids they're idiots. It's at best a handy supplement that helps most people lift a smideon more.

Thanks man. Any particular amount of time before a gym session? Or just an hour to and hour and a half?

Yeah, I worded that weirdly. Supplementing creatine is the best way to go, but I was trying to get the point across that the other user is eating creatine without knowing it already.

Nah, didn't think you were man. I know a few roiders use it for the pump, but there was a thing going around where people thought it was a full on blood pressure medication.

My dick works fine but I'm seriously considering taking cialis a few times just to see what happens pump and boner wise.

This is honestly the best way, moreso because you can tailor the doses of the individual ingredients to suit your body for maximum effectiveness without going overboard on caffeine, which the premixed ones are loaded with
