congrats! i love the opportunities ucsb has given me. sadly the gym is ultra crowded most weekdays during the day, get there before 8am or after 8pm if you want to be able to walk without getting in someone's way (i'm not kidding, the university desperately needs a bigger gym). grills are what you'd expect with ucsb's reputation, and the party scene has died down ever since the deltopia riots of 2014 (my senior year of hs) and stupid virgin faggot elliot roger didn't help much. for these reasons, cops are everywhere on days/nights where parties are expected. they won't fuck with you unless you're fucking up badly though. regardless, isla vista is the most amazing, beautiful place you will ever live at. hands down. once you've graduated though, you'll never want to live there ever again.

get a good, but not super expensive bike, and a good u-lock. you can buy one in iv for less than $20. this is important. people will try to steal bikes here when they're drunk or if they have to walk a few blocks. with that said, stay off the fucking bike path if you aren't riding one. 2 questions for you:

wow! i'm in the same major! i have only the math 104 series left to take next year, so i've taken all other classes in the major. pstat 160 series (stochastic processes) can be tough and the prof you get can make or break those classes for you. i had a guy (ichiba) who made his tests hell but curved magnificently. however, the quarter system moves verrrrrry quickly, and you need to be on top of your shit practically from the very start because its pretty easy to slack off a couple days and be left behind. it took me some getting used to honestly, but now i prefer it. you straight up get to take more classes than semester system. you'll still experience enough of iv to see what its about by going to school here, i just rant and rave about it because i live on 65 dp.
perhaps we will cross paths next year, prospective gaucho.

Thanks dude. Just one last question, if I do go, what would be a good schedule for the first quarter. In think of math8 and some transfer bullshit class but what else? I'm shooting for just 12units because I don't like biting more than I can chew and I know I can do better by focusing on less.

so i don't know where you stand in terms of what you've completed but i think this would be good:

math 8
a pstat class (120a or 120b most likely, these are the intro probability courses)
some GE bullshit--i really enjoyed philosophy 4, theater 5, and music 11, but look through all the departments on GOLD when fall classes are up to see if there's anything that tickles your fancy.

you are required to take something like 6 total pstat classes (not counting elective units) so i would get on that the first quarter too. specifically, you need to pass 120b before you can move on to the rest of upper-divs. good luck!!!

Actually have faggots here who wear bro science tanks to the gym. They are all dyel, and walk around wear some loose tank, with "faggots lift back" on it. Kinda embarrassing. Gym is shit too, 1 leg press, 5 squat racks and 5 benches. Don't go between the hours of 12-10. Atleast it's open kinda late :/.
