hiking, lifting, video games

Feeling

Ditch the video games buddy.

I play the cello as part of my college's orchestra (not a music major though). It's pretty fun and there's a lot of single girls, I actually met my gf in it. I don't dedicate certain days to it, but I make sure I practice for an hour and a half at least three days a week

Hiking/camping/bushcraft. Snowboarding. Travelling. Cooking. Curing meats/baking bread. Reading. Cycling.
I try to cycle an hour a day. I generally like to read for pleasure but I think I should start to be more disciplined with it.

What's it like living with the beliefs of a 80s-90s house wife?

>those vidya games will rot yur brain

Hiking, cooking, baking, D&D, MtG, short road trips down country roads, going to shows and comedy, reading, knitting, bookbinding

I didn't say they would rot your brain. It just makes you enjoy wasting time. I look back on my time with games and think of all the stuff I could have achieved. Playing them with friends and is good for you socially is about the only good thing I can really think for them.

>videogames
>lifting
>bike riding

I need to get out more

You seem awesome

Cinema
Hanging out with friends
Video games
Watching films alone or with people

>BJJ

I try to go 4 days a week.

White belt?

Axe throwing, board games, kickboxing, ukulele.

2 stripe blue

This, but you don't need to stop everything. Just be aware of online games, spending 1000h+ on overwatch or some shit.

Just play the GOTY

Thanks man.

I play maybe 4 hours a week and enjoy them. I think it's okay.

Ah I see. Ignore me then. I probs waste 4 hours a week on instagram.

>WAAAAHH ITS BAD TO WASTE TIME
as long as your enjoying the time spent then there isn't a need to stop. Clearly you stopped because you looked back at the time spent on videogames and seen it as a waste but not everyone feels the same way you do about 'wasting time'

Hell comedy channel's slogan was "time well wasted" humans have always wasted time

You will never convince them

Learning Japanese - 1hr - every day
Playing video games (only in Japanese) - 30m ~ 3hrs - a few times a week
Lifting - 45m ~ 1.5hrs 5-6 days a week
Reading - 1hr - every day
Programming - 1-2hrs - every day
Studying for certifications - 2-3hrs - 5 days a week

Cutting/polishing stones in a lapidary class. amateur geologist and rock-hound. Bonus effect, girls like jewelry and i make money selling them.

Ceramics class, made my own set of dishes. feels good to drink out of a cup you designed and made.

reading, mostly non-fiction.

drawing, digital and traditional.

Billiards,chess,art

Kind of into poker I guess

T-texas?

I'm a pilot by trade, and I still love flying and do it as much as possible. I also day trade crypto (seriously do this for yourself, you will make ridiculous money), I also make wine. Big into outdoors, do a lot of hunting, hiking, fishing, shooting, rock climbing, camping, and mountain biking. As a pilot, I travel a lot and explore the places I go as much as possible.

But mostly I just shitpost on the fitness forum of a Bhutanese cheese sculpting enthusiasts board about how I don't have a girlfriend.

how to into crypto?

lurk Veeky Forums. IMO Veeky Forums, Veeky Forums, and /pol/ are the only places worth going to on Veeky Forums.

Camping:backpacking, warhammer, kendo, anime, strategy war gaming vidya like Ruse and World in Conflict, i build random shit like Roman armour and Gladius', and baking apple pie. I love pie.

Trying to learn jazz guitar after spending a couple years just fucking around on guitar. Theory is a bitch, learning scales is a bitch, learning non-babby chords is a bitch, and getting proficient at improvisation is ok.

How does one get into camping/backpacking?

I've been wanting to get out of the house on weekends.

Also, to all the other bros who bake, does anyone have any good rye recipes? I've been doing a pretty basic rye/yeast/salt/water bread, but was thinking about branching out.

Fuck it. I've been playing with the thought for a year and I even started learning hiragana and katakana at one point. I'm gonna start learning Japanese. Is there still the Daily Japanese Thread with the learning resources still around on /a/?

Hobbies include:

Reading, throwing pottery, gardening (god-tier veggie gains), local politics, and looking for a cute/kind girlfriend at social functions -- which takes up quite a bit of time.

Sitting here shitting on a dude playing video games, "could be doing something more productive", why are you on this board then. Go do those great things you could've done if you didn't play video games

Reading philosophy and having sex with tinder sloots

People encourage to pick a hobby because the gym is not enough. How is hiking different than going to the gym if hiking is just cardio but outside?

I love learning languages

Currently learning Korean and Russian

Usually you can just search up hiking trails and/or campsites on Google. From there, you'll need to buy requisite gear. For backpacking, you'll obviously need a backpacking backpack. The dudes at REI can help you out, and I'm sure there are a bunch of sources of info online (/out/), but you'll eventually need to try on a couple packs to see what you like.

I go hiking 2-3 times a month because I love the mountains and it's a great feeling being in nature and secluded from civilization. Cardio is the last thing on my mind when I want to hike.

po ruski goverish?

WTF?

>snowboarding
>Texas
Probably not buddy.

THIS,

GET INTO COINS NOW

Why /pol/?
Dont get me wrong I'm not the go back to /pol/ types but i rarely seen anyone say its one of the few worthwhile places.
I tend to stick with Veeky Forums, /out/ and /k/, and occasionally Veeky Forums if I'm looking for new memes to invest in.

>>>What hobbies do you have?
>"Don't forget you're here forever."
Ha.

video games
D&D
Lifting
Walks

Fuck what else is fun in life

Scotland friendo

It sounds like you've mastered the "do a little bit each day" technique for building hobbies and skills. How did you do it? How did you make it a consistent routine?

For a year i am kinda thinking of buying saxophone. What say you brehs ? Is it possible to learn it by yourself ? They are also kinda expensive.

If you're just starting off, I would recommend just hiking. Get a pack that you don't mind carry for most of the day. Get some water, and maybe a snack. Wear flexible clothing and running shoes. Keep minimal weight in your pack until you get a feel for things. This is just to start. After this, do whatever you feel is comfortable. For camping, you're going to need a shelter, a way to sleep, and a good pack to carry all of it. There are many ways of going about this and it all boils down to weight, durability, price, and comfort level. Research your options. Also for finding places to go, get the AllTrails app. It's helped me find a bunch of neat places. Going to be trying a bunch of trails as soon as I get less hours at work.

Oh, if you have the money and are going to REI, ask to get fitted for a backpack. They'll set you up with the most comfortable backpack you've ever worn. It's fantastic.

It comes pretty naturally. I'm sure there's plenty of basics you can learn from YouTube lessons.

Hiking, D&D, writing, and videogames. Trying to get into three gun competition but haven't had the time to practice.

Cooking, music,I play guitar in my band. Play some vidya. I also cosplay which keeps me motivated to have a decent body and it's fun meeting people.

How does one get into cosplay? It looks like fun but I don't know where to start.

not much anymore. I guess I like to explore new places. I love to hike and watch films, but I don't have anybody to do those with anymore. I do them alone some times but it's just not the same. I've always wanted to go camping but have no clue how to start and wish I had a friend who had experience who could take me with them once or twice but I don't. So that's life.

Pick a character and go for it my dude. If you can't make it,buy it. Either way, just have fun. There's no secret club or anything.

>investing in memes
lol, it's like you're trying to become poor

Right now it's rollerblading and fighting games. I know, I need to add more to that list. Being productive doesn't come naturally when you loathe yourself and you're a defeatist.

At least I'm really liftan.

This is the opinion of an immature man. Most elders regret wasting time the most, I imagine this feeling will be amplified for the newer generations when they realize they spend hours on end looking at a glass box in the corner of their rooms.

Video games can be enjoyable at times, but there are millions of things that can better you as a person even if they are wasting time.

i strongly urge you to become more productive or you'll pay for it big time when you age

Surfing in the summer, fencing the rest of the year.

How is that?

Anime.

I brew beer, dive, fish, hunt, shoot, cook, and read.
I'm interested in smoking (cigars, looking to get a pipe or a hookah), wet shaving and good wine and spirits, but it's not something I do often enough to consider a hobby.

Watching those priceses boom is killing me

FUCK I want to invest but it looks SO FUCKING HIGH now

I'll wait patiently for a crash or dip

Fishing, fapping. Used to draw but no inspiration any more.

Hiking, but dont do it often
Biking for cardio
Urban exploration, but I got tired of walking into asbestos-filled crack dens
Swimming for cardio if I feel like it
Weights 3x a week
Anime, its the only thing I really do for relaxation
Im also thinking of becoming a high school science teacher.

Is that you? Google only had one result and it was on Veeky Forums. At first I thought it was a young Chul Soon.
Also I like filming videos of all sorts.
+ anime
sounds fun.
stop playing videogames
mirin, desu, I dont have that sort of dedication

How so?

Not him, but curious

I'm 22 lol. Though I do agree with you, I am not exactly happy with myself currently. But I am better than I was a month ago.

That glass box was my friend when I couldn't find any outside or at home. I'm not saying you're wrong, but for a lot of this new generation the games we played served as escapism from bad situations and can make great social outlets. They're not complete wastes of time just because you've not needed them.

No matter what you do, you only have so much time to do it. And the list of things you can do fluctuates with your income, depending on what family you were born into and your opportunities or how intelligent/charismatic you are. Most people will work their time away the vast majority of their life and only get to focus on their few hobbies, usually not enough to make them into anything substantial. And then in the end we all die and are forgotten unless you're part of the elite that advances your nation or our race in some significant way, which I can only imagine you aren't, since you're here arguing about other people's hobbies on a Peruvian basket weaving board.

In the end, who cares? The people who can truly make time "matter" already are. Everyone else just wants to be content in the moment. Which itself is a massively difficult task as well.

Table top games like xwing and armada 1x a week
Muay Thai 2-3x a week
Cigars 1× a week

Get your shit together. Stop playing games.

Fuck that's probably the worst tattoo I've ever seen, great physique but that chest tat is a goddamn cringe king

Aye aye Mr.Peterson

mostly being a tease and cock blocking girls with my friend.

Latin dancing 3 days per week, plus occasional competitions or workshops.

I like to cook, I like to lift and run, I like to play videogames. But I don't really count any of them as hobbies because I don't specifically dedicate time to them.

NEET

I do TKD and Paddle boarding

>>What hobbies do you have?

Saturday and Sundy if the weather is suitable.

>tfw plane is from 1966
>tfw entirely made out of wood

The only problem is that I´m a manlet and need lead weights as well as a pillow behind me to reach the pedals and the correct center of gravity to fly...

>inb4 muh 6`3 master race
You wouldn´t even fit in a plane like that...

I'm mainly into mtb, only problem is it is expensive af and i only have canals with little dirt trails to ride on.

i also enjoy hiking, whittling, getting lost with friends and i used to be big into skateboarding.

played pc games for like 1 year and got bored, still play online chess with friends but only once every now and again. don't know how you guys do it all day.

>How does one get into cosplay? It looks like fun
This site is so fucking pathetic

>Current
Literature/Philosophy, just getting started with this. Unironically following this chart to the letter. I have never really read on my own time before so I'm going through slowly, taking fucking notes and making sure I internalize the information so hard it's as easy as remembering my name.

Fitness, literally brand fucking new. Read the entire sticky last night, tested the movements to get my form to a point where I don't kill myself and I'm going to genuinely start lifting tomorrow.

>Moving away from
Worldbuilding, it's fun as hell but I want to develop decent talent in art and writing before I get started up again. It's painful having ideas and not being able to do anything with them because you weren't willing to put in the effort.

MOBAs, unlike most people who play them I genuinely find them fun, it's just that I won't have the time to really go balls deep anymore since other stuff is more important to me now.

>Want to get into
Traditional Art, so I can improve worldbuilding and shit. I've never made a genuine push for art so I don't know if I'll be able to keep it up enough to get where I want to be. My end goal is to be able to know how to draw a person and have it look reasonably not shit. I've been really put off from this because /ic/ is a shithole outside of the sticky, but all that's there is retards looking for a magic pill that will make them good at art and jaded assholes. I have the supplies ready to do digital art, but I want to learn the fundamentals first.

When I was growing up I thought I was too smart to do anything and that I could get literally anywhere through natural talent. I've finally realized that I might as well have been a low functioning autist with that unbelievably retarded mindset. It was actually the fucking cancerous mcdonalds of video games that made me realize that improvement itself is more fun than success and success will naturally follow improvement. Thank you for subscribing to my blog.

>Worldbuilding, it's fun as hell but I want to develop decent talent in art and writing before I get started up again. It's painful having ideas and not being able to do anything with them because you weren't willing to put in the effort.

my fucking nigga. I also love worldbuilding, and not being great at art/writing is no reason to be trying to move away from it. The only way you're going to improve both is if you practice, so don't give up on something you enjoy just because you don't have the skills to produce it up to your standards

have you thought about writing short stories? or creating a gaming setting for it? I find both are good ways to organize my thoughts on the writing front.

Not really a hobby, but I like to go to department stores on my days off and mess up the men's section. Unfold entire shelves of clothes and leave piles of clothes in the fitting rooms

Masturbation
I dedicate up to 3 hours a day, every day to tug at my meatsnake
I have 5 different websites with completely different types/fetishes/artstyles of porn, ranging from hentai to western comics, incestual pornos to pony porn. (and why not both, amirite?)
Theres nothing I haven't fapped to, and I often find myself with over 100 tabs open at the end of my session.
I am what you could call a master bater.

Games and Veeky Forums are a waste of time. I ruined my marriage by playing TOO MUCH games. More than 20+ a week. But I haven't touched a game in 2 years. Just can't bring myself to quit this site.

I'm fucking overloaded on ideas and have them all either written down or so firm in my head I can picture them in almost full motion any time I want. Setting it aside is temporary, I want to get good at art so I can give the ideas the proper due they deserve. It's not giving up, but doubling down so I can do things properly and share things that can't be expressed in words or writing. It feels like considering worldbuilding my main hobby over the foundational elements of worldbuilding has stunted and stifled my ability to proceed from the point where I'm at.

I have been able to produce stuff for it, but I want to know how to make more and better stuff, if I don't understand how to bring the ideas into real life then that limits me. I want to make something beautiful.

But you are right, because the I've also been putting it off because the greater whole of the work always feels like it has fundamental flaws in the way I approach things. I can't describe my main setting because I don't want feel locked into shit like "low fantasy" or "high fantasy" and limit the scope and artistic depth of the project. Worrying over whether or not it will be good has killed my ability to make it good. I just have to internalize the fact that deliberately trying to create a magnum opus will only lead to failure; I've invested so much time into worldbuilding that it feels like anything less than total success would be a failure. But I know that's wrong and you're a fucking saint for making me realize that.

Here's a quick draft of a map from a year ago. Perfect realism doesn't interest me in the slightest but the biggest flaw is that in order to make it easy for me to comprehend it the continents look like fucking world of warcraft zones. I'll get working on this shit afterwards.

I never got started on tabletop so I don't really know how to make a game system for it. I've been imagining it like a warcraft 3 style RTS. I think I know what to do now. Thanks m8.

>THEYRE GOING UP IN VALUE BUY NOW

Its too late friendo don't take their advice, wait for a crash and if possible some stagnation afterwards

And just for context it is now autism time.

>Tan
Sandyland, needs lots of work. Has a giant unkillable tarasque from space buried under it.

>Dark Green
Based off of east asia. Currently on clouds/floating islands that meet once a year to decide the weather. Also needs a lot of work.

>Yellow
Greek/Roman or some shit, don't have any solid shit for it. People here make religiously change their shape by making clay one with their flesh.

>Light Green
European, thick fucking woods filled with pocket dimensions in every nook and cranny. In some places it gets as dark as the bottom of the ocean due to the thick tree cover. One of the most developed.

>Brown
Sword and sorcery style fantasy. Everything here should looks like it belongs on the cover of a cheesy metal album.

>White
Eastern Europe + caucuses and shit around there. I set up tulpas as being a counterpart to undead except they're souls that were raised before they were born instead of after they died. They look like slenderman if slenderman was a cute girl.

>Pink
Colonial North America, undead, but instead of corpses the vast majority of souls went into inanimate objects like scarecrows, roadkill and loaves of bread. Not individual objects but collections of objects that move around.

>Purple
Modern City, a giant sprawling shithole that designed itself. Architecture is like a mcdonalds playhouse. Almost all of humankind here has been subtly replaced by robots and homunculi by the ruling elite. Deviant art-tier designer babies and the infamous public bathroom maze for all ye who enter here. For reference mainlanders who are even aware of this place consider it less real than we do Atlantis

A pretty obvious flaw should be clear, I'm basing everything off of real world cultures instead of creating my own shit. I'm going to try and cut down on that. I eventually want the overall direction to be dark-souls like, low-ish fantasy that still allows for beings of tremendous power.

> filmmaking

I love cinema, always wanted to make movies. Started in high school. Now, 8 years later, I am starting to shoot my first serious screenplay next week with a serious actress. Got the ok to shoot on site so I am stoked. Gonna submit it to festivals when I'm done.

>literature

Always loved reading poetry, philosophy, literature, psychology, critical theory etc. Currently reading;
Faust by Goethe
Ulysses by Joyce
The Ego and His Own by Stirner

I read slowly and savor every paragraph.

>meditating

I don't sit and breathe or recite gods name a million times, but I do practice patience and gratitude and concentration anytime I can. It may seem trivial, but in all my life I have never felt happier as when I was able to be master of my own emotions, responses, thoughts, etc.

I'll stop here. Thanks for reading

is talking about shit like the tarasque and other stuff that I haven't mentioned. Because I provided so little detail things are only as you interpret them.

"what the fuck am I looking at" is definitely the style I'm going for though

Cooking, vidya, trying to learn a couple of languages and also trying to learn how to draw. Also reading and music, but I don't really have to put much effort in there. Naturally I'm making slow progress in everything since my interests are so scattershot, but I think I can work out a decent routine.
