Homegym general

I couldn't find a homegym general, so I made one.

What's your choice for adjustable dumbbells? I'm maxing pic related out.
What kind of pulling motions do you do?

not mine but this is all you'd need to get Veeky Forums

Canceled my gym membership and currently browsing ebay for some cheap dumb- and barbells with weights.
I plan to move into our garage, but my wife has some reservations about that. The garage still needs to get cleaned out over the summer and I need to find some mats, a lightsource and some isolation comming winter.

Gonna save this as motivation. This looks dope as fuck.

>my wife's garage
For fuck's sake, user.

Why wouldn't you just go to the gym.

There's a state of the art gym less than 2 mins from where I live.

>pull-up bar from Dick's
>Dad's old adjustable dumbells
All I need lads. Calisthenics and isometrics for the rest.

holy shit is that real

Social anxiety and not wanting staph infections.

I have one of those Nautilus folding benches. Not ideal but it works for core lifts. Squats are awkward.

Using my garden shack but with the approaching summer I'll have to adjust my workout schedule. After noon it gets too hot and I can feel that I can't operate my full strength at 30°C

1. I hate driving, so if the gym is in my apartment mere inches away from me, I have no excuse.
2. The cost of a gym is also motivation.
3. Eventually, after some years, it's cheaper than renting a membership.
4. I can (and do) workout naked or nearly naked.

I've two 90lb adjustable powerblocks, and a doorway pullup bar. I use a heavy-duty trunk as a flat bench, but I'm planning on getting an adjustable bench. Also getting curious about flat resistance bands.

I got a bench, squat rack, pull up bar, dip bars, 300lbs of plates, a place to do deadliifts and oly stuff. What else do I need?

Honestly nothing. Unless you end up needing more plates. You're set. How much did it cost you?

I got the bench and weights off craiglist for 200. Dip station 75 squat rack/pull up bar off Amazon for 100.

All I have right now

>ammo box workouts
I remember that being a thread on /k/ once, what's your routine with those? Treat them like kettlebells?

I've got a doorway pull-up bar, some adjustable spin-lock dumbbells, a chrome-plated hex bar rated at 1,000 pounds, and about 375lb of standard weights so far. I can do pretty much all of the 'big' exercises with what I've got, though admittedly the squats with a hex bar aren't as good as barbell squats, but they get the job done and I can reach parallel.

I'll probably just stick with what I've got until I need dumbbells that can hold more weight or I need more weight for deadlifts.

That isn't me btw

The bands are great since I can attach them to the door frame and with that you can do any kind of movement

Rows
Tricep pull down behind the neck
Cabe work for chest, biceps, triceps, delts
Try to work an odd variation of ohp with these as well single handed OHP
Put the bands on the floor and step on them with both feet
Deadlifts, squats, banded back work and hamstring work
The 40lb ammo cans
Curls, tricep work by extending the cans over head
Sitting down can do OHP with controlled form
Laying down can do bench but with only 40lb so I try to go for like 25+ reps until I burn out the triceps and tthan I might just use lighter bands to do some band pull apart to work the chest

The ammo cans while loaded in front of your body can also be used as at home deadift/hamstring work but it requires many reps since its only 80lbs

Can transistion between band work and ammo cans for legs etc..

Goblet squats, haven't been able to carry both for squats and achieve 80lb squat but either way I'm trying to do something and lose weight

Lot of rows, arm work, and back work, haven't tried walking lunges with the ammo cans though, off balance like a motherfucker

Just got them today. Already have squat/bench uprights and a pair of 20 and 10kg bumpers. Bar is in pic related.

I really want a pair of 25s next, but I'm waiting until the money from quitting smoking adds up.

My home gym has evolved quite a bit since I moved. Long story short, there are really great / non-autistic reasons for having a home gym.

I know everybody is probably going to come in and laugh, but I've made amazing progress by just doing Scooby's intermediate workout, adjusting my diet appropriately, and using less than $300 worth of equipment. I used to be 210lbs - I made it to like 163 (it surprisingly didn't take that long). I'm not one of you huge powerlifting guys, but I managed to do okay.

My main contribution to this thread, however, is why I prefer home gyms.

>1. I never have an excuse not to go to the gym, because I'm literally always at the gym. If you've ever missed the gym once because of inclimate weather, gas, not being able to drive there, time, car troubles - the home gym has an advantage.

>2. Time I work 50 hour weeks. A home gym turns a two hour workout into a 45 minute one.

>3. All the equipment is mine - I can take as long to focus on form as I want or be as quick as possible. I don't have to deal with douchebags not wiping down equipment / general douchebaggary

>4. I can listen to / watch whatever I want. I could literally life while playing a videos of MILFs giving rimjobs if I wanted to.

5. I can be loud.

6. THE HANDS DOWN #1 reason I like the home gym is because I can have a fresh, home cooked meal timed instantly from whenever I'm done with my lift. I don't come home and eat leftovers or have to microwave something - I can literally time it so that the food is done as soon as I'm done lifting.

7. If you're serious about working out for a long period (not a resolutioner), it's actually cheaper than a gym membership.

I could seriously go on about this all day, but the short version is that it's really a viable option.

Keep adding to it bit by bit. Power rack is a big missing piece. But it gets the job done

You have your own place?

>but I've made amazing progress by just doing Scooby's intermediate workout,
I just started with myself with some spinlock dumbbells/barbell I've had sitting around forever. Have any before/after or even just current physique pics?

idk about you but the gym cost $40 a month were i live
for $250 i got weights and a bench, and I can work out whenever I want

*started that myself

This is why im never getting married.

Fuck being under control of women your whole life. I already did that with my mother for 20 years.

Being a grown up comes with some perks at least

got tired of working out in shitty temporary spaces. Built an extension last year.

I quickly glanced at this and thought those were fucking katanas on the wall

They think they can control you

Overtime they build power but you have to keep them in line in a way, that isn't healthy relationship at all and it can be doomed with any serious issues

I've got a bench press on the way. Fuck the gym and its membership. All I've got near me is a ham planet fatness and it's just not worth it.

The bench has and adjustable rack for squats too, so I'll hang up a pull up bar and be good to go. It's like a $300-400 investment.

had this all through highschool till now and loved every workout

No pic but I have a power rack, bench, oly bar, a variety of weights, light bar, ez curl bar, couple of dumbbells, bench for press and leg shit.

But my damn verandah is on an angle meaning I'll be fucked if I ever lift heavy.

Three sets of adjustables : a shorter piece of 3/4" pipe w/ shaft collars, an 18" length of same with collars & sleeved for a thicker handle, and a 24" shaft @ 1" diameter w/ a rotating knurled handle. The last one can fit 250lbs if I use 12.5lbs plates;the most I've ever slapped on it is 160 using 10s

For pulling : rows & more rows. Get some bands from WallyWorld and do facepulls. Do pullups. If you're too poor to afford a door mounted bar, grab the top of the door frame and do them commando style.

Protip : rusted plates can be cleaned in a mild acid (there's a use for the Coke you're not drinking anymore). Then find someone with a sandblaster/beadblaster to make sure you're down to the bare metal. After that they can be repainted (yes, Virginia, you can buy hammertone paint in gray or black in a rattlecan) or coated in something like plastidip

>Three sets of adjustables : a shorter piece of 3/4" pipe w/ shaft collars, an 18" length of same with collars & sleeved for a thicker handle, and a 24" shaft @ 1" diameter w/ a rotating knurled handle.
That's some Ross Enamait shit. Good job, my DIYnigger, got any pics?

>plastic ammo box
is that for airsoft?

They're actually really tough

>Different cases for different loads, ammo, mags, and one giant case for tools

What do you mean it's on an angle? Like the floor isn't level or the walls are too narrow?

Also, my concern is dropping a bar through the floor. Anyone have any experience with that?

Not at the moment. It's basic shit anyways except for the knurled handle. Now my DB holder, so I can press out of the rack w/o a spotter and using the same setup as regular bench - that was some work.

I'm just writing up my logbook while the caffeine hits, then it's deadlift day. Tomorrow is OHP & rows

Actually I do, I could go get them. They aren't much, but let me grab my flash drive...

Smart user.

I mean the damn floor is on an angle. I don't know how bad the angle is as I've no way to measure it.

It's enough that if you put a par with weights down it will begin to roll.

I dead-lift on the path in the back yard because that's at least level but being an ausfag it's Winter now so I'm not going to be able to do it in the rain.

>lifting during a lightning storm
Actually I might do this... just to see if I can get some super powers.

>naked hula dance from yours truly
Unless this bitch is Remy LaCroix, idgaf.

A man should always be able to see his wife naked. A woman who doesn't provide that for her man will invariably lose his attention to internet pornography.

Nigga, trig.

Set up a board, and put a level on it. Add things under the end to bring it to level. Measure that height, and the length of the board. Use calculator.

If they try (and occasionally succeed) to teach trig to dumbfucks here in Outer Redneckistan, any aussie should manage fine

kek it looks like he made himself throw up lmao

I know how to measure angle but I don't have any damn tools to do so. Went through the whole damn shed looking for one.
And I'm not going to piss away my money on something I'm only going to use once.

This is why my first marriage didn't last.

I cooked everything. I took care of the house. Groceries, me. I even the one doing everything the 3 months her sister's kids stayed with us.

Bitch threw a tantrum one evening after I had worked 3 weeks of 16 hour days. She didn't want to order food, or cook for me for once.

Latest gf is the complete opposite. It's nice to have a beer in the evening and not feel like I'm with Queen HarpyBitch

just built my t3 rack

still need more pl8s but it's a good start

Could be worse

Ayyy, I've got that pullup tower. Words great for as cheap as it was.

*Works

here is my homegym breakdown
>1x power cage with safety bars
>1x non adjustable bench
>1x squat bar (super deep knurling, supposed to hold 1200lbs before bending. never gonna get that high, but i don't want to deal with a whipping bar)
>2x20kg bumpers
>4x45lb plates
>4x35lb plates
>4x25lb plates
>4x10lb plates
>8x5lb plates
>4x2.5lb plates
>bluetooth speaker
>2x shitty adjustable non oly dumbbells
>lots of chalk
i'm super thankful i went for the equipment rather than a gym membership when i was a teenager and wanted to lift. it'd be even better if i didnt get lazy, but i got to just jump right back into lifting without spending a dollar.

Here's mine. Just finished building my pull up bar a couple weeks ago.
All I need now is more plates and to install some pegs on the posts for squats.

My standard bar nigger. You have any problems doing deadlifts with 25's as your biggest plates? I find it a bit uncomfortable.

The only chore I really do is take out the trash. My fiance is a neat freak and loves shit to be cleaned. She's meh at cooking so most of the time we cook together.

Also
>needing points for a bj

Does she let you have a home gym?

Yeah. I never really use it tho. As of now I have a barbell with around 200lbs of weights for it in the garage.

You can pick your wife, not your mother.

Got an extra room in my condo that I want to turn into a home gym, the issue is it's upstairs, how dumb of an idea is having a cage upstairs?

How high are the ceilings?

> always lift in morning nectar always "too tired" to lift after work
>can't lift for the next week in morning because busy and decide to lift right when I get home even though feel shitty
> feel energetic than ever once I start the damn thing
>power through session with energy to spare

What sorcery is this?

Currently:
>mat
>standard bar n db's
>cement and 2nd-hand plates
>pullup bar

I'll snag a bench later, but its been serving me fine for the past year: approaching 3pl8 deadlift.
For the curious: I do Stronglifts, subbing in Zercher squats and weighted pushups (bench goal = 50% bodyweight + x, x going on my back)

I've had good luck with Kroc rows, and ironically those $8 Walmart screw-lock db's seem fine: been able to easily load up 100 lbs(50x2)

Shia was right all along, lad.

How do you get plates on your back by yourself? Backpack?

Shit I wish I started in highschool

>kneel
>hold the plates behind my back
>ease down into front leaning position
>???
>pushup

I gotta 40lb weight vest from a buddy to fill the progression tween plates and use a rachet tiedown if they too squirelly on my back.

Hell yes. I miss the old shia also

Sorry for shit pic

>Rack is a Fitness Reality 810XLT. Wanted Rouge or even Titan for fuck's sake, but until then, this was less than $200.
>Olympic rings for dips
>Inversion table, fuck you
>Ellipical on CL, $60
>370lbs of weights, plus shitty bar, $200.

Yeah, totally worth it.

Depressing

dat pullup bar outside

Actually I've started to prefer it. It's like a few extra inches of motion. Had to start doing it barefoot though to make it more comfy. Big downside is changing weights on those bars is so tedious compared to standard bars. Did you post your gym in here?

Why not pick both?

dude those mats wont stop the weight from bending your flooring if it's not concrete under that carpet...
