Memes aside, how do you train your core if not situps?

Sit-ups are horrible for your back. Replace with regular / side planks and hanging leg raises.

He's gotta be doing that as a joke to make her laugh. There's no way someone would unironically do this exercise.

Leg raises either hanging or from a dip station. Ab wheel/roller. Vacuums and heavy compounds for inner core.
