Is it true that teenagers have a higher metabolic rate and need to eat more calories? A little buddy of mine I have taken under my wing (15 years, 123lbs, 5'8) wants to gain weight- online calorie calcs give him numbers like 2600, which is a good 800 abovve what he has been eating. Is this legit? Do kids have fast metabolisms?

bulk if you're not too fat. you can shed the excess weight whenever when you get a year or two older. It's not worth it now
